We were out of CC last week. My boy is 15 and in challenge 1, my girl is 9 and in foundations.

Here's your info for the flamingos: Flamingos turn pink from eating shrimp and many other dietary sources such as blue-green algae and mollusk. This happens because shrimp contains the pigment called beta carotene which is responsible for the change in coloration.

I remember taking my kids from Ohio to Niagara Falls in Canada (by myself) when they were about 8 and 11 years old. I could hardly believe it myself when I managed to get that trip accomplished by myself. It was a turning point in my development as a woman who could "do things." ☺

Bri, check with your local library for passes to local museums and parks! My library has them to check out and I think each pass is good for several people. There might be a waiting list, but you can check with your library for information! Also a good place for free events and concerts for kids! ☺

Wow, I am 79 and I have not been to the zoo in ages. I had so much fun wih you and your kids today, I felt like I just tagged aong like another kid. Seeing the nursing mothers was a sweet surprise. Life, goes on , every spring new life comes forth. babies, tiny plants , each specie and creature bringing forth its own kind. I wished I could have some tachos and snuggle in for a movie with all of you. It brought back good memories of raising my 3 lititle ones, and being a single Mom, while my husband was away for long months at a time as a commercial fisherman. The dinner hour and early evenings were the most challenging and blessed. We would go out to eat at the Royal Fork cafeteria,, and drive around for a while, go down to the shoreline and watch the ferries, and the sunset, then home and watch tv and snuggle on the couch. In those days, kids could eat dinner at the RF for 10 cents per year of age and the food was fresh and good. Little Wilder is so astute for 4 yrs old!! his remark about the Lion planning his next meal !! took my breath away. And Royal, oh my goodness, figuring out how to help Mommy…!! Your children are so intelligent and loving, You are such a good Mother. ❤

What a beautiful day! I remember those days when my kids were little and I was practically praying LOL that they didn't take a little cat nap in the car because that totally threw their schedule off, which in turn totally threw my schedule off. Royals mooing was so precious😊

I remember these days. Was a single mom for 14 years. I only had 2 boys of my own....but we usually had a friend, or two, or three in tow. That could really add up (when they are always hungry!!!). So a couple of 2-liter of drink, some lunch meat, loaf of bread, and a day trip was so affordable. Then it turned into camping trips instead of Disney trips.....but we have great memories.

What a fun day for you all. Zoo trips are such fun. During covid when restrictions were strict in Canada where I live I got Zoo passes for myself and my grandaughters I care for. We spent many hours walking the zoo and they always had a great time. Certainly going to try those Tatchos

What a great zoo! I never knew Greenville had one and we used to go there regularly for the Costco. One benefit of a smaller zoo is that you can actually get to everything and not be exhausted. you leave still feeling like you can continue to do something and nobody is overwhelmed and cranky!

Bri, you're such an AMAZING Mom! I enjoyed your field trip. As a single Mom, I did exactly as you by bringing our food and snacks when going anywhere. We simply couldn't afford to do otherwise. My grown children especially remember taking them to the small wooded area next to our neighboring cities swimming pool and I would cook chicken on the barbecues that were furnished while they would swim. They loved it.

When my daughter was 3 or 4, we went to the zoo and ate our peanut butter sandwiches while watching the elephants eat. Picnics at the zoo are great memories! And your upside-down tachos sound really good. Will have to try those.

When you sliced the potato I come to think of a dinner my father use to make it has a Swedish name, kjöttlåda, means meat drawer. You slice potato and meat in thin slices and lay them in layers in a big pan. Seasoning between every layer with salt and pepper. The layer ends with a layer of potatoes. Take some flour in a glass with lid and water, shake well until it's no lumps in the water. Pore it over the Kjöttlåda and put it in the oven on 180 celcius for about an hour or so, it depends on your oven. I loved when the potato on top are crispy. Sadly I can't eat this dinner anymore since I'm allergic to potatoes. But I guess I can use sweet potato?

Those Tatchos look sooooo good. When I was pregnant with my first/oldest daughter, my craving was nachos with extra jalapeño peppers. I have not cared for jalapeños before or since, but loved them during pregnancy.
