- This video will show you how to replace the serpentine belt, belt tensioner, and both idler pulleys on the 6.6L Duramax Diesel engine found in the Chevy Silverados and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 trucks. This was done on a 2005 LLY duramax but should be the same procedure for the 2002-2016 duramax diesel. All parts were purchased from Amazon and I will provide links before you order the serpentine belt double check to see what alternator you have it will be the 105A or the 145A it will be stamped on the right side of the alternator. I will provide a link for both belts (GM also put dual alternators in some of these trucks and if your truck was made for California emission standards these belts will not fit due to a separate vacuum pump equipped) .

A very informative video, thank you for this information.
It’s a little easier to route the belt around the tensioner before bolting it on. I had an accident and had the front clip replaced. The replacement fan shroud had many veins for support, had to cut out 2 of them, still took more than an hour and needed a cheater bar to loosen the tensioner. This used to take 15 minutes or so, belts should be easy but sometimes not so much. Wish I found this video before replacing mine. Thanks.
Excellent video. Thank you for making it!
Nice..!!..So much more room on this Model than my 2007 Duramax Classic....
Great video, thank you for sharing!
THANKYOU SO MUCH, watching your video just to know where to look to check alternator amperage,

great vid thanks
Thanks!!!
Was your OEM tensioner pulley plastic? Also was your new pulley metal or plastic?
I would spin idler and tension pulley to check for bad bearing while the belt was off.
Did you even watch the video...
Do you have the diagram for this? I have 1 alt, AC and an air pump. Can't seem to find one.
I just took a screen shot of the diagram when he shows it. Mine's all faded out...
