A custom Iceman Statue sculpted by Franco Carlesimo...should be epic right? WRONG! Man, I was so hyped for this piece, but the amount of damages, changes in art direction, and pieces not fitting...slowly broke me down. I went into this unboxing really excited, but by the end, I couldn't hide my disappointment anymore.
Since this video dropped, I have been kicked out of the custom group and the factory's (HCT) group. I have since sold the piece for $2500...it cost me $600 to ship. So overall, I took about an $800 loss on this piece. But hey, you win some, you lose some. I'm still way up in the positive when it comes to buying and selling. This video has gained a ton of new subscribers and gained respect from viewers. I will also keep my reviews 100% honest, regardless of the consequences.

Beautiful, but bad design. The frozen Sentinel's hand should not be clear. You should still see the metal under the ice.

Star Brand Actually, to be consistent with the science of Ice Mans ice “power,” the sentinel’s hand becoming transparent upon being frozen by Ice Man is no different than Bobby Drake himself turning transparent when he activated his “power.” So you’re telling me that the sculpture of Ice Man should be a naked man and all of his body being visible, just as you say the sentinel’s hand should be? Considering that, it is not just “lazy design” by the artist, because nothing is more annoying than inconsistency... Just saying...
@@mathewzuniga1760 Excellent point. I've never considered that before and it warrants further investigation. I understand that Iceman changes his own molecular structure, but was unsure if he achieved the same effect in targeted objects.
I don't think it was lazy design, but I do think it was a bad design choice. But I do agree with Star Brand.. I'd rather have a "more" metal hand than an ice Sentinel hand. Then again, I could be wrong, and it was lazy. Gem does bring up a good point that it would have been more work to have two bases instead of one base.
Yea what they should have done is have the Sentinel hand under the clear coat so you could see thru to the Sentinel hand inside.
Bro that sucks with the damages, BUT this statue is probably the most ambitious one I’ve ever seen. It’s insane. Trust me no one could tell about the damages unless they look real hard. It is sick beyond sick.

I think some of the ice shards being broken adds more realism because they not all going to be perfect

At first glance, the statue is really impressive, but a more detailed examination reveals too many shortcomings and this is very disappointing. Price and quality in this case are not equal. Thanks for the interesting review !!!

Honestly i dont like it at all, the whole transparency thing is awful, id prefer a blueish half transparent look way more, also ALLthese broken pieces and the missing/awful connection points are a no go, if u pay almost the same price for shipping as for the piece itself i expect that it is delivered in mint condition without broken pieces and especially with connection spots that actually fit ( Arms are awful)

@@bendover2684 in germany it is..if i pay that much shipping here the package has insurance and if the goods are delivered broken the company that delivered the goods have to cover the cost...thats what these high shipping fees are for otherwise i could shove the whole thing loose into a box...and take the cheapest crap transporter

@@Ultras14100 hat mehrere gründe er ist kein fan von dem weiss transparenten look , wie man gesehen hat waren sehr viele teile abgebrochen und ausserdem sind einige teile locker bzw passen nicht 100% zusammen wie zb die arme da sind lücken an den ansätzen.ausserdem war bei den conzept zeichnungen die hand von dem sentinel die in der eisbasis ist noch in metall farben und hier ist sie durchsichtig was wenig sinn macht wenn iceman was einfriert wird es ja nicht automatisch zu eis sondern friert nur ein.. das sind so die grössten problem punkte

I think the main problem is the overall design is just way too ambitious.
“A very fragile piece”...with no FRAGILE stickers on the shipping box.
Slapping a fragile sticker doesn't help and wouldn't have prevented anything. It's bound to break no matter what unless it was hand delivered.
The breaking doesn't happen during shipping. It happened while putting it inside the box at factory.

@@hmoobgvp yeah, of course. But why does it happen during shipping? Cuz of the shitty packaging. They use foam, inside a cardboard box. The box itself will warp as as you lift it or move it, thus making the foam move and warp as well, thus moving the pieces out of place, thus breaking them. This thing should had been shipped in the same foam, but then add a thick layer of padding around the walls so the foam doesn't move, and then ship it in a fucking wooden box.
@@squalltheonly it can happen because carriers are using pallet jacks which aren't exactly a delicate tools, people lifting and pushing it not so delicately, offloaded and reloaded onto several vehicles, on a truck with a hard ass suspension bouncing around the back. I mean come on dude, foaming can only do so much. The design of the piece and how it was broken down for shipping has more to do with it than improper foaming
Minor damages, caulking and shoulders aside, this is one beautiful ambitious piece of work brother. Franco is one talented guy. 🤜🏻🤛🏾

damn gem really upset about this piece, rightfully so. When you are paying so much for a piece/shipping it should come in perfect condition and as advertised.

I think the plastic being translucent instead of professionaly painted makes it look cheap, like it was made from those plastic crystals from Hobby Lobby.

As someone that stumbled across this video, has no interest in models, and this is the first video like this I've seen even I can say that this model is pretty craptacular. The joints and seems all look bad, the metal bar through the ice ramp seems WAY over engineered and heavy duty for a non-playable figure, the unpainted hand _doesn't even make any sense_, the caulk band-aid fix looks like trash...over all this is hoorible for the money.
And that SHIPPING...good God what did they use overnight delivery? No way something like this should have been $900 to ship!!! That's like a 3rd the over all price!
900 is reasonable given the shipping distance, and size and weight of the piece. Shipping quality on the other hand is pretty unacceptable
Logical Reason the unpainted hand does make sense, because how does ice man being transparent make sense to you if the transparent hand doesn’t? It’s no different... should ice man be painted and his body be visible? The sculpt is just being consistent, obviously you’ve never read any comics or seen any of the cartoons and seen how ice mans power works and how objects and environments act upon him freezing things... just saying...
@@mathewzuniga1760 If you look at the sculpt again, you can see ice man's body is translucent, meaning not fully transparent but you can still see color and shape that is behind him, but his arms for some reason are a little more opaque. Not a huge concern but still noteworthy as inconsistency in this piece. The biggest problem is that the portion of sentinel hand that is covered in ice is pretty much 100% opaque. This makes no sense, and is not consistent with how ice man is sculpted. You should be able to see some sentinel hand color (blue based on the 3d renders) through that ice, but this is not the case. Even the ice crystals that are not frosted should be translucent like ice man, but are not. And sure ice man in comics is snow-white, and his ice powers in comics turn people snow-white. But I believe this piece is supposed to be more of a realistic sculpt, and therefore should have more in common with live action movie ice man, who is shown as being translucent/transparent. Ultimately it comes down to aesthetics, and the 3d renders look way better than the actual piece imo.

Man. If the sentinel hand palm wasn’t translucent, the piece would have been MUCH cooler looking. That and Icemans arms are a different shade, that’s rough. I agree with you, the ice being white with some baby blue highlights would have been sick. Sorry for the loss man, I know the feeling in the pit of your stomach when something you e looked forward to so much turns out to be a disappointment.

The one thing my eyes keep getting drawn to are Iceman's arms ... That different shade of transparency would REALLY bother me, and it looks like they were made at a totally different place with a totally different resin mix.

i actually stopped buying and collecting statues from 20 years,today i do restoration for collector and some customs..
The problem when collecting is finding enough storage for statue and boxes,the eternal problem with the dust and the broken parts when the statue were new out of the box or with some domestical accidents..
I can only be very respectuf with courageous collectors with these monsters scale statue,congratulations guys !
From were I’m sitting it’s a gorgeous piece. Choosing to see some of the issues as damage during battle is better than dwelling on the problems.

Man I found this video when it first blew up 2 years ago, and I rewatch it whenever it pops back up in my feed. As a former One Piece and Naruto statue collector, I can confidently say this is one of the most ambitious statues made in this hobby to date. The sheer level of detail is amazing, but the manufacturing ruins it. I'd honestly consider buying one if I had the room. The breakages suck, but nothing is worse than globs of glue and miscast parts.

The transparent palm is an absolute killer. The idea that frozen steel would become instantly transparent (while conveniently stopping at the base of the fingers) is just ridiculous, aside from being visually jarring.
I wasn't a big fan of this piece. The color is too bland . Looks like a huge mess. Even If there wasn't any breakage . Not enough color for me .

Yeah, it sort of like the Funko specialty series Iceman. That pop was just one bland color. They came out with a new one recently and it looks epic
