    I love reprints, I'm not trying to flip comics for sale, I just love to collect and read them and reprints gives us that opportunity to do just that!

    Are you kidding those facts Emily's are absolutely terrific! I personally like them because they include the advertising as it originally appeared. For my part, Those ads were half the fun

    I read all my comics, collect for the love, for the stories, for the art and the reprints and facsimiles are just as good to me, because I’m not in it for the money, I’m in it to read and complete, although I got lucky and found that I have a good bunch of original gold. Thanks for the video.

    I love collecting 9.8 reprints , they look great on wall. There is a reprint of FF1 back in 67 I think that in 9.8 goes for like 10k which is one of my grails.

    The difference between a reprint and a facsimile is that the inside ads are the same from the original book in a facsimile as a pose to the reprints that have newer adverts.

    I have a few reprints, Action 1, a bunch of Marvel Tales, etc. Great way to read older stories if you like the hands-on feel of flipping through pages of a book. Great way to appreciate or display the cover art too!

      For sure. I especially love when they keep the old advertisements in there.

    Great topic. I can remember reading reprints 'back in the day,' which was a great way to expose new readers to origins, classic match-ups, and first appearances. I wish publishers would print more reprint anthology series...

    I do enjoy picking up reprints from time to time to read or display, but I am annoyed when I'm searching for an original comic on Ebay and a bunch of reprints flood my search.

    I wish publishers would reprint some entire series monthly, like they used to with Essential Sandman or Tales of GI Joe. It’s a fun way to read a story you missed (if you’re not into tpbs)

      They should be in the previews that your local comic store gets, so you can ask them to let you know if one is coming out and they can even put one aside for you.

    Just FYI, Marvel Tales didn't start off from day 1 reprinting Amazing Spider-Man in order. I think it started off as some other kind of anthology book and/or reprint book, and then at some point they started reprinting ASM stories from 5-7 years prior, and then in the early 1980's (not long before the issue you have in your video) they started printing them in order from the beginning for a while. And then I think at some point they started skipping around again, focusing on things like Punisher appearances et al.

      The sixties version of Marvel Tales started as Marvel Tales Annual #1, which reprinted the origins of several heroes, including Spider-Man in AF#15. Marvel Tales Annual #2 reprinted X-Men #1 and Avengers #1, along with Dr Strange's origin and part of Hulk #3.
      Marvel Tales' systematic reprints began in MT#3 starting with ASM#6.
      ASM #3 and 4 had previously been reprinted in Marvel Collectors Item Classics #1 & 2. MCIC was later retitled Marvel's Greatest Comics.

    So I am 99.9% a manga reader but I have bought a couple TPB. I tried to read a couple modern floppies and the stories really were not my cup of tea. I would like to try an authentic comic book reading experience so facsimile would be good I think but I am wondering if they do complete facsimiles of old runs and how often.

    • @threesixtycomics
      @threesixtycomics  Год назад

      They typically don’t do whole run, just major keys and stuff that’s not affordable to the average collector. Although, the walking dead did have a full reprint of the run called the “delux” edition that’s been colorized (the original run was black and white)

    • @vincentflannigan2727

      @@threesixtycomics Ok thanks for the info! That makes sense I guess cause people could go find the non keys for cheap. Dunno if I wanna go hunt down a full run of the greatest runs (I dont even know what the classics are) but maybe one day I will find something great if I ever browse a long box!

    The Marvel Tales McFarlane Covers go for a pretty penny in high grade as well as the Classic X-men books. I have a very high grade Marvel Triple Action 2 which reprints FF 58, and IMO, has a waaaaay better cover. I'd be very sad if it got dinged up lol.

    If it's bad for the community then it's a shitty community. If reprints are good enough for literature then it's good for comics.

  • @jonathansoko1085
    @jonathansoko1085 Год назад +2

    It does nothing negative for collecting and the hobby. Literally, nothing and anyone who claims it does, i dislike off the rip. I dislike ANYONE who spec buys in general, THEY and YOU if you participate in that, are the #1 problem with comic book collecting. Spec buyers and sellers are THE #1 problem and do the MOST damage to ALL of comicdom.

    • @threesixtycomics
      @threesixtycomics  Год назад

      That all depends on what you mean by speculation, because there are good kinds and bad kinds. The speculation that’s harmful to the hobby/industry is going out to a store the week a new book comes out and buying a bunch of copies and all the variants just because you heard it has a new minor character. The character will likely never take off and you’ll be left with multiple copies of a worthless book most of the time. The overall impact there is a negative one.
      The healthy type of speculation is doing so with back issues and looking for those books at a deal. For example, She-Hulk is in the MCU, and Fantastic Four are coming. At one point in the comics, she hulk was part of FF, so one might speculate on that happening in the MCU. Is it likely? No, but it could happen. So if that person looked around in dollar bins and stuff for copies FF265 to hold onto just in case that happened, that would be healthy (and fun) speculation.
      This may make a great topic for a video! Thanks for your comment and giving me a great idea.

    Facsimile reprints of modern books are no good. Especially the ones printed over the past 10 years.

    • @threesixtycomics
      @threesixtycomics  11 месяцев назад +1

      I agree with that, other than a few certain books. A facsimile of Ultimate Fallout 4 was necessary. It’s such a major key but most comic fans don’t want to spend several hundred dollars on one.
