  • Took the new 2024 KTM 300 XC-W for a proper woods test to see how it stacks up against my 2020 version. This bike runs/sounds like crap at part throttle. Once I start riding in the video you can hear it. Not sure what the deal is.

    UPDATE: Just flashed the ECU with the ERM device from twostrokeperformance and it runs superb now! Thank you TSP!

    The blubber you hear at low RPM is the second injector kicking in. The first one handles real low RPM and when you hear that studdering sound of the motor it’s just the second injector. If you notice though, the bike still runs smooth and perfect, you’re letting a noise bother you. All two strokes have the studder sound, this bike pernounces it a little more because of the injector location. It’s actually a better running bike in all RPM’s than my perfectly running 2019 carb bike. The more you ride her the more you will notice it’s a sound issue you don’t like but not a performance issue. Cheers

    Had the same problem with that cracked throttle stuttering on my 2023 TX300. It fixed itself after a couple of hours on the clock. Stock plug and recommended mix of 60:1.

    Sorry to hear that mate, hope you can get it sorted and enjoy some new bike pride soon. There's some stuff on ktmtalk about TPS and setting the powervalve.

      Just FYI, the 2024 XC-W's like the one here, is a TBI. The power valve is electronic now and I believe managed by the ECU.

    I run 50 to 1 and put the BR7EIX plug in with the latest factory ecu map upload on my 23 300xc and it runs perfect. I ride the same areas. Purchased the bike in Ellensburg and it initially ran like yours. Hopefully it's something minor

    TSP is already working on mapping for it. I talked to them the other day

    Hey I've ridden that trail. Mission peak is cool. Sounds like the w's run rich too. My 250 xc tbi is too rich. Trying a tps adjust to see if that helps.

    Turn your idle speed up and see if that helps the richness down low. Worked great on mine. 2024 300 XC-W.

    “I don’t need a woods Bike that goes 80MPH”….. yes you do and so do I

    • @endurobandit
      @endurobandit Год назад

      80mph is the minimum for me lol. My bike goes 90mph and boy is it fun on the FSRs! Saves alot of gas having the taller gears too.

    I got that same bike couple weeks ago. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet.

    I would try resetting your powervalve per the manual and see if that cleans it up in the first part of the throttle.

      Dont see anything in the manual about that. Bike only came with a oil pump priming dongle.

    Hey man have you noticed any surging?? My bike has 6 hours on it and it surges pretty badly after I let off the throttle. Seems like its running too lean and im not sure what to do about it.

      No I haven't experienced that. I get a couple "pipe bangs" but that's about it.

    It would be a shame to throw a perfectly good bike this off the cliff....

    As others have said it sounds very rich. Let us know if you solve it 👍

      Just got the TSP ERM device and reflashed the bike. Runs like a dream now!!

    sounds really rich down low.. I expected these bikes to be near perfect as far as throttle response.

    • @baldknobby

      That's what I thought too but it could be the ignition timing also.

  • @tireballastserviceofflorid7771

    Not being critical. You ride your 2 stroke as if it were a 4 stroke. 2 strokes prefer to be reved higher and lugged less than a 4 stroke. Just a suggestion. Drop a gear and be active on the shifter. Like a big ole diesel. Pick a target RPM and maintin it through shifting. The old 2 strokes would have fouled a plug before you made it an hour in. Again not being critical just an observation. I went from early 70s 2 strokes through the 4 stroke trend of the late 90s. And this fall im going back to 2 stroke. The new fuel injection on the 2 strokes is a dream come true. Awesome place to ride by the way.

      If you watch this guys video, ruclips.net/video/X0HmuTy-Dhc/видео.html you can clearly hear a difference. And since you haven't ridden a modern fuel injected 300 two stroke, they do run good at low speeds. That's why a lot of people buy these things. They chug at such a low rpm, you can climb a hill at 5mph and not spin the tire.

      @baldknobby Just an observation.

      @baldknobby And I do have 41 years of off road riding. Hare scrambles and some blackjack races. Built and tuned several engines over the years as well. So maybe not a brand new 2 stroke. But it's still a 2 stroke. Just has a flatter lower power band. The physics are still the same.

      @patw9175 Год назад +5

      The modern enduro two strokes are not like the mx two strokes.

    • @tireballastserviceofflorid7771
      @tireballastserviceofflorid7771 Год назад

      @patw9175 It's still a 2 stroke. While the tuning is different. It's still a 2 stroke. All I'm saying is your lugging it till it begins to stall. Listen to other videos and see if you hear them blubbering along in the high hole.
