I've seen a lot of tutorial on YT for NMM and other stuff, and got to say - your videos a one of the best we will watch your career with great interest
If I were going to do an airbrush for the first black, but didn’t wanna use Vallejo and instead tamiya, would this still work ? I’m asking bc my airbrush gets stopped up every time i use vmc black even w air brush thinner and flow improver . And I’ve not had any issues with Tamiya thru airbrush work
Thanks for the video. Obviously when you paint this mini, you are positioning it at the best viewing angle to decide where your imaginary light source is in order to paint the highlights, but how do you decide where to place highlights when you turn the model round to paint the back? Do you literally just do the same again at a 180 degree rotation? Or 3 positions at 120 each? Or just keep it super simple at the back?
Amazing, it is like black NMM :) It would be also interesting to make a video about painting black shiny leather, like on Drukhari or Daughters of Khaine.
Nice tutorial! Do you think these colours & effect would be achievable with an airbrush instead? Trying to work out a dark armour style for ultramarine infiltrators (unless I try to create a cammo scheme).
Really impressive. I was wondering: I am about to paint black templars. I want to do them with a lot of battle damage and weathering. But in this case, does it make any sense to do the highlight as you do? Or is it antithetical?
Awesome guys, been waiting for this and patreon too. Would you ever airbrush sisters of battle? I found it little hard to get variance on the small panels unlike a marine. But maybe I’m being to heavy handed
Yeah totally. Or possibly a combo. We'll be doing a lot of tutorials using both/individually. The thing with sisters is you'd need to decide do i want to airbrush the armour or the cloth?
hi andy. could you try to make the video a little brighter? I think its just a little bit to dark. also it looks unsharpened/raw. its not blurry or out of focus but not really sharp like it should be at full hd. I think (more) sharpening in postproduction could increase the quality a lot.
Well done buddy Thought we would help support by giving a subscribe from Twisted dice Keep up the awesome work and hope to catch you on a painting course when you back up and running again Darren
a long time viewer of trapped under plastic and goobertown just stumbled upon you had to watch a couple liked it.
the wait is over!!! nicely done tutorial, looking forward to those to come.
One of the best tutorials I have ever seen. Can't wait to paint my sister's in this way.

I prefer more blueish-tone of black armor highlights so I guess I just have to use something like Dark Reaper instead of Grey?
Thanks for the video.

We'll see at where we can add that into a tutorial.
Could you do a list of the paints you use in the beginning?
The list is in the description. But we will look at adding in a slide to the video in future. Thanks for the suggestion.
Niceee
Highlights that look so natural, that when i saw the thumbnail i thought it was his lighting set up...
Is it generally better to base coat/initial highlight with an airbrush or brush? Or is it more just personal opinion?
Excellent. Now to work on Horus Heresy 1st Legion

Definitely. Check out our Black Templars or 30k Dark Angels videos for airbrush black recipes

You can still do the highlights, make sure your battle damage cuts through them.

We've identified both those issues and you should be seeing improvements in both very soon.
