You COULD actually lose weight on a Big Mac diet! As long as you skip the FRENCH FRIES with KETHCUP and/or SODA and/or MILKSHAKE. And keep it to like 3 Big Macs a day...
You might not be very HEALTHY, but just based on calories it could actually be VIABLE ;)

GEM, I pretty much followed your Dad's advice for exercise but when I started out I took things ridiculously easy, like no weights on the machine for the first two days. This was to get my muscles used to the movement. Not doing that is the cause of a lot of aches and pains and some people quit working out because of that Then, I stated adding weight as per your Dad's method.
My first day at the gym, when I was shown how to use the machines, even though I'd been walking and riding my bike I did terrible that first day on the treadmill, stationary bike, and stair climber, only doing a minute on each. Also barely able to do 3 ab crunches. Three months later I was doing 45 minutes on each machine and doing 500 ab crunches and I did it without getting any aches or pains.
So for anyone starting to work on losing weight this year my advice is take it really easy that first week, then build a little every workout. Doing that I was in the best shape of my life at 45.
Read my other post on this video to see how I ruined all that work.

Good to see that you're fully committed to a healthy lifestyle. With my physiology, I have it easier than most when it comes to maintaining a healthy body, but 16 years ago, I made a commitment to focus on staying healthy, and it's really paid off now that I'm in my 50s. Cutting out alcohol and sugary drinks and drinking primarily water is the best first step to losing weight and developing a healthy lifestyle. For most people, they'll have a noticeable weight loss within a few weeks by just completely avoiding those types of drinks. That acts a good motivator to continue changing food habits. And that's what it comes down to, not dieting, but permanently changing habits and behaviors so that maintaining a healthy lifestyle becomes normal. I also do non-diary for probably. One thing I would caution for non-diary drinks, particularly almond milk, is the high amount of sodium in many of those brands. I eventually switched to unsweetened macadamia milk which is much lower in sodium, although may be a little higher in calories. Carbs is another thing to watch closely, as a lot of "healthy foods" are high in carbs. It's really easy to start cutting out fats and calories only to replace them with carbs.

Really happy for you dude. It is not easy to change our lifestyles. But you will have more time with your family and a better time with them. Keep up the good work.
