- Football's Greatest was a TV series that started on the June 10, 2010 and finished on July 11, 2010 on Sky Sports for the World Cup. There were 26 shows in total all narrated by Richard Keys, 25 featuring one footballer for each show. The first show was about players that didn't make the following shows but were still notable, these players were Bobby Moore, Franco Baresi, George Weah, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lothar Matthäus, Gheorghe Hagi, Romário, Dennis Bergkamp, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Eric Cantona, Denis Law, David Beckham, Thierry Henry, Paolo Rossi, Sócrates, Steven Gerrard, Hristo Stoichkov, Ryan Giggs, Hugo Sánchez, Dino Zoff, Emilio Butragueño, Kaká, Roberto Baggio, Luis Figo and Lionel Messi.

Baggio should have a deducated video on him. Same goes for Romario. For me these two players were simply unstoppable at their prime. But, Baggio should have been on the same platform as that of Zidane or Maradona from public or critics' points of view. To me Baggio remains one of the best footballers to have ever graced the game. He was and always will remain one of the football's greatests....

In the 1994 semifinals, Roby suffered a hamstring injury, and played in the finals even though he was injured. It was bad luck, but four years later he made a comeback. He is a true hero and a true artist.

He almost scored and if he did , it would have beena golden goal and ZIdane would have gone out of the tournament without a single goal but with a red card. Point to note is Cesare Maldini did not start Baggio for the game vs France.

This series was produced before the 2010 World Cup. Messi was a top player for a while, but few would imagine how the football world would be dominated by two individually phenomenal aliens. Messi himself and Cristiano Ronaldo. That's why they don't make the final list.
Baggio doen't have his own episode in this series but Shearer does? No disrespect to Shearer (he was good), but that's an absurdity.

As a Milan supporter, it irritates me that they did Maldini but not Baresi. Maldini's the best left back ever, but Baresi was the best defender ever full stop and a bigger hero for Milan supporters than Maldini. Also,no Gianni Rivera.

Among the masses I think Maldini is far more talked about, certainly those who started taking an interest in football after Baresi retired.

@@kingdomofanimaria At his very best he was probably the second best striker in the world (van Basten being the first) in one of the strongest eras in football history (late 80s to mid 90s)
Klinsmann was a complete center forward. Great with both feet, excellent in the air, could score a wide variety of goals, always worked well with his strike partners throughout his career, was very unselfish, especially for a striker, never stopped trying (same as most Germans to be fair), could raise his game for the big tournaments.
His only weakness to speak of is that he wasn't as skilful on the ball as other great players but he more than made up for that with the stuff I mentioned.

I've never understood trainers who have the best goalscorer in the world and, instead of building the team around him, play him in a system that doesn't suit his style. The FIRST instruction you give your midfield is "Get the ball to him". He will not only score goals but will make his his team mates better players. The perfect example is Messi - utterly wasted for Argentina. He left when he was 12 and only goes home for internationals - and sometimes not even then!
