@@MichaelBouhnikProductions I think the shinobi is cool but your not going to have SDI ports and an HDMI out port so that’s something to consider. I think this monitor functionality and features will be superior

@@JustFilmVibes the only thing is the viltrox has 2000 nits of brightness and the shinobi 1500... and i shoot a lot out in the sun...
currently i own the Desview R6 ii which has 2800 nits, but i'm not in love with the monitor...
that lag sounds like a deal breaker

Hi, the monitor look really great. I'm wanting to get into cinimatography and i was abit confused with rec709 and Log. On the monitor do you see the rec 709 footage which was log but now rec709 due to the applied lut? Is that how it works?
@@gamesta8353 yes which is helpful when filming with a lut on the monitor which you will use as a reference of how your video could look while filming it. So what you do is you make your video looks good with the lut on then you start recording. When your done use that same lut you used in the monitor and apply it to your recoded footage into your video editing software where you will see a great starting point for you to start color correcting and color grade to your liking
Hey man! Great video! A bit of a specific question for you, but I see you have a Komodo. I own a Komodo-X and the SDI protocol is such a pain to work around, but I know is a necessity to avoid burning out my SDI port on my Komodo. I seriously hate having to constantly disconnect my SDI cable, do you know if powering this monitor via USB-C would negate the need for the whole SDI protocol?
Secondly, how is the latency on the monitor via SDI? Is it noticeable?
And finally what is the biggest downside for this monitor? I’m coming from a Hollyland Mars M1 Enhanced and an Atomos Ninja V.

@@Taylored-Media Hey man how’s it going Rather stay with the M1 reasons why it’s a more professional monitor, it has better false color representation, also, the work around type-c is not ideal since it’s not passive power to the unit if it’s off, dc since it direct current it will still drive power like D-Tap, as long there’s a bettery connected, the easiest way to combat that SDI sequence is you can have the SDI connected to the Komodo always “BUT!”….. Make sure the end that connects to the monitor is disconnected when there’s no power! Both ends can’t be connected when there’s no power, one is fine but not both that’s how I been doing it, always connected to my Komodo, when I’m not using a monitor, but when I do obviously power the monitor and then connect. Hope that helps man!
I like my Sony viltrox lenses I think they’re the best affordable solution for my fx3, so I can tell this monitor will be good definitely will match my viltrox lenses thanks Rick!

it accepts signal up to 4k 30? Does that mean I can't shoot 4k 60 and have an image on the monitor? I don't quite understand how that works. Many people shoot 4k60 and even the new shinobi is max input at 4k 30.
@@definingslawek4731 Hey what’s up, it’s capable of viewing up to 4k/30 not 60 yea it’s a tough one to consider if You mostly do a lot of slo-mo i actually haven’t test it on 4k/60
@@JustFilmVibes Okay so it turns out you can just output from your camera at less than 4k seeing as we're not recording on the monitor anyway, and the monitor isnt 4k so then it's possible to monitor your 4k 60 as it will go to monitor at 1080 60.
@@definingslawek4731 I just tried it and it looks like it can monitor I set the camera to 4k/60 and the screen is displaying the footage I don’t see any problems
I wish these monitors would add support for the El Zone false color system. But that’s up to licensing cost and if they want to pay that. Also do you have a link for that V-mount to NPF battery converter you used for the monitor?
@@MrGone60 I totally agree with you man and that’s something that needs to be fixed because as a Sony shooter and red all these monitors should have the capability of doing that. @@JustFilmVibes I’m holding out to see what a potential Lumix S1H-II would look like, they have all the video centric software features you’d expect from Sony. Having to wait for updates for shutter angle. And yet still no false color or other video features is a drag.
The EL zone false color is already in the Atomos ninja monitors and the smallhd monitors. But again whatever agreement they came too with Ed Lachman is between those two parties.

@@rectape I’m not Gerald Undone I don’t get paid to do these videos all I get is to keep the item which doesn’t impact what I think of the monitor, did you watch the full video? For what your paying $268 it’s very hard to justify a con, fan noise you barely even hear it

@@rectape yea I’ve seen a few videos showing the problem with that is these individuals are point the Mic Directly to the Microphone so what’s to be expected? If If your going to use this monitor on a filmmaking basis the fan noise will never be Loud enough to compromise your audio not even on a documentary job. The fan of your light will be louder. Put it this way everyone talks great things about the átomos monitors that they are the best like small HD, they have the loudest fans on any monitor on the market but they are being used 90% of the time because of their brand name therefore they don’t get judged only the cheap ones. @@kernzilla I hear ya man listen just do your research and see what’s best for you if you don’t wanna break the bank and all you need is a do it all monitor that has great exposure tools and it’s going to get 95% of the job done then I’d say go with this monitor being that your future proof you have HDMI and SDI, Also if you’re looking for power solutions and accessories, and from a company based in USA check out Indi-Pro I started using their batteries, and I can honestly say they’re legit one of the owners was the cofounders of CORE SWX which is a very expensive brand he started Indi Pro now same technology and two year warranty no questions ask and you don’t have to send these batteries to China. 1.4 HDMI not good,
HDMI 1.4 is perfectly fine. 1.4 allows up to 4k30 at 100 mbit/s.
