I'm a realistic pencil artist and I only use one pencil to produce all my tones! I stopped using all the other pencils and now just rely on a 2B pencil. It's enough for me to get all the different drawing qualities I need! great video and nice drawing
Just to say, the thumbnail is what he is trying to draw. As you might of seen in the video at the early stage there was a picture of the eye on the thumbnail, which indicates that that picture was what he was using that image to show that is what he is aiming for in his picture.

nice vid!!! I've been trying to improve my eye drawings, and for me the toughest part BY FAAAR is doing the eyelashes. it's SO hard for me to make them look realistic!!! I think I need to work on the way they curve, if that makes any sense
Hey Shannon! I don't have an example of my work, so I can't prove to you the validity of my advice, lol. However, I will say that my skills are about the same a the artist of this eye. The trick to drawing realistic lashes is confidence in your lines! Confidence with your strokes in general are always helpful no matter what you're trying to draw, but when it comes to eyelashes specifically, having quick, decisive strokes can help give it that nice, realistic arch without any shakiness that comes with uncertainty. As for making it look good and real? Best I can say is practice, practice, practice! Look up references of real eyes, and don't be afraid to actually copy or even trace a picture to get the feel of how the lines move. As you stare at something more, you notice all the little details about it, and that helps your brain remember how it looks and therefore how to draw it. Just from staring at eyeballs a THOUSAND times in the past few years, I already know that top lashes are usually/always longer than bottom, they point in all directions, they curl, they don't follow a straight line, and so forth! Experiment with the mirror and look VERY CLOSELY at your own eyes and memorize all those little details, and go to the drawing board again and again. Keep a copy of your first eye and a copy of your thousandth eye and you'll see great results! There's no such thing as natural god-given talent when it comes to art-the secret is that we're all a little bumpy at first, but its the continuous effort that makes a difference. :) Hope this helped some! ^_^ Now go forth and ART!

If the title and thumbnail together were supposed to mean "Here's an eye, click to see how my own one-pencil copy turned out", then the meaning is not as clear as it could be. The result is still pretty impressive, using only the relatively light HB, but not what I was expecting when I clicked.

The face is the mirror of the mind, the eyes of people reflect the desires of their heart... eyes often times say more then words can... eyes are very similar to drawings in that regard, if you can say it in words there's no need to draw it... Eyes in artworks have something special. I guess art is a reflection of what we allow ourselves to see...

I like a 4B (Lumograph). The darks are dark, and the lights are just at the point of being able to shade smoothly into white. 6B is a bit uncontrollable for very light parts, and 5B is an odd-numbered pencil.
