    • @nani4249
      @nani4249 Год назад +4

      Yeah but the same could be said with Carol in the comics so your point is a bit invalid, I dont like the comics because carol was a useless character who did nothing.
      The same could be said with shane, morgan and hershel who are all massive down grades from the tv show counterparts.
      Also daryl is better than andrea in the comic for me, so having andrea in the tv show just be like him causes daryl to be worse.

    • @AlecEburhard
      @AlecEburhard Год назад +25

      @@nani4249 the point of Carol’s character in the comics was showing how the mayhem and isolation of the apocalypse can drive someone crazy. And she ultimately took her own life because she couldn’t handle and evolve to the new world like everyone else. She was so isolated and lonely she suggested a polygamous marriage with Rick and Lori, only to get heartbroken and angry when Lori understandably didn’t want that. She character in the comics is meant to be a tragic figure instead of the terminator she was turned into in the show.

    • @nani4249
      @nani4249 Год назад +1

      @@AlecEburhard exactly carol and andrea in both comic and TV show were meant to tell an entire different story from each other, not saying either is bad but just as 1 his worse than the other doesn't necessarily make it worse, and as they are different and have different level of importance in each story doesn't make any sense to criticise the tv show purely because its different from the comic

    • @rumers100
      @rumers100 11 месяцев назад +3

      @@nani4249I like Daryl but many things that were done by Andrea, Abraham and Tyreese were given to him.
      On top of that Its so stupid how they made Caron a menace on the show. Like come on 1 woman be coming a terminator?
      The change to father Gabriel on the TV was more belivable than that of TV Carol.

    • @nani4249
      @nani4249 11 месяцев назад

      @rumers100 daryl just replaced those characters anyways so it doesn't matter.
      And you really can't say Abraham, tyreese and andrea in the comic are better than daryl.
      But carol even though she was a strong survivor didn't display any super human feats so I can't see your problem with her development, plus she's more like rambo than terminator anyways

    I think more The Walking Dead comic book reviews would be great.
    Also what would be really cool is if once Invincible ends if that studio was able to animate The Walking Dead comic.
    The only problem is if the live action series overstays it's welcome (which some may argue it already has.) People might become so tired of the series that even if the comic tells a better
    story and there was an animated series that was a 1 to 1 adaptation people may just not care at that point.
    Carl is my favorite character from the comics. He's ok in the tv show but an absolute bad ass in the comic.

    I do like some overall elements better in the show, typically that has to do with actor performances or character arcs. Standout examples of Morgan, Carol, Daryl, Hershal, Glenn, etc. Nothing against their comic counterparts, I just find certain characters to have been enhanced by talented actors and plot changes.
    Though, typically, all of my praise dies away by the sixth season. The comics give a better feeling of mental decline and desperation for the characters. The grime (no pun intended) feels more pervasive, the physical decay of the old world, the human struggle, it's all focused better in the comic series. And all of the lows lend better towards the small glimpses of humanity and peace that are achieved by the survivors.
    All in all, it's the same classic story that happens with all the cool shit we like: The walking dead is a great series by a talented author that deserves more attention and a better adaption.

    The Governor's arc is even more fucked up if you read the novels. Originally he was a big coward and a big fuck up, unlike his younger brother Philip. Philip did the same shit in the novels that the Governor did in the comics. Philip almost even killed him because he wasn't able to protect Penny and let her die.
    The Governor started to act like his brother because he convinced himself that the world needs you to act like Philip in order to survive. At the same time, The Governor fights his real persona hiding underneath the new one, often feeling sick to his stomach and crying while trying to maintain the Philip persona. Comic doesn't show that until the last issue where he really gets scared and let's the Brian (the Governor's real name) come out.

Their stories, epic moments, and character are just so much better and that’s because the show allows them to be better. I am a huge fan of both but i mostly prefer the show. Yeah, they extended certain storylines out WAY too long but with a few exceptions like Andrea and Carl, the characters in the show were so much better and fleshed out. This is because of the greatest person in The Walking Dead show: the casting director. Even when the storylines or drama or dialogue were a bit clunky, every last performance in the show was top notch. The cast really gave it their all. I understand why people prefer the novels, i understand why people prefer the show. They both have pros and cons, and both of them have far more pros than cons. And as a fan of both, i really love that for people that watched the show first or read the novels first, you can enjoy the other one and really be on the edge of your seat the whole time because of how many differences there are with only the broad strokes being the same. Also, the soundtrack in the TV show is phenomenal and really enhances the story. So now when i am reading the novels (Yeah, baby, Deluxe collection!) I hear the songs and soundtrack in my head.

    Read this as it was releasing almost every aspect is better then the show but that’s normally how it goes not enough budget or air time to really flesh out these Storys in a short run time

    I started reading the comic during the farm season of the show(you know, nothing happened there, so...), the comic was extremely great and far superior to the show ALWAYS, BUT, the comic overextended its existence the same way the show did, it should have ended with All Out War(the "final battle" arc with Negan, I don't remember if thats the correct name, anyone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong), but it kept going... After that it was all downhill for me, everything felt so "unimportant" compared to Negan's "saga", like DBZ after the Cell Saga, imagine if Berserk keeps going after the Godhand are all dead... Oh and by the way, I stopped watching the show as soon as I started reading the comic

    I 100% disagree about the sex. Most of it is gratuitous and Michonne is just treated like shit in the comic. Kirkman seems to have benefited from meeting actual women and minorities IRL during the show run because the comic becomes more believable after the prison arc. I hated all the random BJs and hookups. Where’s the actual time for that in the apocalypse?

      When carol asked for a three some was the most cringe statement I've ever heard a twd character say, and her kissing both rick and lori was a bit weird, and not the good weird but the who'd actually write this kinda weird. And to think rick almost killing tyrese came from carol attempted suicide was just terrible and sloppy writing, and they say the tv show had terrible drama
      Twd comic is to edgy just because it has rape in it doesn't mean its deep and I was more convinced maggie got raped by the governor than michoone due to there different behaviors after the assault happened.

    comics overall is better. many of its characters (like Tyreese, Andrea, Negan, Carl, Michonne, and Maggie) are better than their tv show counterparts. the zombies are more consistent. the story moves faster. there are less plotholes, and most deaths in the first half of the comic series are pretty cool and arent just for shock value. there are some stupid shit like the commonwealth and the whisperers. but its a comic book so its pretty excusable. like the show, the second half isnt nearly as good as the first.
    the show has better individual moments like the CDC, Hershel getting his leg chopped off, many scenes with The Governor, many Rick moments etc. and there are many characters in the show who is much cooler in the show than in the comics (Shane, Rick, Glenn, Carol, The Governor, Dwight, Hershel). some rewritten story lines are much better in the show like Terminus/The Hunters, Shane and Rick's conflict in the second half of season 2, the barn story line, etc. But the show is super inconsistent with its quality. season 1 was pretty solid. but the whole first half of season 2 was a complete poorly written, soap opera-y slog. season 3 was also pretty solid, despite some stupid and overly-comical scenes. season 4 would switch from being boring to being good again. first half of season 5 was good right up until Beth's death, and it picked right back up at the finale, which shouldve been the end of the show. season 6 was boring and the whole Glenn dumpster scene made me stop watching the show for an entire two months before picking it up again. the episode where everyone killed all the zombies in Alexandria is prob the only decent episodes, minus the scenes with Enid. and then the rest of the show is just another poorly written, plot-hole ridden, zombie soap operah. Negan is a terrible villain who isnt scary and just gets on my nerves. imo he doesnt rlly work as a villain at all and seems more like an anti hero. tho he needed to be dumbed down a bit and maybe even recasted. Steven Ogg wouldve prob made for a better Negan than JDM.
    SO the comics is overall pretty good, with one half consistently being awesome for a comic book and the second half being alright and a bit too long.
    the show's first half is pretty good. a bit of a mixed bag but its best moments are probably some of the best in all of TV. THE SECOND HALF is terrible. some of the worst writting and worst moments ive ever seen in TV and there isnt a single character i liked aside from maybe Morgan, Simon, Dwight, and sometimes Eugene (as the whole plan he made to help Rick defeat the saviors was pretty cool)

    AMC 100% is at fault for the downfall of the series, if it wasn't for Frank Darabont's departure, the show would be way more enthralling, but because AMC wanted to play the undisputed king, the show fell off

    Lol… a little late to the party on this huh? I enjoy the comics more overall but adaptations shouldn’t be scoffed at if you truly enjoy the world. Little or big tweaks here and there keep things fresh. As someone who was current with the comic the entire time the series was on air, I appreciated the differences. Knowing what to expect every second is boring
