I've found a lot of respect for my age here in Hua Hin Thailand . Living on social security only. My rent, $220, my electric less than $60. Big shopping malls about 2 miles away. I've never been happier and peaceful.
How long have you been in Hua Hin? I'm coming that way in December to check out the area as a possible retirement destination. Any advice on where to stay along that long stretch of beach to watch New Years Eve fireworks?

I'm so glad this came up in my feed! My mom is nearly 77 and going through a terribly stressful time. I don't know that she would move overseas permanently, but I at least want her later years to be stress free and enjoyable. This gives another good perspective and I've shared it with her. You can start over at any age!
Thank you for this video! And, thanks for what you did to encourage your mom. How great! At 72 I am comfortably retired with a nice pension (46 year career in education), no debt, a nice house that is paid off. Yet, I crave the life that you describe. I am thinking of moving to a warmer climate where I can run, bike, be outdoors everyday. Yet I find myself frozen. Stories like this are really helpful and provide encouragement and motivation. Thanks!.
Hi Lauren, Mom is putting together a video as we speak on starting over and how she was able to start over here...with her thoughts on purpose, etc. I wish you a happy peaceful life on whatever you decide to do. You are very smart with your money and commitment to your career (wow 46 years), that can extend to taking care of your happiness this time in your life too.
The magic of traveling light. I also took early retirement and moved to Bali at 47, along with my 2 dogs 3 years ago. I'm Indonesian but still needs to make adjustment living in Bali. Respect is the key. Let go and let see what life brings you 😊
I am 77 years old. I just lost my wife of 47 years to cancer. Being financially secure I’m looking for somewhere where I can go to live in peace and get away from this political nonsense and high cost-of-living that doesn’t make sense to me anymore. I haven’t done this sooner because of my grandchildren that are here with me, but I need to live the rest of my life for me. I love your story and it takes a lot to do what you did. You’re definitely an inspiration. What part of Bali are you in. I like you, am looking for safety and also good hospitals although I don’t go to them. I want one there when I need it. Keep it up. I just subscribed. The one comment that impacted me the most was that Linda is "starting" a new life. Sometimes I feel (as I approach retirement) that my life is ending but....Linda's perspective is much better. I want to visit Bali now!!!!!
We start over all of the time. We start over when we "graduate" from middle/junior high; high school; college; apartment after apartment; house after house; job after job; career after career; one pregnancy; another pregnancy; the list goes on and on when we start over. Do NOT be afraid to start over. It's part of life and when we die, we start over -- whatever that might look like ... 😍

Linda..??..As an 80 year young lady, you are in good shape mentally and physically and have made the best move of your life avoiding the disaster that is about to hit your home country this year...Well done...!!

I think you did the right thing . Our friend at 82 lives there , also near his daughter . I like your chats , but would suggest just rambling on without having the typed breaks . If your daughter is filming and wants to remind you what to talk about , she can join in and prompt you . We loved the one prompt which is what made me think of it .

My 1st time here and I must say, Congratulations 🎊 👏 for your strength, courage & for living your dream life ❤️. Honestly, you're living my dream life too. I can't wait to follow your journey. I'm so intrigued. Making soap & swinging from trees. 2 things I thought of for you, if you ever need a side hustle. You said you were a teacher, there are opportunities to teach English, online from the comfort of your home. I also thought you might enjoy teaching art or cooking to the local women. Whatever you do, I know it will be an adventure
Just watched a couple of your videos and one with your Mom telling her story which my son sent me. I appreciated how open and candid both you gals are. I’m just starting to look at the idea off a life style change and the option of permanently living in Bali. Thank you for your videos 😄🌈🙏👏
You are welcome and all it takes is making up your mind to start purging -- one pile to keep and the other to donate or sell. That's the very, very, very first step!
Before retiring and while living in South Korea, I would go to Bali every year for a month for about 10 years. I originally planned to retire there. but I found the retirement restrictions too much,. At that time retired foreigners were required to have at least one Balinese employee. Has that requirement been lifted? Also, I found over my 10 years of visits an increasing amount of poverty. So I'm now comfortably retired in Mexico. All that aside, I'm very glad that you are happily retired there.
Wow! I'm 79 and really impressed you were so brave. That's an enormous change. I have thought of doing something similar but worry about being so far from my brother and health-care.
Health care is a big obstacle, especially if you have a "condition." Fortunately at this moment I don't. But being away from your brother or me from my son and grandchildren is a challenge, for sure. 🥰
Do your homework. Create a budget. And whatever country you choose try inserting the word “ex pat” into facebook search engine. Then you’ll have a better idea of the country. For example Bali has dozens of facebook groups
I love this so much, especially the gigglefest! So happy to see more people thinking outside the box for retirement to find better living outside the US. That’s definitely my plan, not due to finances, but due to quality of life and better health. Wishing you well! ☀️ 🏖️
Great decision! I have been to Bali (was my first trip solo) and loved it! The people are the kindest and most hard working I have ever met! Thanks for the inspiration and yes you eating better food and in a beautiful place will help you live longer and healthier! 👏👏

I feel inspired and reassured that such a move is possible! I live in L.A. which is expensive and crowded… I have a European passport… I just need courage! Your video helped a lot ❤️
This is brilliant, thank you! I'm 65 years of age and looking to do the same thing with my wife Julie. We are planning to use tourist visas to move around South East Asian. Time in Bali, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia etc (3 months at a time). Stories like your are inspirational. Thank you! 🙏
Amazing! Congrats to you and Julie ;)
You and Julie won't regret it
Please keep sharing your wisdom. We need it.
You guys are lucky to have each other Linda & Debbie

A very inspiring video...I am so happy for this woman as she feels safe, satisfied and sappy (aka happy)…wishing her many years of feeling content in her life.
Lucky to have your daughter so close to you. I am in Canada and will be leaving this country in 6 years when I’m 65 for affordable living.
Your amazing. Woo Hoo
Thanks I appreciate your Woo Hoo!🥰
Yessssssssss live your best life🎉🌎 I’m so proud of you
Excellent story like you I am a very fit very active guy in the uk who can’t wait to get out somewhere warmer and less expensive…. Good luck and stay positive. 🎉
Thank you Mike ;) Best of luck to you too!
An excellent overview, thank you for your honesty and warmth
Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
You have inspired me so much!! Just retired from nursing career and it’s time for a big change ❤
Congrats to you! What an achievement! Yes, change is a good thing. Wishing you all the best in your new life ;)
Loved to hear your experiences living in Bali. Also how honest you are when you talk about your money situation. Wishing you well.
Couldn't be more honest. She was in debt. Nothing in the bank. Now she has a savings account because she is living below her means.
Great suggestion. Thanks for the feedback :)
Thank you for sharing your story.
Linda, Congratulations, on your outlook. So many do nothing but wish for a change to their life but are afraid to take the first step. it Doesnt mateer how old you are..There is a motto: Just go where your treated best. Best wishes for your chosen future.🤗🤗🤗
Exactly! Thank you! Best wishes to you too!
Awesome story! Thanks for sharing.
Amazing to hear all this Linda. I love the part where she was giggling. Laughter is also good for the soul. Id love a tour of Linda's house too. Just wonderful you are there together.
absolutely fabulous! please keep sharing!🌸
Ms. Linda you are wonderful. I love the idea that at 79 you are starting a new journey,.
Love your story Mary!!! And love that you are happy, stress free, debt free and with your daughter. And living the life!!!
I thinking Bali now ❤️
Come for a visit and see for yourself 🎶❤️
@ awe, thank you. I’m thinking about it for sure❣️
Thanks for posting I appreciate the honesty and info I am 76 have been thinking about Bali
Well done beautiful. You made the right choice. Keep going. PEACE and LOVE x
Your inspiration continues. I'm ready to leave USA and seek a better a life. Your videos are inspiring!
Very inspiring, especially the message at the end of the video.
Am Indonesian and wish you a peaceful life in Bali, the island of the gods.
This is a wonderful video. I am so happy that they have each other.
I admire your strength and positivity god bless your Bali Adventure
You are a fierce woman ✊🏽live life to the fullest 💕💕
Thank you 🌷 you look great! Be happy ✨️
You're so brave Linda and happy for you to be out of that stressful situation ❤
So glad to hear your story I’m so thinking about moving out of this country at 72 years old
Do your homework. Create a budget. And whatever country you choose try inserting the word “ex pat” into facebook search engine. Then you’ll have a better idea of the country. For example Bali has dozens of facebook groups
Me as well.
All it takes is making up your mind to do the first thing -- start making piles of keep or donate...😇
Sending you loads and loads of prayers and love ❤️. Stay safe and blessed
Thank you!
I am so happy for you! Keep living the good life
That’s great news. It makes it all the better that your daughter is there. Stay happy and healthy and enjoy your life.
Welcome to Indonesia. Happy things working out for you
Love to hear you are living your best life. 💖
I’m so very much inspired by your experience and your sense of adventure!! I hope you will keep posting so I can tag along on your journey. ❤
Such an inspiring interview! Your Mama has been so brave and I’m very happy for you both. I live in Timor Leste, which has less infrastructure than Bali, but totally relate to her comments about adapting and learning the new skill of living in a different environment and culture. All the best to you both ❤❤
Good for you!!! Enjoy your health and happiness.
It’s good you had family there x makes a difference x
Great 👍 Please do more interviews! The algorithm will reward you, as this is content potential expats love to watch! 🙏❤️
what type of videos would you like to see? Can you give me some "hints?"
It is the most beautifull video I have seen. I just love your mother for been strong to make that change in her life at her age.❤
Thank you for saying. You are so kind. :)
