Hey man! Great video! A bit of a specific question for you, but I see you have a Komodo. I own a Komodo-X and the SDI protocol is such a pain to work around, but I know is a necessity to avoid burning out my SDI port on my Komodo. I seriously hate having to constantly disconnect my SDI cable, do you know if powering this monitor via USB-C would negate the need for the whole SDI protocol? Secondly, how is the latency on the monitor via SDI? Is it noticeable? And finally what is the biggest downside for this monitor? I’m coming from a Hollyland Mars M1 Enhanced and an Atomos Ninja V. Thanks in advance! 😁
@@Taylored-Media Hey man how’s it going Rather stay with the M1 reasons why it’s a more professional monitor, it has better false color representation, also, the work around type-c is not ideal since it’s not passive power to the unit if it’s off, dc since it direct current it will still drive power like D-Tap, as long there’s a bettery connected, the easiest way to combat that SDI sequence is you can have the SDI connected to the Komodo always “BUT!”….. Make sure the end that connects to the monitor is disconnected when there’s no power! Both ends can’t be connected when there’s no power, one is fine but not both that’s how I been doing it, always connected to my Komodo, when I’m not using a monitor, but when I do obviously power the monitor and then connect. Hope that helps man!
Great content keep it coming!

Hope to see you soon in the next vid!!!!
@@iamRickBonilla good info, and appreciate the honest answer (sooo hard to come by on YT these days!). seems like a good buy at the price point, just on the fence about getting one of these or two of their 550 Pro models for about the same money 🤔 as always, too much stuff to buy hahahaaa
@@kernzilla I hear ya man listen just do your research and see what’s best for you if you don’t wanna break the bank and all you need is a do it all monitor that has great exposure tools and it’s going to get 95% of the job done then I’d say go with this monitor being that your future proof you have HDMI and SDI, Also if you’re looking for power solutions and accessories, and from a company based in USA check out Indi-Pro I started using their batteries, and I can honestly say they’re legit one of the owners was the cofounders of CORE SWX which is a very expensive brand he started Indi Pro now same technology and two year warranty no questions ask and you don’t have to send these batteries to China. You send them here New York Long Island. I don’t have an affiliate link with them, but I do have a coupon code for you guys to save. Use IAMRICKBONILLA for 15% off. At least I managed to get that for my viewers and myself. lol
I wish these monitors would add support for the El Zone false color system. But that’s up to licensing cost and if they want to pay that. Also do you have a link for that V-mount to NPF battery converter you used for the monitor?
@@MrGone60 I totally agree with you man and that’s something that needs to be fixed because as a Sony shooter and red all these monitors should have the capability of doing that. And yeah, I do have the link for that VM to NPF - Open Box is $49 indiprotools.com/products/open-box-v-mount-to-np-f-battery-converter-plate if you want it new it’s $89 indiprotools.com/products/v-mount-to-np-f-battery-converter-plate - Use Code IAMRICKBONILLA to save 15% off
@@iamRickBonilla I’m holding out to see what a potential Lumix S1H-II would look like, they have all the video centric software features you’d expect from Sony. Having to wait for updates for shutter angle. And yet still no false color or other video features is a drag. The EL zone false color is already in the Atomos ninja monitors and the smallhd monitors. But again whatever agreement they came too with Ed Lachman is between those two parties. Thank you very much for the link. I hope you have a wonderful and safe day.
@@MrGone60 absolutely brother thank you for stopping by to the channel. I appreciate these conversations. It’s only gonna get me more better at the channel and obviously learn from you guys cause honestly, I want to know my viewers if it’s not for you guys I wouldn’t be doing this and this is the ultimate goal interacting with you guys so yeah man stay safe. Be blessed. Come back working on our new video. Hope to see you soon.
I like my Sony viltrox lenses I think they’re the best affordable solution for my fx3, so I can tell this monitor will be good definitely will match my viltrox lenses thanks Rick!
@@iFilmiShoot Yea man I also have viltrox lenses so when I heard they were releasing this monitor I wanted to make a video about!
Great video Rick! I like that monitor would you say it’s a solid contender to like PortKeys or Even Átomos?
@@ImLouGaffer_CA hey thanks for watching, it’s closer to what PortKeys has to offer, Not like átomos but having SDI is awesome 😎

He has a pre-production model. The monitor isn’t out yet
Just when I was about to buy a monitor what’s the price? Thanks for the video looks promising!
@@Chris_Films4Ever thanks man, so for the price so for this version is priced at $268 and for the non sdi version is $238 but I’d go for the sdi one since it has both hdmi and sdi

Another really great way to get the dreamy look in camera (outside of visible light rays and some slight post work) is to stack a 1/4 promist filter along with a Tiffen smoque (2 or 3 level) filter. Then in post ( Resolve in my case) dial the midtone detail back and add an additional node with the glow effect. Dial threshold fully down and set blend mode to softlight.
Nice thanks for the input my guy!
This what I been waiting on. 😂
