I don't think anyone who has been keeping in touch with the development of this game has high expectations for the remaining seasons. 4 seasons but they never specified how much content they were going to add. Dice could do the bare minimum and we'll have to accept it. If only they didn't have to spend so much time fixing the game. We should've gotten at least 4 new maps, 4 new guns and 4 new vehicles in the current season. Would've kept people satisfied.

I want this game to die so that hopefully dice and EA will actually learn their lesson and see that can’t release broken games anymore.
2042 just needs to end. Finish the promised seasons, then stay studio quiet for the next 4 years while they work on a new battlefield game to redeem themselves. Don’t promise anything, don’t tell us that you are ahead of schedule with 200 dev teams working on the game. Just remaster BF3 in the mean time. To teach all the DICE devs what a good game is.

While true, would that have still allowed/encouraged them to keep the features from previous BFs or just launch it with little to no bugs?
I have my doubts personally. Personally it feels like this game is a let down from a conceptual and creative standpoint since the beginning. And I believe it would have the same lack of features and foolish design choices had it launched later.

So many players hated on Premium model in older BFs, i always loved it, that was the ultimate way to support the game, yes you had to pay few more bucks to get your hands on it usually, but it provided so much more that its still decent even 10 years later.
That's what I've been saying since BFV, if they lowered the pice point a bit maybe people wouldn't have hated it as much.

Jesus christ for the hundredth time premium isn't inherently better than live service, it's just that EA has more reason to make DICE support the game long term if people payed 50 dollars for a season pass than if they paid nothing yet.
Live service is better in other games. Even Battlefront 2 managed to turn it around with live service.
I never hated premium. The second I heard they were doing away with it I thought “oh no.”
the easy and only solution: stop buying anything from EA/Dice. they will continue to piss on our heads and tell us, it´s raining. ignore the next teaser, do not preorder or day1-purchase under any circumstances.

there's going to be a new map for every season, we already know this. they're legally obligated to make them due to the pre-sale promises. so we get 4 new maps, some boxes added to old maps for a year. then there will be no more support for 2042
At this point I’m done with Dice. I never got BFV because of the studios behaviour during development, but got 2042 because I thought it was a return to greatness.
The thing I was most hyped for was portal mode and they have completely neglected it for the failed main game. I would have kept playing if they had developed portal more, but they just don’t care anymore.
I was excited about Portal and then they shut off exp.
Thankfully they added it back w ability to see what exp you get.
I want to like this game, I really do. I’ve been a BF fan for 20 years, but this game is just painful. Specialist, and their abilities, kill the fun this game has. It’s a mess.
It will be interesting to see how this game fairs once Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2 release.

I hear a lot of people say that Battlefield V and Battlefield 1 and 4 all took a long while to get on track but the difference is those games had a good foundation (maybe not V but I digress) yet they still had a bunch of weapons and maps that were at least fun to play. The problem with 2042 is that is has way too few weapons, clunky maps. And even if they add more content the content that they add is just overwashed by the mediocrity. Unless they can fix the maps, add more weapons, all of which I doubt they can it’s not gonna justify the wait.
Everyone take bf4 as an example of bad launch becoming a great game after several months (8 months to become what it is now)... it is a year now for bf2042 and the game is just "starting to become good" with still 0 content added

There is no more comparison possible between those games, bf2042 is far far away from bf4 come back ^^' and for the people that say we need to give Dice a chance because of bf4 comeback : we already give 2042 way more time than bf4 and we still can't see any comeback even with a good x12 scope
Yeah I don't see why the new leaders would want to provide more support than the bare minimum. Likely they are looking ahead for their release of the next BF. Hopefully they'll actually put more care into it.

I like the game...I think bf2042 is kinda cool. I like the setting. It might not be everyone's battlefield but I like it.
2042 isn't a "live service" live service requires constant support. Bug fixes and Adding Animations isn't a "Live service" live service implies Content, not thing that should be added or ironed out in Beta. They lied to us and obviously hired employee that don't know what they're doing.
It's a crazy concept. Maps are the literal battlefield. No maps, no battlefield.
i think another problem is the lack of 2042 guns and vehicles like only 2 tanks and jets 4 helis and 2 transports and ofc 1 apc 1 car 1 water vehicle and one AA
They are only releasing a handful of maps just to meet their obligation of 4 seasons. Then they won't have to give out any refunds.
If only all these shiny BF4 and BF1 maps and game modes were alive longer than just two months after release...

Need to add more portal maps with every season. Portals is the sole reason the game isn't dead and it's what I play and many of the servers and matches have a que just getting into those amazing servers. (Especially the top rush servers)
I love this game, i don't really care about new maps. I'd love some more guns in the game and something to play for, some progression system. Like the skins they did in bf4, that was a really nice system imo. That's the thing I misd most. The skins you can get now are really easy to get, beside that you can "elite" your guns/vehicles. That's the thing I'm going for now. It needs some more tbh...
I think that the fact that not launching a main campaign after them directly, because with a campaign could it be easier to create a map from a terrain already created on a campaign
It's almost literally impossible for DICE to release more than one map in S2. This studio is done, their work trash, their legacy tarnished. Abandon all hope, ye who wander here.
I’m curious to think if they actually need more maps to “sell” the game. It’s harder enough to have a bf game with more then 3 or 4 maps at best that people consistently like to play and depending on game mode.
Definitely not saying they don’t need more maps. I think they need everything at this point…

Now we know it’s practically gonna be 1 map per season people have lost interest. Most were hopeful next season’s have the usual 4 maps, multiple useful weapons and vehicles. This is just dice giving us scrapes at this point. Better than nothing. Lol.
All I know is all my friends who I play battlefield with won’t play 2042 just because of the specialists if they just put them in a class based system I bet so many people would come back

Man...the maps in BF2042 are terrible. I absolutely loathe some and tolerate others. Unfortunately, players have no way to choose which maps they play (apart from Portal). This game is terrible. I regret getting the Ultimate Edition.
Not the only one. I even went to ps support and asked for a refund because I was scammed out of 110 quid. It was denied.

A bunch of EA lies, "the game is ahead of scheduled", Canceling support for BFV and SW:BF2 for 2042, and no campaign to focus on crap multiplayer. 2042 was dead before it launched, enjoy it while you can, before EA pulls the plug and takes theirs losses. Disgrace to EA as a company and to the Battlefield franchise.
I'd be shocked if it's more than 1 new map per season. I'd like more than that, but I just have no expectation that will happen.

This game was over for me a long time ago but I still feel disappointed every time I hear news about this game. Such a shame.

Dice are going to deliver what they said they would. No more, no less. I don't understand why so many have the expectation that they should go above and beyond what they have promised. Especially now the player base is a fraction of what it was and most people claim nothing will bring them back.
EA wants to make BF into a profit making machine like Apex legends. They make very conservative and efficient product to minimize their lose more while maximizing their profit. Until BF's main game sells more than their expectations, they wont further support it. Previously Premium was a better way for making game good in future. As that was removed now, they wont waste more resource in to making it good.
If they wanted to sell BF like hotcakes then should listen to what the fans wanted instead of reinventing the wheel every damn time like ditching the class system in favor for the stupid unbalanced Specialshits, Large maps with no cover, No destruction, No server browser, No downgrading of movement and vehicle distribution...

iv played every single BF game since BF2 on PC (even the small arcade ones) and this is the first one I havent bought. at this point I dont really care what they add, its too late. There are so many other better options atm theres no point in sticking around.

Yeah but they aren’t dense, they have POI spread out over empty space and each map is full of reused assets, it’s not like they’re spending time on anything else since they only release two weapons a season.

Map rotation is simply awful. Even never pressing A to continue still gives you the same 4 maps over and over on conquest.
They have to have 24/7 new map, otherwise you would never get to play it. AWFUL!!!

Im sad it’s gotten to this point with dice, after bf1 released, nobody would’ve fathomed this is where the franchise would be a couple years later. Let’s be honest, at this point 2042 is a lost cause. Content is minimal, actual changes to core gameplay feel at best lacklustre and at worst minimal or not addressed outside of vapid statements, the months it’s taken for changes to kaleidoscope has resulted in a map that is just about okay, which is bad considering the timeframe they’ve had for this and the final cherry on top of this cake, specialists have still not changed at all in there implementation and I doubt dice even planned to do anything outside of press statements to quell the crowd. If dice STILL doesn’t learn by the next title, i can say unfortunately without any degree of hyperbole, battlefield as a franchise will have been killed and dice will see the same fate as visceral. It’s life and death for dice now, make a choice

why is the game not free for people with EA play? don't understand why they wouldn't want to at the very least get the player base higher from offering it to those who have Game Pass Ultimate ... accept defeat & let us try to keep your game relevant by hopping in without the entry fee
If DICE can't reorganize itself and starting adding content in THE SAME tempo as with previous, paid model - there is no hope for succesfull transition in to free gameplay content with paid cosmetics. And most importnant - making games that can hold players even with bugs or balancing issues by being good experience withproper amount of starting content...

Honestly, why are people surprised, we knew dice was only gonna add 4 new maps total for year 1, months before the game came out data miners found 4 new maps in the game files, the first one of which had a name and thus we knew it was in Canada, Some RUclipsrs fanned the flames by speculating the 4 maps would be for the first season. Which we now know is not the case, so why are people surprised the second season only has one new map? We know every season will have only one new map, the ray of hope are the remakes of base maps, which for season 2 will be 2 maps remade. Dice has OBVIOUSLY moved on to the next game by now, you think it takes 714 people to remake maps? They brought the guy who created warzone to the mix to make sure the next game is better. Despite all this I still think 2042 is a decent game, it will no doubt go down as one of the worst bf games ever but personally I’m still a fan.

It is clear that turning away from the "Premium" model was a mistake. Even though the previous game had it's problems they were never as big as they are now and with Battlefied V, a game that I enjoyed. I don't wanna be the one to say it, but if a few extra bucks splits the fan base, so be it, as long the game keep being update and working as promised.
I dont care for 2042. It is The Last Jedi for the BF series so just give me what you owe me in terms of content and _ALL HANDS_ on BF -23. The sooner we can forget 2042 the better.

Just waiting for mw2 and that's what I will be playing, one new map in AOW is not enough, reworking launch maps doesn't count, that's their fault not ours, those launch maps should have been locked down before launch. What about Portal, why is it not getting more new maps added, have they not planned ahead to support this alongside aow, we need hype so bring metro and Damavand Peak, bring other maps guns, vehicles and modes from past titles. No new maps for Portal during all of season one so clearly nothing coming anytime soon, very sad. They need to bring some great usable content to aow and Portal like now and build hype before mw2, make me want to stay with 2042 and portal give me a reason, clock is ticking mw2 coming.

I’ve excepted that 2042 is just a broken cash grab. Hopefully they bring back the destruction that 3 and 4 was know for or go the bad company route and keep it small but provide lots of cover with future maps

Thing is with premium as a producer EA/Dice has tighter legal obligation so they can't mess up the game as much as they can with the battlepass content bullshit Because with that bullshit every trash they so "produced" is considered content a new color for hair one your character content new bullshit charms on your weapon content new trash skin content ; U get it . It's a way to maximize profit for them but that shit doesn't work quite well with BF because if u have a shit game with shit gameplay and shit map why would u spend extra cash on cosmetic bullshit . So if the base game isn't solid and fun u can't sell trash content .🥳😷
