Products that ship with this much value are rare. We have been totally blown away by Viltrox’s DCX3 6 inch monitor kit. Interested to hear all your thoughts.
THANK YOU for mentioning the start up time... If it had been under 5sec I would have pulled the trigger immediately but I'm so disappointed it's so slow.... on the other hand , it has so many other strong points;; hard decision now.;;
So this is a good monitor? but it maxes up at 4k30p correct? so if I shoot in 4k 60p I will not get any video on the monitor correct? Is this the most afforfdable option with both HDMI and SDI connections and 1080p display...I need a 7" monitor but 6" might just be enough(I shoot live events so my camcorder is always on a tripod or monopod). Thanks
Hi there, that depends on ho wyou set up you HDMI out of the camera. For example, when using my R5, if the HDMI out is set to AUTO (the resolution and fame-rate selected are output) so in the case 4k 60 would not work on the DCX3. However, if you leave the settings the same and switch the HDMI to 1080, your monitor will continue to work when recording 4k 60P internally. I just retested this for you to make absolutely sure. You have to remember, all of these monitors are only 1080, so there is no advantage of sending a 4k signal to them as they will only downscale the image to 1080 anyway. Hope this helps.
@@cinechimp hey..right..I can choose the resolution to output in the camera- I will still record in 4k60p but for monitoring i dont need 60p -1080p 30fps will do just fine...right..I guess this monitor may be the best budget option. I hope the reported "issues" are isolated instances...I guess the other budget option is from Feelworld...I'll decide soon! thanks
don't be afraid to look at Shimbol, they have an amazing 7” called the ZO600MS www.zeroone-video.com/index.php?c=show&id=54 it's a little bit more expensive, but it's does everything. I also bought one of SHIMBOL's 5” version for the channel ruclips.net/video/BBFRtXJU-hM/видео.html and its a fantastic monitor, with excellent build quality etc...
You say it’s amazing what they can get out of an 8bit 60hz display but ALL monitors on the market are 8bit 60 hz. The atomos ones market themselves as 10bit but the panels themselves are 8bit.
This model from Viltrox is not a monitor recorder and the price point reflects that its size. Do you really need a monitor to record, nearly everything records 10 bit or some flavour of RAW internally now….and not many budget monitors offer both SDI and HDMI….
your video is under exposed. Everything looks so dark and devoid of contrast. It's like you're shooting this whole video via moonlight or your next door neighbour's light. For a hardware review, this type of moody look is just not appropriate.

that prerecorded shot with you guiding us through the controls was absolutely sick, love the coordination and effort put into this! keep that up!
Thanks jesse, appreciate it
I love your Partnerships & Monetization transparency claim
Why is that? As is, as stated. You’re throwing boomerangs and wrong bloke cobba. Maaaate sunburnt
Love that it comes with a case, and the incredible sun hood. The atomos shinobi ii does not even have hdmi out and costs more!
The only good thing about the shin obi is the camera control function
Nice review mate - subbed!
Much appreciated Jezza!
Oh that’s interesting about sdi hdmi cross conversion, I read somewhere that it can do that and I thought wow that’s amazing.
no it cant, confirmed by viltrox and tested by us. It does not work.

I guess the good thing is, it doesn't draw that much power, so if managed properly - shouldn't need to power it down very often.
Looks great. Gotta wait till December to get. Hate my Atomos Shinobi !!!
Well thats completely understandable.
Thats totally understandable.

Latency wise do your other monitors have less?
some do, some dont.

atomos are 8+2, not true 10 bit.
Can it record video ?
