I love getting some of these facsimiles graded. Hulk 1 & 181, X-Men 1, Detective Comics 181 all 9.8's. Fun and have surprising value.

I know I am two years too late, but this is my second option to a the real AF #15. One day. But I am happy to have an AF #15 No Barcode. Going to send it to CBCS and I hope that they will continue to honor the grade with "incomplete." I'll take it.

I knew it, I was going to order 20 AF 15 but I got pre-buyers remorse and ended up ordering 5 copies, all are currently at CGC. Knowing that the payoff would have been alright I wish I did order those 20 so that it can get me closer to my Hulk 181 in the 9.0. Awesome content as always.

I preordered 12 of these from my LCS and they let me go through the stack and pick out the copies I wanted. I'm pretty sure most will grade 9.8 and all are the non-barcode issues... I guess I'll get a few graded at some point. I did get one of the Hulk 181s graded and it came back a 9.8, and I sold it on eBay for about $150. Nothing too great , but it did help to cover the cost of all those $3.99 comics!

If it's not the first reprint that's over 30 years old, why bother with a modern facsimile?

    • @Tr1ckypants
      @Tr1ckypants 2 года назад

Because the old reprint doesn't capture the look of the original AF#15 as well as the modern reprint does.
The modern reprint (no barcode) looks exactly like the original except for the price tag.
The old reprint has the 70s marvel banner, different color scheme, window box plus an ad for a Dr. Strange story.

Still isn't worth it unless you only want the appearance of an older book , I'd rather hunt down the oldest first reprint if possible , but the facsimile issue is heating up

I’m seeing the AM15 facsimile without the bar code coming back from CGC with some as graded and then others NG and coverless due to no barcode. What gives? All have the $3.99 price on it, so it’s not like it’s a copy of the actual original. I’d like to encapsulate mine but not if it’s going to get kicked back as a NG due to no bar code.

Apparently they are the sketch cover variants with the sketch cover ripped off. Cgc is only now aware of it.
So the people who bought them were swindled.

Isn’t the no barcode just the exclusive blank version with cover removed? If it isn’t, how do you tell them apart?

Thats a Good Question … I think cgc did Not noticed it

Love your content bro but I’m kind of a purist. I hope to one day own an original AF 15, it’s a goal in life. That book is a treasure. I hope I obtain one some day. Meanwhile I have a great collection of rare, many signed books. But I hate reproductions and I also hate variants, those both turn me off to the hobby and they are becoming rampant in collectible comics(I’ve been saved a few times because I have a friend that runs a comic book store) I just think once a run is produced, the only appropriate thing to do is a tribute cover(original) on a new book. That’s just how I feel.

Totally agree. I do not like reprints and variants water down the market.

Do you like custom labels? I bought a NYX #3 in the older label and plan to send it in. Would it look cool with a Wolverine label?

I paid less for my CGC signature series True Believers AF-15 signed by Tom Holland compared to those bar code and non-bar code AF-15 facsimile prices. Fortunately, I got my stabbed AF-15 in 2009. I wouldn't be able to afford one now.

I have facsímiles of AF 15 and Action 1 but would never get them graded or buy graded copies that are slabbed. They are just reprints..not worth it imo
