NEWS! Ubiquiti just released several new accessories to this Toolless rack -- which is great because means the product is not dead! Shelf: store.ui.com/us/en/category/accessories-rack-mount/products/uacc-rack-shelf-tl?a_aid=Apex&chan=yt & toolless RJ45 Cat 6 and Cat 6a couplers AND keystone jacks! store.ui.com/us/en/category/accessories-rack-mount/products/uacc-keystone-coupler-c6?variant=uacc-keystone-coupler-c6?a_aid=Apex&chan=yt
Thanks for sharing this fantastic rack installation video! This is the final piece to my UniFi setup, which will arrive soon. I’ll be pairing it with an IKEA cutting board top to give it a modern look!
Correct to what @Timelessplays. And in this case, I would use the SFP+ on UDM Pro Max since the switch only has two. You should be able to re-assign the default WAN SFP+ port on the UDM to use as a LAN port. Otherwise, just use the typical 1G RJ45 ethernet patch cable.
Great video thanks so much, does the switch or gateway you have come with the sfp connector and cable or did you buy it separate? What length were the cables from the patch panel to switch as well?
Does not come with that SFP+ cable. Best to always check the "What's in the box" tab on the product store page. The patch cables are the Etherlighting patch cables, 6 inch: store.ui.com/us/en/category/accessories-cables-dacs/collections/accessories-pro-patch-cables/products/uacc-cable-patch-el?variant=uacc-cable-patch-el-015m-w-24&a_aid=Apex&chan=yt
Good question! I just dropped the NVR as an example of what fits in there. Before deciding to use a dedicated NVR or not, you’d want to consider the performance hit on the UCG Pro Max. Yes, it has a RAID setup that can run Protect but doesn’t mean it should. It depends on what the UCG Pro Max is already processing and how large of a Protect deployment you’re doing and how long you want to retain recordings. I would use the UniFi Capacity Calculator to determine that. For a small home, a single UCG Pro Max would cover Protect for probably 30 days of history with a 16TB drive and that would be fine. But really, I probably wouldn’t deploy a UCG Pro Max for a small home.
Not "securely". You always lay standard 19" rack equipment in like a UPS but you can't screw down with those thumbscrews. They also, as of literally today, added a shelf you can buy. store.ui.com/us/en/category/accessories-rack-mount/products/uacc-rack-shelf-tl?a_aid=Apex&chan=yt
I'm not a fan of this rack. You have to sit on the floor to work on it, It takes up the same amount of space as a cabinet with a fraction of hardware space available and it looks transportable with it's wheels but it isn't because any rack has to stay at it's place once and forall because that's where it's wired connections are. There are very few applications for racks on rolls like concerts, exibitions or something like that. In normal use noone needs a Rack-Mount with wheels.
I live in an apartment and my 15U network rack has wheels on it. It allows me to move the rack out of the corner it’s in if I need to get behind it and I can just unplug power from the rack and roll it anywhere if I move. It’s pretty nice
Yeah it's not the best overall but best in terms of a fast setup. The wheels kinda act like those hinged wall-mounted cabinets--meaning that it's not that you'll be rolling this around but you could be spinning it around just for better access.

Looks great , can you show how you connect the NVR as the connection seems to come from the back ?
You would take the cable from the back and go into a coupler in the patch panel

Why dedicated NVR when you have 2 bays on Cloud Gate?

Can you install non Ubiquiti gear into this rack?

If you do 12u double stack, are there any side handles?
No, just the top handles.
Final time...
11:32! Didn't quite make it. Need to talk less 😂

It will shock you to find out even data center racks often have wheels
