    Does U6+ uses DHCP from my router for new clients or it creates his own DHCP scope?

    Hello. I have uniFI U7-pro and i’m using as an access router. My home at the bottom of the building and i cannot have internet as i near the access point. Now i have another U7-pro and i want to use it as a repeater. How can i setup my second U7-pro as a repeater? Could you help me, please?

    Great video, informative. Would this arrangement be ok with 2 U6 APs? I need two for physical coverage but don’t need all the Unifi system, just basic WiFi for residential use. Will two APs work together and play nicely like this but on the same network?

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  2 месяца назад

      It’ll work but won’t be ideal. The WiFi signal won’t switch well between the two APs. Meaning that if your phone is connected to AP 1 and you walk around your house, and your phone is much closer to AP 2, it won’t switch when it needs to. It will probably switch over to the closer AP eventually but you’ll probably lose signal before it does which isn’t great. I haven’t tried two APs like this but that’s what Ubiquiti themselves point out. Consider the U6 Long Range. I’ve installed one in a two-story home and covers the entire house well, add outdoors.

    I have a unifi express and u6 + with Poe+ switch coming tomorrow - will the unifi express and the u6 behave as two different wifi networks? I just want one wifi network but with multiple access points.
    Thanks

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  3 месяца назад +2

      Thanks! You’ll setup the express first. Then can plug in both the switch and u6+. Use the UniFi app and it’ll be a breeze. By default, the u6+ will broadcast the same WiFi signal so you’re good to go.

      @@ApexOneTech I also have a unifi express and an extra AP connected to it. I want to plug that into my existing network, so behind my main router in the house and have all devices connected to both the main router directly and the devices connected via the unifi network being able to see eachother. By default the express creates a new network and has its own DHCP active. How can I change the network settings to achieve my goal?

    I have a Fritzbox with two SSIDs, the main one and the guests one. If I install these APs, will they generate two SSIDs? Or only the main one?

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  2 месяца назад

      In short, just the main one. The details: the UniFi AP in standalone mode only gives you two WiFi signals, one in 2.4 and the other in 5 GHz. Typically, you would just have one SSID for both 2.4 and 5 GHz. The way you can have two is if you separate your main SSID to be one radio and your guest on the other. For example, main on 5 GHz and guest on 2.4 GHz. I wouldn’t recommend that though. Really, the AP in standalone mode should be used for one SSID.

    I want to set up using unifi management as I would like more than 1 SSID. Do I still use my existing router for security and disable the routers wifi capabilities? How then do I take advantage of unify management? I have the LR version

      You need to get a UniFi cloud gateway to replace your router. Look here: store.ui.com/us/en?category=all-unifi-cloud-gateways
      You don't need one with integrated wifi. Most likely, a UCG-Ultra would work for you.

    • @ApexOneTech

      For the access point? You’ll have to do that in your router. Search google for Fixed IP address or DHCP reservation with your router model.

    Can anyone explain this. I have setup access point as above however when I change the cable from the injector to the acccess point it is powered on, blue light is solid, and it is broadcasting the network, however I can not log onto the network and it does not appear in the app either. I'm stumped. Switch back the cable and it all works again. I've tried serveral cables and it doesn't work with them either. I love computers.

    About speedtest, how is U6+?

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  2 месяца назад

      Mostly just depends on your internet service provider for your internet speeds. Connection via a wireless access point will always have some speed loss when compared to a hardwired connection. If you’re asking about throughout of data with the U6 Plus, it’s on par with everything else. Specs wise: 570 Mbps on 2.4 GHz band and 2,400 Mbps on 5 GHz band. These numbers are for absolute ideal conditions though. Realistically, it’ll be much lower. Again though, when comparing to other APs, you just want your consider the coverage area and maybe MIMO.

    How did you use this with or without bridge mode? How did it work compared to the Netgear router?

    • @ApexOneTech
      @ApexOneTech  2 месяца назад

      This specific one was about the same in coverage. However, it would only be worth it to me if I was adding like a long range Unifi access point. There’s quite a bit of limitations as I point out. However, if you’re okay with the SSID limitations and just have complete dead WiFi zones, then it’s an easy solution. I did not use this in bridge mode.
