It wasn’t an ideal position so this roof mount will be excellent. In saying it wasn’t ideal it was more visual than anything else. The Internet speed and reliability was still excellent. Nice, looking at getting a 4G or 5G modem for failover on WAN2 so that my camera VLAN can still be able to send clips to the cloud in case of a robbery. Still not sure of what modem to get, possibly the GL-X750V2 since it is cheap. 5G would be better but it is more expensive. Now to look into how to send only specific traffic to the failover connection. I think this video will help me look in the correct direction.

I have a question: I did all you showed in the video, and created a new network like this with the same Name/Password, but when i try to connect with my phone or laptop, i see both Networks seperate. How can i merge them, so my Device will chose the best one? But anyways, great Video and it helped a lot ;-)

Hi, I watched your Vid before istalling my UNIFI Network. And the biggest difference betwen 1G and 2.5G Flex mini is, you can´t deploy multiple networks on the 1G

This was very helpful, and exactly the scenario I was challenged with. Thank you for the video. After installing an UCG Ultra as my Gateway, I foolishly went into my old ASUS WIFI Router(RT-AC68U) settings and just turned off DHCP thinking it would render it as an AP, . It worked for 10 minutes then would crash my Unifi Network. 😒 At first I wasn't sure what was bringing it down, but after unplugging the ethernet cable to the ASUS Router the network would come to back to life. This was also dumb on another level, because then I could no longer access the router to reconfigure it. I ended doing a Hard Reset and followed the setup for 'Access Point'. All is good now. I have three houses, two with Ultras and one with an Express. The Express is configured permanently as a VPN Client to one of the Ultras so that I can use it's Public IP. I am going to educate myself on Site to Site so that I might understand if this is a better option, but everything seems to work for now. Site to Site seems more complicated.

I am assuming with this new UCG Max can be used with external/3rd party MESH WIFI routers, as you alluded to with the ULTRA in previous video.... or even if went up to the UDM... I love the Unifi network (wired) and software, but for the WIFI not a fan of their access points, I would prefer to use a 3rd party wifi 7 mesh router, with understandably limited controls... just want to make sure that would still work fine.

Great video. Very helpful. It seems like you need to use the Starkink app to get everything set up, but how does it set up and connect when in remote areas? To use the app and set it up we would need cellular and/or internet, but in a remote area with neither until the Mini is set up how is this accomplished?

I live in a rental and have two Alien AMPLIFI routers. One in the main room where my internet comes in and the other is in my home office. The reason is since this is a rental I can’t run cables and I have some equipment in the office that needs Ethernet.. I was wondering if I can get the same setup with the Unifi Cloud Gateway and two AP’s one connected to the gateway either via POE switch or POE injector and the other in the office connected to a switch. can the AP’s mesh and give the switch in the office access to the network?

issue with this is it doesn’t scale well. files app doesn’t search the unas or any other smb. sure it’s fine with a few files for a demo but a large file system you’ll have to manually navigate through the folders. hoping unifi creates a “drive” app

Good video, told me what I didn't want to hear though, I was hoping I could combine two internets and get a combined speed on one device at a time as it would be a gamechanger for the work I do which requires a lot of heavy uploading. While I can get very good downloads at my current address -1600 mb/s and 1000mb/s using two networks using different infrastructures, both have comparability lackluster upload speeds (115 mb/s and 200 mb/s respectively, meaning I could have up to 315 mb/s combined). I'm sure there is a way to do this, but I don't really want to mess with anything outside the UniFi ecosystem.

I do not get the "adopt"-option, why is that? I can set up the Access Point but then always have to create a new WiFi. Therefore, I now have 3 Access Points with 3 different WiFi's. Can I merge them together? Thank you for your appreciated help.

I'd like to go with the Ubiquiti UniFi Flex XG 10Gbe switch for my home use, but with only 4 ports and what appears to be slower and less features than TP-Link JetStream TL-SX3206HPP 10G Managed Switch, I may have to go with TP Link. I wish Ubiquiti made a 10Gbe switch for home with more than 4 ports.

In your video, you said it will not help single client to reach higher speeds. I understand that it’s not possible to get a higher speed for a single connection. But what about a client that runs multiple connections? For example a client downloading a game from Steam and Epic Store. Or client running multiple RTMP upload streams and bottlenecked by uplink. Wouldn’t the load shared in these scenarios as there are multiple connections?

Great video. Thanks! I’m currently running a UDM Pro, a unifi Lite PoE and 2 APs + clients. But I want to move to either a Dream Wall or something that fits in a 10” rack (no room for a full 19” rack) to get things more organized. I’ve got 1Gbs up and down and a few clients that could utilize 2.5 Gbs nics. Can the Gateway Max handle being mounted in a 10” rack in terms of heat? Or would you suggest the Dream Will in my case?

Can a specific laptop, for example, be on 2 VLANs? Maybe part of the same question, how does staff back up to or use the network storage if they are on a different VLANs?

as someone who just got a UCG Max and a Pro Max 16, I can tell you even if you have 1g internet, you'll benefit with 2.5g ports. Grated I also have a 10GbE aggregator but my internet speeds went from 900ish to 1250ish with the 2.5GbE ports on the gateway and switch.

Hey great videos, I’ve learned a lot about ubiquiti’s products. I have a question for you. If I buy the gateway max, would it not make more sense to buy the Flex Mini 2.5g as my switch? Since the Gateway Max has 5 2.5g and the Flex mini has 5 2.5g ports, connecting them together would give me 8 useable 2.5g ports right? I’m just trying to figure out why I would want the slower USW Ultra switch with 8 1g ports. Edit: I have a 1gb connection and a 2.5g NAS
