A super cool and unique 8 string tenor ukulele where each string is doubled: G-G-C-C-E-E-A-A. Plus plug it in to your favorite amp with the build in pickup, tuner, and EQ. Think of the huge sound of the 12 string guitar but in an 8 string ukulele. Perfect for strumming and standing out.

I love having an 8-string ukulele. It’s really fun to play. One thing that has been REALLY frustration for me however is the darn High-C string (string position #6). If you go online you will see that it is the most susceptible to breaking of all the other ukulele strings due to the fact that is the thinnest string. I had several break on me. What is most frustrating is that when it breaks, I couldn’t just order a High-C string anywhere so I had to order a whole new set of 8 strings for my ukulele. For Worth Brown Fluorocarbon set that would cost me over $20 with shipping (true, they are long enough that I can make 2 sets of strings) and then I would have lots of excess of all the other strings. What a waste! I solved the problem (for me) today. Knowing that the strings I was using are basically just fluorocarbon strings, I went down to Walmart and found the EXACT same size fluorocarbon fishing line (0.0185”/0.47mm) in a 250-yard roll for $2.42. This one $2.42 roll now will provide over 250 spare High-C strings for me (virtually free!). I enjoy trying different brand strings and buying them in sets but now I will no longer have to buy an entire set just because my High-C string breaks! You can do this with most if not all of the other strings if you want but as I said it’s fun to try different sets of “ukulele” strings. This is especially helpful for those of you who, like me, enjoy using fluorocarbon strings. I actually DID restring one of my traditional ukuleles with all fishing line string and it sounds great.
I have one of these and it has become my main gigging instrument. Provides a really solid rhythm for the group.

The reason why 8 string ukulele is good is because you don't have to worry about High G and Low G as it has both of them
doesnt a 5 string do too?
@@emdicadrian a 5 string just has a high and low G string, not both a high and low C string. Also it has the E & A strings doubled.

8 string ukes are the greatest. I had a solid acasia Kala 8. Sold it and have regretted it ever since.
I follow so many of your videos. You have been such a great help. This is the one I want but can't get my hands on one to try. I heard many people say the chords are harder to press down. Right now I have a concert soprano Kala and have thoroughly enjoyed it.. What is your opinion thinking back to only playing for a year. Thank you Cely

I wonder if the gloss neck can be problematic while playing.
This model has been around for ages---I had one about 6 years ago. But they appear to have upgraded the pickup system. The old one was by Shadow and just had a couple of simple slider controls. The nut width at 1.5" or 38mm is actually 3mm wider then the standard 4 string Kala KA-TG on which this is based. In my opinion all tenor ukes---either 4 or 8 string should have a nut width of at least 38mm-----unfortunately, apart from one or two notable exceptions, only the more expensive ones do.
What is the Aquila number for the strings? It says Super nylgut but no number

Sounds like a low g and the courses are in octaves I am guessing. It sounds so different than the typical uke. I am not sure I like low g for strumming, although it opens up melodic possibilities.
I'm guessing the song that you played for a bit was called my way by Frank Sinatra.

But, why should it be considered mainly for strumming ; the ronroco has 5 sets of 2 and is mainly used for picking, listen to the beautiful composition : THE LAST OF US .

Sounds unusual, and, of course, reminiscent of a 12-string and a mandolin. To my ear, it slightly misses the clarity of the attack, and so far I fail to see the point of making such an instrument. I mean - it must sound pretty blurred in the mix. On its own, though, it sounds pure magic.

It doesn't sound good on blues brother but Hawaiian and cook island music is good and medieval charango ronroco music is good.
