Congrats on the success. Scammed in France kinda rhymes....I feel like the video where this happened you kinda gave an overview at the time. I remember you also had the small confrontation in Marseille. But like you, I'm going there ANYWAY, despite people saying don't go. I actually just watched a video of a local in Czech uncovered a BIG scam of people driving into the country getting overcharged some kind of entry pass.
And I plan to visit Marseille often since I'm moving to the country, sorta not too far (and look forward to some meet ups with you). But thanks for the reminder about the tax refund thing, I heard about it, but then forgot about it.

You should be able to obtain tax refund info directly from the vendors since they will be the ones issuing the forms you need to present at the customs. I found this process very easy and straightforward in France compared to some other countries!
