How good was Franck Ribery actually? #GOAT
New episode of a documentary series where I plan to present all the greatest players of all time and then give them a score so a ranking of the best players can be created. In this episode we take on Franck Ribery who played for Bayern Munich, Marseille and Fiorentina for most of his career, not only one of the greatest attacking midfielders of all time but one of the greatest players of all time. See how Franck Ribery ranks and just how good he actually was.

I still feel sour about him not winning the ballondor he was just magical in his prime truly underrated and under appreciated
The ballon dor has no value in my mind cause even when they repeatedly gave it to cr7 and messi(2 of the best of their generation) there were times Ribery, Snijder, Xavi all deserved it more than them

I know, I really wish he had won it in 2013...like Sneijder in 2010, with the separate awards by France Football and FIFA rather than the merged award, he would have won it, which makes it all the more frustrating.
Ribery in his prime was the best winger along with Robben, together they shaped an era at Bayern. Ribery was an excellent dribbler, gave countless assists, scored when he needed to and was incredibly strong defensively too.

Ribéry Is still OWNING the Italian league at his 38 years old with a mediocre at best squad and yet, you rate him 7 in longevity and adaptability? Lol... His dribbling should also be a clear 10, you just can't do what he does if you aren't perfect at dribbling. Dude had a traumatic childhood and still made him to the very top, he decided not to have any surgery to fix his scars, he carried Bayern and was always there when needed, his mentality should be a 9/10.
not sure about his mentality. not saying hes mentally weak but he always struck me as a guy who needed absolute confidence from his coach.
obviously this helps all players but some can only truly perform at their peak when this is the case. like i think ronaldo would just say "fuck u" and go out there and perform even if his manager has zero confidence in him whereas ribery needed that.
maybe an 8/10 would be more appropriate since he was a fighter and didnt just give up if his coach didnt fully trust him, but just that he couldnt really be his best if he didnt have the complete trust of the coach. (and yes, i know theres not that big a difference between 8 and 9 lol but whatever)

He did well for Munich, but some call it team 'hollywood', they are all stars.. one dude doesnt carry that.. players like Lahm, Kroos, Shweinsteiger, Mueller, Robben; Gomez...
And you're saying Ribery carried them? Not even close.. that was a team effort and when all cylinders were pumpin, that was one of the most loaded squads I've ever seen...
He is one of the very few genuine real proper contenders that never won the Ballon D'or, purely down to the fact that Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have been in it at the same time as him, which is a real shame.

The last game for Bayern's other legendary No. 7 Mehmet Scholl was a friendly match against Barcelona. It was a very emotional moment when Scholl got substituted an Ribéry came in, both wearing No. 7
This fella was good.... damn good, i can tell you that for nothing. I think everyone who ever saw him play, i did a lot as I'm old enough, thought very very highly of this fella, no matter what team you support. He was an absolute genius.
Ribery and Robben were absolutely outstanding together at Bayern, an almost unstoppable force in the German giants..

@@rwholemilkisgood5050 And in with stacked teams he played? Dude, he became 3rd after messi. Robben was as good if not better than him. But he definitely wasn't any better than cr7, nor messi. His argument for the award is cause he won more instead of individual brilliance. That Bayern side was magic and France was always a stacked team.
At 38 he’s still playing top flight football, recently signing for Salernitana in the Italian top flight. Most players his age would have retired, but he obviously still has the desire and passion to play for as long as he can.
One of my all time favourite players when his on top form no one can even get near this genius so under miss understood this man is a real old school player you call out for the ball it will be within a inch of your foot 🙃🙃👍

Compared to other world.class wingers, he was quite underrated relatively to them. He had a small golden period of appreciation, and thats about it. But the Robbery partnership was feckin deadly.
Ribery was like Iniesta on the wing
First on my team list if I can chose from all players who have every played. Best two way footballer of all time bar none. His side of the pitch was a no go zone for opponents. It was simply to dangerous to play anywhere near Frank. If the ball was on the same half of the pitch as Frank, regardless of who had possession, his opponent was in danger of conceding. If a single player got isolated with Frank, it was a foregone conclusion that a chance was coming for his team. I've never seen one player change the shape of opponents like Ribery.

Seriously i don't know whether am a good person for knowing Ribery as a footballer since my childhood and never bothered to find out the history of the scar on his face, but it never bothered me. I love the player so much especially during his partnership with Robben. I feel real bad for not knowing the cause of the scar. his story is indeed inspirational. I also suffered a childhood accident that broke all the front teeth in my mouth.

At any other time in the last 50yrs, Ribery would of won balloon d'Or without a doubt? Like one or 2 other players though tbh? But because he played when Messi and CR7 were playing, he had very little chance really, like all the other world class players who are human. Because they were up against 2 super human beings.
People will look back on this time in football with awe and amazement IMO? We're so lucky to be able to witness the 2 best ever players, playing at the same time and pushing each other to greater levels.
That's rubbish. It's because of people like you fawning over them that some players didn't win the Ballon d'Or when they should have. Cristiano and Messi did not deserve it in 2013, Ribery did, and he should've won it. Also, they're not the two best ever players, Cristiano certainly not. Messi is arguable.
I must write a word, I really loved Franck's play at Bayern, he is a legend to be never forgotten
My Dad is a huge Bayern Munich fan and i remember to this day the game when Ribery player vs Bremen. We saw it on TV and i got reminded of the funny lines of the commentary. For example when Ribery was dribbling and joggling the ball the commentary said: "the circus is back in town" which means that's so hyper entertaining what he did

i just watched the video about Dani the portugese wonderkid. I never even heard about him lmao. Some richkid that got everything handed to him. Things happened that made him uninterested sure but what a stark contrast from some rich considered wonderkid with talent seemingly handed to him compared to Frank Ribery. Who for me WAS bayern munich for years. For me Ribery is another all time legend among French players an amazing player and I never even knew his whole story until now. It just makes you admire him THAT MUCH MORE.
You have to follow it up with Robben to complete the robbery. Great video! I kinda agree with the stats i would have dribbling at 10 and the icon factor at 9, he is without a doubt one of the biggest and best players the bundesliga has ever seen.

Speed and physicality were about a 9, he was a very difficult player to get the ball off and was fast with or without possession, both offensively and defensively.
His mentality is 9-10. Most players with personality and big game mentalities generally clash and he was in that Bayern team forever it seems. How difficult was he to keep in the team if he lasted around a decade?

What you talking kid his "trophy cabinet needed an international trophy"?!?! He won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. And he made a minor achievement of being the runner up of the FIFA World Cup 2006. He won like 25 trophies, and got the UEFA best player in Europe award, 4 x footballer of the year in France and Germany, He won trophies in three different countries and leagues. He is a legend in every way!

The international trophy and club level trophy is different, international trophy is like if he ever won the World Cup or euro with france national team, that wc runner up doesn't count as international trophies bruh, he only has club level trophies in his cabinet, he hasn't won any trophy under france national team.

One the last Matchday of the 18/19 season, the last game of "Robbery" they both scored in a 5:1 Victory over Frankfurt to secure the Bundesliga title. And Ribery did it in fashion, dribbling past two players inside the box and chipping the ball over the goalkeeper. I, as a Bayern fan, completely lost it...

I love Ribery and he definitely should have won his Ballon dor, was one of the greatest in his generation But the all time Franch players are stacked with Greatness, like G.O.A.T level greatness in Zidane, Platini, Papin, Henry, Viera, Thuram, Desaily.... The list goes on and on

Henry, papin scores for fun then there's Zizou who I consider the best of all time, Viera and Makelele were 2 of the most crucial CDMs in history then there's Thuram who gave Cafu(best RB in history imo) a run for His money ... There's soo much talent here I just don't see Ribery in the top 10 French players of all time but he's definitely the best of his generation
