Another really great way to get the dreamy look in camera (outside of visible light rays and some slight post work) is to stack a 1/4 promist filter along with a Tiffen smoque (2 or 3 level) filter. Then in post ( Resolve in my case) dial the midtone detail back and add an additional node with the glow effect. Dial threshold fully down and set blend mode to softlight.
