- In this final episode of Venice, Sayu Rinpoche explores the some of the best hidden gems of Venice where the crowd is scarce in compared to Piazza San Marco: Teatro La Fenice (The Phoenix Theatre), where many world famous operas such as Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata were premiered; the renowned Mercati di Rialto (Rialto Fish Market); Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, Venice's largest church building in Gothic style (but built with bricks) that features some impressive works of Tiziano/Titian (Assumption of the Virgin & Pesaro Madonna) , Donatello (John The Baptist), and Paolo Veneziano; Ghetto di Venezia, the world's first Jewish Ghetto where some of Venice's tallest residential buildings are (despite of its dark past and unfair segregation laws); and Fondaco dei Turki - The Turkish Foundation House which was significant to the trade between the East and West before the discovery of the new trade routes that also proved the earth is not flat like many thought....
