If you want your child to sit in a class with a cell phone in their face, then you need to be teaching your child yourself. They don’t need to be in anyone’s classroom.

I'm not sure what the name of this device is. (an anti-spy detector I think is its name.) Every classroom should have one.

Back then, cellphones was mostly for adults and super rich kids. Need to call home, go to the office. Need to catchup with friends, write and pass notes to each other. Nowadays, it's crying and protesting instead of finding alternative ways. Our future society is screwed. No wonder why there's a teacher shortage, these parents don't know how to teach their kids how to behave and follow rules. I sure don't want to babysit these irresponsible parent's kids.
If I was kid now and was found at this silly protest, I would've received an ass whooping from my parents.

The way to manage this is to not send your child to school with a smartphone. If you absolutely feel that your child NEEDS a phone, buy them a basic flip phone. It’s the smartphone apps that are a distraction. Also…parents text those kids ALL DAY LONG while they’re in class. The parents are being dramatic and causing their kids to be dramatic about the phones.

I've had to do it too often. I'm sure how to remedy the situation. But parents want to feel safe. And so do kids. The bunch that are not acting right I get is hard for teachers. Maybe a meeting to help figure out a better plan.

Your daughter would be an exception as case by case scenarios can be accommodated with proper health paperwork and proof. This is why you include health conditions for your kid and request accommodations for emergencies. They would make an exception for your daughter then but sounds like you don't want to go through that process.

    • @dizzyness786

I remember having to practice my handwriting at the beginning of each year bc just over the summer I'd lose the ability to do it as well. I can't imagine how hard it is for them. Parents are already bad enough living on them, but now they let those cellphones babysit their kids. School is for learning...not walking out of class because you don't like the rules. That speaks volumes about the mindset that people are giving these kids. They are placing feelings over education. If there is a lock down...suck it up. Get out of your feelings and stop acting like this is brand new. Yes...people want their kids safe....and they should...but whining over cellphones is pathetic.

Back when I was in high school several years ago, my school placed phone "cubbies" in every classroom. We needed to turn in our phones every time we entered and started class. We'd grab our phones at the end of class and do it all over again when we have to go to our next class. This system may be better because the phones are not there to distract students, and their phones are still available in case of an emergency. They'd just be safe in the box in their own compartments. We didn't take this new rule seriously at first, but our phones got confiscated until a parent could pick it up and we got Saturday detention. It was a bit harsh but we learned our lesson. I never used my phone in class but I still got in trouble for not turning it in the box.
I still support the decision to ban cell phone usage, but have them turn the phone in a safe place and in the same classroom where they are accessible in case of emergencies. Nevertheless, people shouldn't take education for granted. People can barely spell simple things correctly nowadays.

Boomers in the comments complaining about the phones they use as well. Get with the times. Everyone has a phone nowadays. Can't run away from what's more convenient. Kids need phones in case of an emergency. Also, for shy kids like me, using my phone is an escape from being lonely and having no one to talk to. So stop taking away what makes kids happy. It's an easy way to contact my parents.

They should haven't phones in schools period because that's how socal media drama starts. I'm 37 years old I'll loved going to school back then and we used to get in trouble if we ever had any devices in class this was a big deal. Reason I'll hate socal media now like Facebook, Tik Tok and Snapchat. If I'll can live without by socal media so can everyone else in this world people and the this new generation of kids have social media to get attention

If you have to ban them, kids won’t learn to use them responsibly. They need to learn how to practice restraint, because after they graduate there won’t be anyone there to enforce these rules.
This is a lazy way of addressing the symptom instead of managing the cause.

You can use a phone all day in College. Your really caging future adults. If you cant handle a phone than you will have a tough life. Fights happen at EVERY school. You cannot stop children from doing child things. Some people know how to get up and get a job. Others rather be homeless 😮‍💨

I don't agree with banning phones it is a safety concern having that means to call for help is essential. Especially victims that are punished for standing up to bullies. Maybe schools should start focusing on punishing actually bad students and less on making stupid useless rules and bans on things. Its also because of how woke and corrupt schools are nowadays parents need to know what a trash school may be teaching their kids without their knowing. Also there is the fact that if a student is so distracted by a phone then it may be due to bad parenting I was always taught to pay attention in class and to put my phone away in my bag during class most of the kids I know that were distracted by a phone were rich spoiled brats who's parents never punish them.

This is sad! Phones are 100% a distraction in the classroom! No way these children should have phones in class. This is not about safety! It's about entitled babies!

All the comments coming from millennials who didn’t have internet on their phones till their 30’s 😂. Quit trying to force your old world views on the new generation yall might seem them a distraction but 95% of the time the students use their phones for research for school I know I did.
