Gem's "swingset self-reflection" was too real for me lol
That Intro....I felt it deep down bro.....
and maybe laughed when I shouldn’t have 🤣
Lol
Hey Bam u should do this to
He even did the sad Naruto on swing xD.
"I made profit but coudve made more"
Thats my whole flipping career slogan lol
Truth
I feel your pain my friend. When I was first going to conventions back in the early 80’s I bought some original artwork from an unknown artist at the time. Mike Mignola the creator of hell boy was sitting in a corner drawing random characters so I bought two pieces. One was colored pencil of a Medusa the other felt pen of an astronaut. I payed 20 bucks for the pair. Flash forward several years and I’m in need of rent so I sold them to a comic book shop for a hundred bucks. I still wake up screaming!
I think all collectors have lost money indulging their hobby, It's the nature of the beast. It's better to collect purely for enjoyment as you care less about value fluctuation. I would always advocate taking ones time when buying statues, don't get caught up in the hype or worry about missing out on a piece, things can always be picked up at a later date. The main advice I would offer to new collectors is don't get into debt, stick within your means, even if you really want an item, nothing is worth the stress of breaking the bank!
I definitely agree
That intro definitely gave me Eric Cartman vibes 😂
Love this, I mean sorry about the losses, but love that you show your guard down, how there can be lows to the highs. That for success there is also loss and sacrifice. It's a good reality check, and thank you for lowering the curtain to let us see some of your own losses in the success you created. Keep the hustle going bud.
My biggest loss in collecting was about 15 years ago, when I was 91 years old, (I am currently 106 years old) was when I sold the first appearance of Thanos. I sold a lot of other books that I shouldn’t of, but that was the biggest.
I want to be you when I turn 106!
I'm glad that you did a video on the dark side of the collectables industry.
I'm year 2 into collecting and I already have a few regrets that I've made. These type of videos really help newcomers who just got started.
Takes a real man to make this kind of content. #Respect
Loved this video! I really appreciate you sharing. We can all learn and relate from your experience. 🙏✌️
Awesome Video Gem!!! Love the swinging reflection at the beginning!
Definitely appreciate the honesty of this vid - very relatable. Keep hustling!
Great video G. I love the honesty. Your killing it!!
You’re literally the reason I got into omnibus
Don’t know if that’s good or bad lol
This actually is a very important subject, especially for me as a newcomer into the collectibles world. Great content as always Gem
Keep up the REAL talk about collecting, great content! The statues are my favorite! Haven’t gotten one yet but I look around my house for where I could put a couple for when I do!
Liked the honesty and subbed! There's all kinds of loses in collecting and life. The big win will come later!
Thanks I always enjoy your how I got to this point stories. Staying Minty Gem fresh.
Hey Gem, really appreciate the honesty. Keeps the hobby down to earth. Enjoyed the video.
Nice vid, Gem! Words of wisdom and droppin' jewels...and not afraid of being transparent! Love it.
Thanks for sharing with us your experience! I appreciate it.
Glad to be apart of the Geminites after being a long time viewer and starting to collect. Awesome community and awesome content! Wish you nothing but success brother
I just love these introspective videos! Great job Gem Mint, as always
I love how humble this video is, great stuff Gem!
Love the honesty. I feel you and appreciate you being real with the community. We all take L and Ws, but we live to collect another day.
Hey gem, I really enjoyed seeing your creativity at the start of the episode! Keep it up my man
That intro was amazing! I am glad you did this overview of your journey, and pointing out that not all were highs; there were lows as well. Great video, Gem!
This video is excellent ! That's really good advices that you give here !
I have been loving this type of content from you, keep up the great work
Great video Gem. Glad you're honest about your ups and downs.
I am always enjoying your videos Gem, keep it up!
Started watching your vids to seek out info on grading and understanding it. It helps a lot, and that spidey statue is a beauty. Started getting into that too lol
It's good advice you are giving us Gem. I too have been there where I made a deal to sell or trade something most times thinking I was getting the better of the deal only to have what I'd sold or traded go up in value vastly or the item I traded for totally tanking,it's the nature of collecting and it sucks but you have to roll with it and like you said hope your wins far outweigh your losses, matter of fact now before I sell or trade something I give myself a grace period to stop and think before I finalize the deal and ask myself if I'm ready for the particular item leave or enter the collection. Thanks again for your invaluable advice and wisdom.
love the video man! Don't feel to bad about the losses because they could be a lot worse.
That was a excellent video. People need to know the struggles and successes which formed you and made you who you are today. Although as a collector you know you're going to lose some and win some but if someone is just getting into collection this was very helpful.
Very insightful! Thank you for sharing!
Love the honesty in this video. Keeping it real.
Who knew Gem was so creative! Love these new videos. Keep up the great work bro.
You got me into omnis and now statues. Love the channel.🤘🏻
I love that you have the ratio of skit-content down! Nothing ever over stays it’s welcome and it just works. I can’t wait to see how awesome your future shakes out!! Cheers from ATX!
Learning the hustle!!! Great vid!
Loved this video! Learned a lot. Just bought my first omnibus of the new teen titans vol 1 & 2.
You sitting on a swing tells me that it's going to be a fun video! Thanks Gem!
Great video bro, I felt a lot of what you said...you called it on trying to fill that omni backlog 😂🤣😂
Loving the content, thanks!
This was a great video. Really makes me feel better about parting with some books that have been sub-100 dollars in value.
I really love how you talk about all aspects of collecting
Great episode. Your content is always fresh.
Awesome video as always Gem!!
Thanks for the advice....awesome journey...
Another great video! Thanks for sharing!
Great video. I enjoyed this format.
Thanks for the video. It's nice to know I'm not alone when it comes to collection losses. I've sold a few videogames and action figures I wish I would have held on to a little longer.
Variety is the spice of life man, enjoying all the different videos lately Gem. You shouldn't worry about those losses you mentioned, the constant take away I got was that neither you or I or anyone else can see the future. (Like you're suppose to know when new comic book movie franchises or characters are coming.)
Hi Gem, good to see you putting out a video like this. People are rarely honest about making losses on things, or they only mention the positive things. I don’t collect statues or CGC keys, but I do buy omnibus where I have overpaid on a couple. My advice for this would be, to hold off because reprints seem to be happening a lot more recently.
This was a great video. Thanks for sharing.
Great opening scene of you kicking rocks. Cool video concept.
Very interesting, you showed some fascinating pieces
And I thought I was the only one.
Great video.Keep the videos variety going.
You are awesome Gem Mint and I love that time you reviewed the Phase 1, 2, and Infinity Saga Box Set.
Thank you for sharing your experiences.
Gem hitting us right in the "feels" right off the bat with this video!
The reviews are fun but these types of videos probably my favorite from you, boss. Just now getting into collecting and it's cool to hear some ups and downs from that world 👍
Good of you. A lot of time we only see the Wins -- just like fishing shows -- you only see the big catches. Keep up the hustle Gem, you've earned the spotlight you have.
This might be my fav of all your videos and I’ve liked a LOT of them.
🙌
music+ the transition from the bench to the swing is A1. Haven't cried like this since John Coffee was on the green mile.
Good vid bro, I've taken to many losses it almost had me give up totally on collecting. But got back in and sold some cheap finds for decent profit.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Out of print omnibuses is definitely where I took some losses but I've also lucked out with some too. Great video Gem
Love this. We never really get to hear about the losses, just the wins. My worst loss still haunts me, selling an Ultimate Fallout 4, 9.8 waaaaay too early. I bought it for $360 and sold it for $1200 which was the going rate at the time. Now its a $3k book. Not totally a lose but hindsight is 20/20 i guess
That book is going crazy
Great content. Thank you!
damn that intro was so sad...but I'm glad you were able to talk it! Awesome video Gem
😆 think this was one of your best skits!
The comic market is insane right now. Seeing some of the slabs you had even hurts me, haha.
Thanks for keeping it real Gem Mint!
14 min video without taking a breath or autocue... well that’s fantastic, talking must be your gift, and the video was entertaining too, and the start outside was hilarious 😂, crazy video Gem, crazy!!
loving these videos
Great video gem!!!
another great video! keep it up man!
That Intro... It hhit me bro lol
Great video Gem, You win some, you lose some.
Super interesting stuff to see how you got here!
Love it man!!!! Thanks key words stick out. HUSTLE.
Its good to hear this side of your story!
Good insight. Like the honesty.
lovin all these vids!
Thanks for sharing. Your success is admirable.
Road to 125k! Great video as always.
Good advice from the master of Hustle. Loved this video.
Nice vid! Truth in collecting, you win some you lose some.
Oh man. Your making good use of that extra time that you have now. Love the vids keep 'em coming
Thanks 👍
@@GemMintCollectibles I got a FF by hickman vol 2 with a cut in the dust jacket. I'm going to try to sell it on ebay before the reprint is announced.
Man, I feel your pain! I’ve had some unfortunate losses in my collecting days too!
Gem, love to see a video about how you set up your collection display (lights, etc.). Thanks for what you do; you make collecting fun on my end, too!
Great video Gem👏 😎 I really enjoy these introspective collector insights. And I feel your pain, I've cancelled about thirty 1/6 scale pieces from Sideshow, most were DOPOs that I later lost interest in, due to the long wait until they actually came in stock. I'm not 100% certain, but it seems like almost every time I cancel a preorder, I get a discount code a few days later and buy something else 🤔 maybe it's just a coincidence 💁♂️😁👍
The pain here is so real. Haha. But for real, it's dope that you're sharing this to the community. It reminds people that mistakes happen.
We all feel this pain from time to time bro! Nice video!
Great video! I been collecting for the last 5 years and boy have I taken losses. But Gem your absolutely right the hobby has to be funded or collectors will go bankrupt. My first lost was the PCS Street fighter Vega, its an extremely fragile statue, luckily I found a buyer that wanted it so I sold it for 50% lower than the retail price I paid for it. Keep Rocking Gem!
Hi Gem, I got really emotional watching your video about you going Full Time on RUclips.
Emotional in the sense I was really happy for you man. Ive been following you since the beginning.
The comic fam from Tom, Bueller, You, Regie etc, you are all like the best friends I never had.
Your content touches so many in such a deep wonderful way. I smile when I get a Gem Mint notification. Genuinely.
Well done on this decision and good luck on your new path
SCG 👍🏻
Keep dropping Gems. These are great!
Intro was too funny and hit home as well 🤣
