The highlights on the sharp edged cloth pieces was a real eye opener for me. Keep it simple and let the shape do the work, not everything needs to be a million colours blended together. I would love to see a diary of these as the spear elves grow in number :)
Diary! Diary! Diary!!! Thanks for the wicked scheme. I am going to give this a shot on the Direchasm minis. I am already pre-dreading blocking in brown.
This was great, thanks Andy! I’ve been on the lookout for a good quality army painting tutorial for the Lumineth that was more than just Contrast paints, this was perfect! Really interested in the video diary of this project.
Thank you, they are a tough army to paint regardless. I tried to find the balance with simple steps but done well. I will do the diary updates for sure! Andy
i would love the diary, i just love seeing people armies etc. id love a deep dive and showcase on any armies u lot have tbh, id watch all that stuff, just showing them off its a real treat to see a proper army painted. love the schemes and the vid, looking forward to what u guys do next. cheers.
Yea it’s tough one. Some armies are just detailed by nature I guess? I tried to keep as many things to two steps as possible, like the blue is just base and one highlight. Glad you think it’s worth the end result though. Andy
Just finished the video. I like the almost pearlescent lacquer texture you've given to the armor, I can see myself using this recipe for white flags or such on my Crimson Dawn Lumineth army. Also, after 5 years of painting High Elves in Warhammer fantasy, I didn't want to paint pupils on my spearmen anymore, such a challenge lol! Hence why I went with the sunlight yellow eyes like in Hellboy. Thanks for all of your hard work in making great hobby content
Amazing stuff Andy, really enjoyed it. I tend to watch all the videos you guys make regardless of faction and system. By doing so I pic up something new and interesting each time from each artist.
This came at the perfect time for me, I was struggling with the white armor on my Wardens and I wanted to put some purple tones in the shadows anyway. Thanks!
You are phenomenal at painting these - trying my hand but MAN - any tips on applying that brown around the shield and shoulders so that I don't hit areas of white? It's tough!
amazing work! 2 quick questions: 1. would basecoating white not have been easier for initial coverage? 2. do you think airbrush is essential here to make it look good or would simple layering (so harder to get seamless transition) could also give similar results?
The way I started painting my Lumineth I honestly wasn't too happy with. I couldn't pinpoint the exact look and feel that I wanted from the models, but seeing this I realise that this is exactly what I wanted from the very beginning. I guess I know how I'm painting my army now! Thanks a lot for this - inspiring stuff! Just wanted to ask, how were the little blue tassels painted? And I think I see a tiny bit of lilac on the plume - was that just the same mix as the gems?
super nice video and colour scheme. I would personally skip the brown step and directly paint gold > brown oil wash > remove the spill on the white with white spirit and cotton and you are se!. As long as the gold is a water based a acrylic (therefore no Vallejo liquid gold unfortunately) u don't even need to varnish as white spirit, being oily, does not mix with water. I have to try!
Completely inspired me to build and paint up some Lumineth now. Great timing. And yes to the video journals for building these. Any insights you have along the way while painting up the army
Amazing work Great production video. I noticed you used GW - Warpfiend Grey for the base colour through the air brush. Did you use a thinner or Flow improver to dilute this paint, so it did not clog your airbrush? If so what do you recommend?
Hi Brother , i very like your videos , am making an army with those colors, am starting and i very like what you did with Lumineth, Question , you are using GW - Warpfiend Grey with airspray , have you add something before Airspray?
Looks so clean and great detail. Using brown under gold is a great tip. Are you guys planning on painting any Necromunda?? Hardly any good tutorials online. Also just grabbed an infinity brush and love it.
Thanks a lot! I wanted to do some Van Saar but didn’t get around to it yet. Too many cool minis! Glad you like the brush, it’s a great bit of kit! Andy
Awesome results! With respect to the tedious Rhinox Hide step, would it be an option to replace that with a brown oil wash in the recesses between the gold and the surrounding area?
Hello, sorry I live on México but here I cant get scale75 colors , is there any vallejo colors who can replace the scale75 colors ? For me its imposible to get scale75 colors, so can you please tell me witch colors should I use to replace those? Thank you for your comments.
Great video :) I started using the the white recipe on my lumineth after watching this video! I didn't realize that it came from Andy FREAKING W. until I went on to insta later on. Super inspiring, heard all the love from Miniac and co. but great to finally dive into your work. Just curious, do you have a similar color for the AK light flesh step? I went from WP grey, to Uth grey to white because I didn't have that color. I have mostly Citadel and Vallejo. Just curious on your thoughts of anything even close. Thank you for your time : )
Ours is full aluminium body ( so a lot lighter) comes with a unique trigger, and comes with our preferred load out of .4mm needle, large cup and eyeline cup.
hey great video! first time using airbrush and the colors you use look perfect for the armor! buying the colours, do you buy the GW "Air" ones or just standard colour-pots? and do you use water or paint thinner for your airbursh? Thanks in advance @Cult of Paint :)
I just use the regular ones. I use Vallejo thinner and it works really great. I dilute them quite a lot and just apply more coats. They are great once you get the hang of the dilution!
Do you have a formula for how you get your paints to such perfect consistency? I just battled with my airbrush for about an hour and I couldn't get it right
Amazing work - as I have no accuracy at all in doing trim, what do you do when you repair any mistakes with doing the rhinox hide? Is there a specific mix if paints you use to fix the white?
I’ve made a lot of mistakes so far (8 down) and I’ve found if I’m fast I can wipe them away with a clean brush. Some I had to layer over with the same colours. A bit like when I highlight the cloth, I try and find a mix that’s good enough. It’s just not a fun job, simple as really! But the reward is worth it and after that they are very easy.
Hi, I'm new painter (but veretan warhammer builder xD), kinda bad at painting due to my shaking disease, but I would like your opinion on colors, trying to paint more or less custom lumineth with red and yellow colors, like 2 factions mixed. I was very interested by your mix of colors and I would like to know what would you use to make red/orange/yellow lumineth :)
Amazing job! I have a question regarding metallic paints and brush.. Do you use an expensive brush for metallic paints? I heard that they ruin kolinsky brushes. I am stuck using cheap brushes with poor tips atm but metallic details are really hard to paint with that :/
Great work! I have started on the 4 Lumineth that are in the Direchasm box and I am finding them so hard to paint! They are so small compared to the usual space marines I paint.
Are these the new high elves we waited so long for? What's the big deal?! They literally spent yrs developing them for a mediocre result. Not impressed.
The purple in the shadows = chef's kiss.
The video diary sounds like a good idea. Army painting can see like a mammoth task at times.
It would be nice to share it with you guys!
Andy
I love the white armour. The warm pale yellow highlight and pale violet shadows really gives it a pearlescent look.
Thanks! I think it’s more interesting than plain white but not much harder, just the right choices.
Andy
It's also a brilliant use of subtly transitioning from cold to warm colours
I haven't studied art but I know there is a name for it
The highlights on the sharp edged cloth pieces was a real eye opener for me. Keep it simple and let the shape do the work, not everything needs to be a million colours blended together.
I would love to see a diary of these as the spear elves grow in number :)
Sometimes you look at how things behave in real life and it makes painting much easier!
Beautiful work. This is the first piece of media that has made me want to paint Lumineth Realm Lords so cheers.
Diary! Diary! Diary!!!
Thanks for the wicked scheme. I am going to give this a shot on the Direchasm minis. I am already pre-dreading blocking in brown.
They are a really nice set! It is the worst stage, but after that it’s easy and worth it!
Amazing scheme, going to give it a go. First time using my airbrush for more than just priming. Thanks for the tutorial!
Just take your time and you’ll enjoy!
Beautiful, smooth color blending! Impressive work!
Andy
You lads timed this perfectly, given all the new reveals!
I am very excited needless to say! Hopefully cover some of those newer ones down the line as well.
Andy
5:58 Great shout! Will try that myself more often.
i would love the diary, i just love seeing people armies etc. id love a deep dive and showcase on any armies u lot have tbh, id watch all that stuff, just showing them off its a real treat to see a proper army painted. love the schemes and the vid, looking forward to what u guys do next. cheers.
Love seeing your work. Still looks a little like magic to me, I watch your steps and still have no idea of how it was done. Great stuff!
Ha thanks! I always try to make it clear and achievable, but glad you still think it’s magic!
Andy
Looks fantastic. I ordered some ProAcryl metallics the other day and now I'm really excited to try them out.
Love em. I’m sure you’ll enjoy!
Andy
This looks superb! Saved for future reference. This seems quite detailed to do an entire army but definetely worth the end result.
Yea it’s tough one. Some armies are just detailed by nature I guess? I tried to keep as many things to two steps as possible, like the blue is just base and one highlight. Glad you think it’s worth the end result though.
Andy
Love the army painting videos where you balance quality and speed
Thanks for the video. Your blends are so smooth! I learn something new with each video
Just finished the video. I like the almost pearlescent lacquer texture you've given to the armor, I can see myself using this recipe for white flags or such on my Crimson Dawn Lumineth army. Amazing stuff Andy, really enjoyed it. I tend to watch all the videos you guys make regardless of faction and system. By doing so I pic up something new and interesting each time from each artist.
This is amazing. I'm sure you made it look so much easier than it actually is
Awesome stuff for army painting. That cloak on Eltharion though, jaw-dropping.
Thanks! I am looking forward to doing more cloaks on the characters.
Andy
Ooo I'm glad I found this channel. Found a way to simplify detailed painting.
Love it! , I want to 'borrow' your colours for my Harbringers 40k.. that purple is RAD!
Any tips on painting the armour by hand ?
Really like the video
Keep up the great work
It can be done but man it would take some seriously good glazing skills and patiance
I like your way of painting them a lot! To my mind they look better than the ones on the sold boxes.
This came at the perfect time for me, I was struggling with the white armor on my Wardens and I wanted to put some purple tones in the shadows anyway. Thanks!
That’s great! I hope you like the Warpfiend grey. It seemed the easiest to me.
Andy
You are phenomenal at painting these - trying my hand but MAN - any tips on applying that brown around the shield and shoulders so that I don't hit areas of white? It's tough!
Looks awesome Andy! A video diary as you progress through the army would be great 🤘🏼
Cheers Paul! I will do for sure. Hoping after 20 spears are under my belt it flows a bit better!
Andy
love it andy!!! thank you veery much! very inspiring!!
amazing work! 2 quick questions:
1. would basecoating white not have been easier for initial coverage?
2. do you think airbrush is essential here to make it look good or would simple layering (so harder to get seamless transition) could also give similar results?
Beautiful work. Man this range is awesome. But all that trim would kill me
The way I started painting my Lumineth I honestly wasn't too happy with. I guess I know how I'm painting my army now! Thanks a lot for this - inspiring stuff! Just wanted to ask, how were the little blue tassels painted? The day I can paint like this is the day I'm happy
That’s a beautiful paint job nice work man
Happy elves running through the fields sounds nice.
It’s certainly not the grimdark future! 😂
This is terrific. Wat if you has an wizard. What color woud you choose for the spell glow?
super nice video and colour scheme. I would personally skip the brown step and directly paint gold > brown oil wash > remove the spill on the white with white spirit and cotton and you are se!. Video diary sounds great! Thanks for the video.
Awesome work they look amazing!
Stupendous job! I can't do this but its great to watch!❤
Amazing skills, thanks for sharing
I too would love a MOIST CARESS from Andy Wardle
It’s the buzz technique of 2021
I think that costs extra...
Great video! Thanks for it a lot. As a new painter I wonder how to you varnish the model without killing the metalic nature of that gold
Hey there loving the color scheme, awesome job 👍 is there any chance of showing how to achieve this with a brush as well. Again great job 👍
Who doesn't love using a moist caress on their models? Especially when the results look like this !
For those planning to paint these, it helped tremendously to NOT glue the shield. Hope this helps.
As always amazing job!
Pro Acryl have been out of the metallics for a few days. Is there a substitute you would recommend?
Amazing work Great production video. I noticed you used GW - Warpfiend Grey for the base colour through the air brush. Did you use a thinner or Flow improver to dilute this paint, so it did not clog your airbrush? If so what do you recommend?
I use Vallejo thinner when I spray GW paints! I have no issues, but use them pretty thin and go for more coats.
Many thanks for your reply, I will try it out:)
Hey, where did you find the base @ 3:02 ?? Thank you!!
Killer work mate! What do you use to thin citadel paints for the airbrush?..
Amazing job !!! Pls keep going !!
Hi Brother , i very like your videos , am making an army with those colors, am starting and i very like what you did with Lumineth, Question , you are using GW - Warpfiend Grey with airspray , have you add something before Airspray?
Really smooth

Wow, that is incredible, love it 👍
Does Vallejo have an alternative to paint? I'm about the color knight-questor flesh.
I'm no pro painter but, could you also use a dark wash or thinned rhinox hide around the edges of the gold to avoid all the brown layer work?
Awesome results! With respect to the tedious Rhinox Hide step, would it be an option to replace that with a brown oil wash in the recesses between the gold and the surrounding area?
I dont know how translucent/opaque those golds are but generally a good brown base for golds helps add a lot of richness

the off brown which colour is? the one that highlight with scale rainy grey?
awesome scheme, id love to see progress of this army, but also, raven guard tutorial when?
Will share the progress for sure! I would probably paint Ravens like I did the sisters of battle.
Andy
Really nice scheme. Like it very much.
I found hard to buy those in China:
PA: Bronze
,PA: Light Bronze,PA: Silver
Is there any replacement for those?
Awesome tutorials! Whats the difference between the normal infinity and the cult of paint version?
Ours is full aluminium body ( so a lot lighter) comes with a unique trigger, and comes with our preferred load out of .4mm needle, large cup and eyeline cup.
lovely
Will your army have a Scinari? I just got one and before I paint would love seeing how you did yours :) Great video!
She isn’t at the top of my to do list, but if I do I will make a tutorial for sure! I need the kangaroos first! 😅
Andy

Your normal brush is fine. Will they eventually ruin it? Yeah probably, but you’ll be wanting a new brush by then anyway
@@cultofpaint Thank you for the quick answer!
Magnifique !!
So nice
Thanks!
Wow. Nice! :)
How on... are you going to do twenty of these at the same time (i.e. as a batch)? If so, hats off. Do you really recommend doing so many?
Currently making my way through 30 and I will let you know the ups and downs in the next video on them!
Andy
Andy: Is the light flesh from ak similar to the vallejo light flesh?
Basically the same! You just need a light peach/pink. You could just add a tiny bit of bright orange to white.
@@cultofpaint thanks! I have the vallejo light flesh.
Great work! I have started on the 4 Lumineth that are in the Direchasm box and I am finding them so hard to paint! They are so small compared to the usual space marines I paint.
Definitely A challenging army to paint. Sometimes there aren’t any shortcuts, but the result is very rewarding if you push through!
Andy
Looks great as usual. Your camera lens needs a clean through! 😅
I think that’s my desk as the lens is brand new 😂
@@cultofpaint ah true, can see it disappear behind the figures at times. Wasn't paying enough attention to the blobs obviously 😅
😍

Im thinking about aplying this scheme to Stormcast, what do you think about it?
When Cult of Paint "Army painting" is the rest of the worlds Display painting...;
Do you guys need only recruit people with soothing voices?
I’m just glad you didn’t ask where the usual voice is!
Andy
Video dairy day #10. Food has lost all taste after blocking in runic hide on 20 spearmen
Haha exactly! Currently I am doing 2 per day!
Andy
Violet? I'd call that lilac or lavender no?
A moist caress of zandri dust 🤣
The only way to “dry brush” 😁
Great painting and beautiful scheme but this is not army painting! This is display level / high tabletop
We thought about that, It’s difficult to title things sometimes. This is how I’m painting my army so I kept that name.
Andy
Are these the new high elves we waited so long for? What's the big deal?! They literally spent yrs developing them for a mediocre result. Not impressed.
