Bri I watched “Art and Bri” for years , and so enjoyed watching your beautiful family grow. But I must say I love your new channel even more. Having raised 3 children as a single mom myself I guess I can relate a little more. I admire your confidence, patience and strength of spirit as you build a new life for yourself and your family. I know it can be challenging, hard work but in the end so rewarding. You are doing a great job! Thanks for sharing these insights into your life with us

My son is 18 and away at his first year of university and am so happy I was able to truly treasure every moment with him I could while he was growing up. I still love him with food when he comes home and send him back with all the homemade meals I can.

You can use instant potatoes as a thickener. I've done it many times and it's really good. I've also used frozen uncooked chopped up potatoes that would normally be used for hashbrowns. I just throw in a couple hands full so they cook with the broc. Like you I don't use exact measurements lol

I just watched this with my 5 year old and she LOVED IT! I cook with my kids but often feel like I can’t explain things I do very well and you did just that! We homeschool too so it was a Saturday homeschool lesson! I’m not sure if you considered that idea for videos but if you did more videos like this, explaining your techniques and why you use the back of the knife, etc. I will forever use those for homeschool lessons! I’m sure many more parents would too! Good job Bri! Absolutely love the way you teach us, even us seasoned home cooks and gardeners! Learning something new every time I watch you!

Here’s a chicken and potato soup - Cook 2 jacket potatoes in the microwave. Scoop the potatoes out of the skins. Cook enough chicken for a couple of portions. Put it all in a blender and whiz until smooth. Add water if needed to make the consistency to suit. Add salt. I tried this the other day on the spur of the moment to see if it would be good and it was delicious! 😋

Bri, I learned from a Paula Deen cheese soup recipe to add the cheese to the butter, onions, and garlic after sautéing them, then allow the cheese to gently melt before adding the other ingredients, the onions and garlic will infuse flavor into the cheese and give a depth to the soup that is so tasty. ❤

In a super hurry? A little instant mashed potatoes thickens it well if you must. Can't wait to try your recipe, Bri!! Love your channel! Had to edit this...rewatching the vlog. Is it just me, or is Bri, a single mom of 7 beautiful children (who clearly know they are loved beyond words), looking so very put together??? Lol!! Bri, it doesn't matter what you're vlogging about, you always look nice. My mom told me years ago (r.i.p. mom) no matter what icky stuff you're going thru, get up, get cleaned up & dressed & a little make up if you choose, but start each day caring for yourself 1st to be ready to care for the rest of the important people in your life. Love the new apron, & love how personable you are, but mostly love the way you take care of the kids...food, vlog, cleaning, gardening...well, kids are #1. They will always know mom's in their corner...teaching with love is the best (teaching kids or all of us wayward beings out here...lol)! I'm loving how talkative babies are now. You're a blessed lady, Bri! Thanks for sharing your controlled chaos....it's beautiful, & God is in the midst!

Hey Bri loved your soup might give it a go. I also love your tip’s along the way as lots of people don’t know these things and are so happy to learn.
May I add a couple of hints for you. Please use back burners with little children and always leave the pot at the back of the stove to avoid accidents. Another hint I found works is to keep a plastic board for onion and garlic as I find the smell of onion dosen’t really ever come out of the wood so white boards for onion’s garlic and meat and wooden for everything else.

    Soups are my jam!
I remember when I first began tackling cooking things didn't always taste like my grandma's even when I followed recipes. I had to learn to cook with my nose! 1 tablespoon of fresh chopped basil is definitely different than 1 tablespoon of dried basil! Little things like that can make such a big difference.
That tip about the onions was so great! Some 20 years back if a recipe mentioned cooking onions until translucent I was so lost! So many new (and maybe some of us old hat) cooks/bakers will really benefit from all the tips sprinkled about this video! I had no idea about the using back of knife thing!
Have you ever had roasted pepper soup? I know there are tons of recipes. I add pumpkin or butternut squash to mine to thicken a bit. It gets hit with the blender, too. Goes really great with a nice chunk of fresh out of the oven crusty bread! 😊

I've been cooking from scratch for forty years and even I learned some new tricks. Why-o-why did I never think to cut my onion in half before peeling? Such a good tip!. And using the back of the knife to slide the cut vegetables off the cutting board. . Brilliant! My eyes have always burned while peeling and cutting onions. I have goggles but just never used them. I really have to keep them in the kitchen. Excellent demonstration of translucent onions and why you need to wait to add the garlic. I've never used celery seeds. I'll have to research when to use it. My guess is that it adds a depth of flavor. Overall a great video for a seemingly simple dish to make. I love seeing the cameo appearances of your kids

My mom used to add drops of hot sauce. It added a delicious flavor. Of course you can add more for a 🔥 HoT 🔥 flavor. We didn't. ENJOY. I buy my nutmeg on sale right after CHRISTMAS each year.
I will try the nutmeg next time. It adds a nice flavor. Thank you. CHOW 👍🌹🥀🙏🙏🛐🀄❤️

I love broccoli cheese soup! I don’t use broth. I use coconut milk and everything else. It’s a bit thicker than broth and you can add a can of coconut cream as well.

You measure salt the same way I do. I just have a couple of tips for you.
When you are going to use the immersion blender you don’t need to cut up the onions so finely. They will still sauté just fine. When I chop onions, I do it as close as I can to the sink and I run the cold water while chopping. The water vapour clings to the onion vapour and stops the eye burn. That’s a trick I learned in a professional kitchen when I was 19 and it’s worked for me for over 40 years.
Nutmeg will draw out the flavour in any dish with chicken broth. I use a pinch in any chicken or poultry gravy that I make. It also gives beef dishes a boost too.

Chicken and potato soup - I cook enough potatoes for two portions and enough chicken for 2, put them in a blender and whiz until smooth, add water for your desired consistency, add salt, reheat and serve, or refrigerate or freeze.
I tried this the other day on the spur of the moment to see if it would work and it was delicious! 😋
