Totti was the best playmaker in the history of football, far better than Zidane or Xavi just to mention two champions. The bias here comes from the fact that he ended his career as a striker, but in the first place he was a playmaker, and his number in terms of assists and key passages easily outnumber the ones coming from any other player. He also was one of the best scorers of all time, as he scored an incredible amount of goals playing half of his career as an offensive midfielder. What Totti lacked was just the dribbling, an average 6,5 out of 10, especially in the final part of his career. Totti was preferred by Florentino Perez to Zidane, and they got the French player only after Totti refused many times, and he was not even at the best moment of his career. Totti was considered by Pelè and Maradona as the best player of his time and one of the best of all time. The comparison with Del Piero it's not real, cause Totti outmatch him in any stats and he was preferred by all the CTs of the Italian national team. Lippi, a historical coach of Juventus, preferred Totti to Del Pierodespite the fact Totti was injured for months and recovered only a few weeks before the World Cup. We are talking about a legend, far better than players like Zico, Del Piero, Eusebio, and in my opinion even better than Zidane and Platini

Ironically, Roma's biggest successes on the international scene in last 30 years came shortly before he made his debut (UEFA Cup finals 1991) and shortly after his retirement (UCL semi-finals 2018). However, his flair, his skills, assists and goals, passion and celebrations, his loyalty, his leadership and career longevity will be remembered forever. An immortal Prince of Rome.

*"Romas success in intrentional scene doesnt have anything with him..."*
Of course it doesn't. He wasn't part of it.
*"That semi final..Team Roma had in that time was fucing sick..."*
That Roma team wasn't bad at all. Some new players have arrived, like Kolarov, 20 years old Ünder, 21 years old Schick and Alisson was promoted to the first squad. At the same time Totti, Salah, Paredes, Szczęsny, Rüdiger, Emerson and Vermaelen left the squad.
*"With Totti they would cruise trough it..."*
With all due respect, I think the key of the success was Totti's departure. He has had his chances over the past 25 years. He was awful in last 3-4 seasons, but his ego was so big that he couldn't realize that his time was long gone. That's why I respect Maldini, Baresi, Bergomi, Mancini or Puyol the most. They simply knew when it was over.
*"Last time Totti played in a team like that he won Seria A and World Cup..."*
So he need some kind of "Galacticos" to win some trophies? That's why Maradona is the best. He won World Cup by himself and the next one he reach to the final despite of being injured the whole tournament. Also he manage to won Serie A twice and one UEFA cup with small club from Naples.
*"Even in his last years he made a diffrence with goals, assits even with moral bust when he comes to the pitch..."*
I agree about the moral. His presence was very important and useful, but more in the locker room than on the pitch. He scored mostly from the penalty spot and number of assist was significantly lower in his last 4 or 5 seasons.
*"But yeah, sadly it was after he was forced to retier......."*
As I said before, he simply didn't knew when it was over, so he was forced to retire.
However, He was one of the biggest talents ever and I enjoyed watching him.

There was a camera on him in the corridor to the field(the old one that is not used anymore) and there is a mural of the skyline of Napoli. Totti lack the trophy cabinet because of the high competition at the time there were too many players and clubs performing at their peak and establishing as what we call their golden generation. Had he went to real madrid he could of won more trophies
Ballon dor was difficult when you have del Piero, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Figo, Zidane, Henry, schevchenko, etc (too many to list)
They were rewarding fifa player of the year awards ie (they still do) Ronaldinho won fifa best player of the year award while schevchenko won the ballon dor
It's not the ronaldo v messi only era
    So medals were distributed differently
And for the world cup it's a big deal when you're playing less In a national team for this event once every 4 years it's a bigger difference from champions league as "we'll try next year"
It's safe to say totti played in the toughest italian league era let alone golden era

One of the greats of the game. Loyal son of Rome. The number of big clubs after him and he turned them down. I remember even in Football Manager, couldn't prise him away from ROMA no matter what. Was glad he was part of Italy winning the World Cup in 2006.

Another class, another whole prime level. One of the most important and exquisite real “italiano” boy. He gave it all in the field in every single game. Simply for the love for the Roma, the love for the football and never for fame or money. A true legendary player. If he got a bit more lucky he would be perhaps twice world champion. Despite of many problems and comparisons…. the fact he stayed all his career in Roma and played at such high skilled level, alone make him one of a kind. Me and my son always loved to see him in the pitch, you knew he was capable of doing great things and stuff in the field. Grazie Il Capitano !! Never forgotten!

Regardless of the fact that he never left Roma, back in the day when I followed football more closely with my friends, everyone knew who Totti was and respected him immensely. Hell, I was never a fan of Italy and even hated them a bit (especially after knocking out my Germans from 2006 World Cup), but if you asked me back in the early 2000s who I want as a 10 and a captain on my team, the answer would probably be Totti more often than not. Not only because he was good, but because I loved his dedication and loyalty to Roma. You can't buy that kind of thing and you probably won't see it again in modern football.

    -Finishing cause the cucchiaio
-Adaptability cause he played well in different roles during his career
-Icon factor cause he is Francesco Totti!
And would give him a bonus point for his loyalty and not going to Madrid on the eraly 00's
By the way, loved the video man!

      Also playmaking would've deserved a 10/10.
Totti was able to create plays outta nowhere, with one touch he was able to put his teammates in front of a goal, was able to start the play from behind and there are some crazy combo with Cassano that are glorious!

    • @henriquehansen314
      @henriquehansen314 3 года назад +1

@@acalciodicanepodcast5846 he had a really good one touch pass that lead to a lot of Cassano and Bati goals, but I believe a 10/10 playmaker would be someone more like Iniesta or Pirlo

    • @acalciodicanepodcast5846
      @acalciodicanepodcast5846 3 года назад +1

      @@henriquehansen314 i respect your opinion.
Because i assume that your evaluation is purely based on the skill-set of a pure playmaker(Iniesta and Pirlo) and i accept that.
Both Pirlo and Iniesta are 10/10 in playmaking, for sure, and concequently, i understand the why: .
Because Totti was overlooked in that, with Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo, Scholes etc. worldwide recognize as the best, it is easly to assume that Totti in some way was a little less of those legends. and had more in terms of assist-goals, balistic and goals.
And also because Totti wasn't to the general eyes a "classic regista", because of the misconception that "the regista" is a role when in reality it is a task.
To me the greater proof that he was on top of the game, also, in playmaking it is the world cup of 2006 after that he suffered a very bad injury that stopped one of his best season(individually) in terms of assist and goal-scoring.
in the eyes of Lippi(italy C.T.) he would've been the game changer for italy, the one that could've assured goals, assists(to Toni) and all-around the most impactfull player in that World-cup.
But instead with a metal plaque on his leg he was able to transform himself(Del Piero was his sub...) 4 assist and one decisive goal.
Starting from far behind and see those passes lines(obscure to almost all players) one of my favourite plays was that heel that sent Zambrotta to score against Ukraine.
Sorry for the essay xD but Totti gets me fired up.

The biggest difference between him and gerrard or messi or xavi ecc is that he decided to stay in his former knowing he wasn’t going to win ANYTHING.
In 2004 as roma was in 16th position (near to serie B) and Real madrid asked him to play w them, but he said NO.
For me it’s super easy to decide to stay in barcellona or liverpool when you know that every year you will win a trophy or compete for the ballon d’or or that you have a lot of super skilled teammates.
The history between totti and as roma is exactly like if CR7 decided to stay at sporting lisbona for life. Something crazy.
    He is THE LEGEND.

He had that peripheral vision and the smooth technique to make the most of it. King of assistance. 10/10!!! Easily!

Only he missed was the EPL cup and Ballon D'or but 3rd place of Ballon D'or the same time when Ronaldo and Messi is on their prime is considered incredible.

However I'd say playmaker 10/10 eyes closed, and Icon factor I don't know quite well what does it mean of course, but if he has 5/10 in trophies it is because he stayed loyal to his club as you said in the video, then as an Icon he should have 10/10, let's give him that at least. The way I see it, he's at least as good as Ronaldinho. Actually he had more goals and assists than the brazilian player in his career. Cheers!

O homem do título invicto, o volante do rolo compressor. O homem que ajudou a gloriosa Roma a levantar um Scudetto em 82, tornando-se o oitavo rei de Roma. Falcão "il divino"

adaptability in question because he played for only one team? keep in mind, he played for that one team over 25 years (as you yourself rightly stated). regardless of the badge on the shirt remaining forever unchanged, don't you think that 25 years with one team and a revolving door of coaches (as well as the players around him... besides de rossi, of course) kind of negates this idea that he isn't adaptable simply because he played with only one team? every manager brings a different philosophy and different demands as we all know, so that easily offsets the lack of evidence for how he would have performed if he had played for multiple clubs. this is all just meant to be honest and constructive criticism on my part, but it seems like a big oversight to not consider that metric for "adaptability" in place of how many clubs he played for. adaptability seems like a rather subjective thing anyway, as i could think of it as positional flexibility or ability to thrive in different football philosophies.
enjoyed the video. liverpool are my club through and through, but i carry a special love for roma too, especially totti and his magnificent career spanning pretty much my entire life. lots of nostalgia for both clubs.
