    Tips On Troubleshooting GY6 Scooter / Motorcycle Noises
    Being a good listener will ensure that you are able to hear any funny voices that you scooter makes. These may be when riding your scooter and you wonder what could be wrong with your scooter. Odd new sounds, voices and vibrations from your scooter are a signal that something is probably wrong with your scooter.
    In most cases these funny noises and sounds are usually a warning. With any scooter types, the sources of these sounds and noises can be both unusual and routine, but others may be distinctive warning of specific scooter problems. The common rattle from your scooter can be a loose external component and that just needs some tightening up or buying a new fastener. Below are 2 of these sounds and noises on your scooter and what they may mean for your scooter.
    Snap, crackle, pop
    This sound may indicate a “short “or a leakage of the ignition energy to the ground. This is most likely to be especially if it is accompanied by a hesitation of the engine. This sound may be caused by the ignition energy that are arcing from a flaw or a crack in the spark plugs wire insulations, the caps of the spark plugs to the engine, frame or other metallic components. Carefully inspect whether the wires and the caps are in perfect order. The costs of these components are low and you should replace them when you have doubts.
    Boo, hiss sound
    This sound eliminates from deflated tires. The ability to hear your tires going down simply means that you stop the situation from becoming a potential crash. Flooded cell battery on the charger or the charging system which is seriously overcharged causes the electrolytes to off. The gas can cause a hissing sound since the gas if being forced out from the overflow tube, out of a crack on the case or out of the cell cap. You should stop immediately this charging condition will help protect you from a potential battery burst.
    Some other sources that may produce this hissing sound may include radiator leaks, blown gaskets and exhaust system that is leaking. These sounds cannot disable your scooter immediately but they signal the need for service of your scooter very soon.
    These are just but two sounds and noise that you should look out for in your scooter as you ride it. The sounds and noises your scooter can create are unlimited. Being familiar with your scooter will ensure that you know the sounds it produces normally and which are not.
    I hope this video will help you

    Hi, great video smart guy. Just got my scooter back from mechanics and they replaced the battery and had fixed a wobbly wheel that had come new on the scooter. A while ago I changed the oil and it was full later that night went to gas station and it was very very low the same day so I topped it off and I think a little bit overfill the max lines just a tad. I still have it sput a bit when I goto start it 50% of the time but it does still start everytime, starter issue maybe?But now the next days riding at about 30km its making a ticking sound somewhere around the back side somewhere thought it was left side but might be back right where that cooling fan is and the ticking sound speeds up as I go faster and faster any idea what it could be? I'll take it back to mechanics tomorrow and edit in if they say anything. Thanks

    • @VirberelloScooterTips
      @VirberelloScooterTips  3 года назад +1

      Hello Fire Gaming if it sput a little when you start could be the sparkplug sometime upgrade to a iridium sparkplug makes a big difference ticking noise at the cooling fan could be the pick up coil touching the flywheel when it turn over sometimes the bolt get lose and the pick up move lower or sometime you need to adjust the valves

    • @firegaming9672
      @firegaming9672 3 года назад +2

      @@VirberelloScooterTips found out what it was. While I was checking the pickup coil I looked over and noticed the innertube they installed has a straight tap where you put the air in instead of a 90 degree tap like the original so everytime it goes around it touches part of the metal of the wheel which is grinding off the plastic from the air cap. Guess they didn't check it well enough when they installed it. They also installed the headlight like sideways as well or messed up bulb but the prongs look sideways so I think it's installed sideways because there is a blank spot while driving. Gonna try to make them fix this stuff for free since I already paid them and they messed it up lol. Thanks again man glad I found it. Pickup was still tight BTW and I'll keep the iridium spark plug in mind at next service thanks man!

    hey man i love your videos!!!! your awesome, so i have a question(s) for you.... its about a noise, i feel like everything you described as far as what can make a potential noise, may be something my scooter ppotentially may have an issue with... for example the ;location and description of what the weight bearijngs swound like and where the noise is located, as well as gears in the gear box etc. so this is what happened after all my problems started, i was dping 45 and holding it steady, when the belt was just ripped to shreds inside the cvt case... after waiting days for the replacememt belt i put the new one on. and am still counting the issues that followed. but idk where to start or what to fix, i have made small minor adjustments where and when i could see an easy fix. but theres something still really loud going on that i need fixed asap... my take off sucks, sometimes idk if im gona ever get goin, but it does and when it does it sounds like its on it top end and giving everything it has. BUT since all this its now going at least 10mph slower if not more!!!! plese help me!! whats going on w my scooter???

    I just bought a scooter one week ago & I am noticing that sometimes when I start it, after it turns over & starts running, it makes a single "ting" sound. I had only heard it once or twice, but then today during a cold start, I heard it again. Then it was running fine. I thought I had perhaps accidentally let go of my break before the starter button. I don't recall anyone saying anything about that but I thought it might be that. Then later I started it three times and one of the times it did it again even though I made sure I kept the brake on until after I release the starter button. I'm hoping this is nothing serious, but need to know if I need to take it back in to have it looked at. And did I cause it if I inadvertently let go of the break before the starter.??

    • @VirberelloScooterTips
      @VirberelloScooterTips  Год назад +1

      I'd be happy to help you with the vibration issue on your gas scooter. Vibrations in the front wheel can be caused by a variety of factors, and it's important to identify the root cause in order to address the problem effectively. Here are a few possible causes and troubleshooting steps you can try:
      Wheel alignment: Check if the front wheel is properly aligned. If it's misaligned, it can cause vibrations. You can align the wheel by adjusting the alignment bolts or nuts according to your scooter's specifications.
      Tire balance: Imbalanced tires can cause vibrations. Ensure that the front tire is properly balanced. You can have a professional mechanic check and balance the tire if needed.
      Tire condition: Inspect the front tire for any signs of damage, such as bulges, cuts, or uneven wear. If the tire is damaged or worn unevenly, it may need to be replaced.
      Wheel bearings: Worn or damaged wheel bearings can also cause vibrations. Lift the front of the scooter off the ground and check for any excessive play or roughness when rotating the wheel. If the bearings are faulty, they should be replaced.
      Suspension components: Check the front suspension components, including the fork and shock absorbers, for any damage or wear. Faulty suspension can contribute to vibrations. If necessary, have a professional inspect and service the suspension system.
      Loose or worn-out parts: Ensure that all bolts, nuts, and fasteners in the front wheel assembly are tightened properly. Loose or worn-out parts can lead to vibrations. Check the front axle, brake caliper, and other relevant components for any signs of wear or looseness.
      If you're unsure about performing any of these steps yourself, it's advisable to take your gas scooter to a qualified mechanic or a scooter repair shop. They will have the expertise and tools to diagnose and fix the issue accurately. Thank you for watching my video

    • @VirberelloScooterTips
      @VirberelloScooterTips  10 месяцев назад

      I'd be happy to help you diagnose the issue with your scooter. A clicking sound coming from the rear tire could be caused by a few different factors. While I can't diagnose the problem definitively without physically inspecting the scooter, I can provide you with some potential reasons for the clicking sound:
      Wheel Bearings: Worn or damaged wheel bearings can produce clicking sounds when the wheel rotates. Bearings may need lubrication or replacement if they are causing the noise.
      Belt: If your scooter has a belt drive, there could be an issue with the belt tension, alignment, or even a damaged that's causing the clicking sound.
      Loose Components: Check for any loose parts around the rear wheel area, such as the fender, kickstand, or exhaust mounts. These loose components could be moving slightly when the scooter is manually backed up, causing the clicking sound.
      Tire Debris: Sometimes, small debris like stones or pebbles can get lodged between the tire treads and the frame or fender. As the wheel rotates, these objects might cause a clicking noise.
      it's important to address this issue to ensure the safety of your scooter. Here's what you can do:
      Visual Inspection: Carefully inspect the rear wheel area for any visible issues like loose components, debris, or irregularities.
      Tire Check: Check the tire treads, sidewalls, and spokes (if applicable) for any signs of damage.
      Wheel Bearings: If you're comfortable with it, you could jack up the scooter to check for any play or roughness in the wheel's rotation, indicating potential bearing issues.
      Brakes: Examine the brake caliper, pads, and rotor for proper alignment and tightness.
      Belt: Inspect the belt for proper tension and alignment. Look for any damaged teeth.
      If you're unsure about any of these steps or if the clicking sound persists after your inspection, it's recommended to have a professional mechanic or technician look at your scooter. They can provide a more accurate diagnosis and perform any necessary repairs to ensure your scooter is safe to ride.

    When I get to a high speed I start hearing like a winding or almost like the breaks are scraping and or it sounds like engine knock but I doubt it’s that tbh

    • @VirberelloScooterTips
      @VirberelloScooterTips  11 месяцев назад

      If you're experiencing unusual noises when riding your gas scooter at high speeds, there are several potential causes that could be contributing to the issue:
      Belt or chain issues: Gas scooters often use belts or chains to transfer power from the engine to the wheels. If these components are worn, loose, or misaligned, they can produce a winding or scraping noise at high speeds.
      Brake problems: The scraping noise you're hearing might be related to the brake system. It's possible that the brake pads are worn out or there's an issue with the brake calipers or rotors, leading to contact and noise when you apply the brakes.
      Engine problems: Engine knock can occur due to various factors, such as poor fuel quality, incorrect fuel-to-air ratio, carbon buildup, or ignition timing issues. While it may not be the first assumption, it's worth getting the engine checked by a professional to rule out any potential problems.
      Loose or damaged components: Vibrations at high speeds can cause various parts of the scooter to loosen, leading to rattling or knocking noises. Check for loose bolts, screws, or any visibly damaged components.
      Exhaust system: A loose or damaged exhaust system can cause rattling or scraping sounds. Inspect the exhaust system for any signs of damage or loose parts.
      Suspension issues: Faulty suspension components can lead to knocking or rattling noises as the scooter encounters bumps or uneven surfaces at high speeds.
      Wheel and tire problems: Uneven tire wear, damaged tires, or loose wheels can also produce unusual sounds while riding. THank you for watching my video

      Hello Gary I' m no to familiar with Kimco 300 but if you have a clicking noise many times comes from the valves and they only need to be adjusted but sometime on gy6 scooter can be a bad oil pump and the valves not having oil pressure they become louder so the best way is to check the valves clearance first and also try to locate and pin point the location of the sound at the motor by placing a large screwdriver handle at your ear and touching the motor with the tip of the screwdriver and that will help you a lot on finding the problem. I hope this can help you also join chinese project scooters on facebook and there you can post a video or a question if someone has a Kimyco 300cc

    I bought a second hand scooter with a 100cc conversion kit but the stock exhaust is still installed. When I rev the motor it makes a little rattle. I'm assuming it's because the exhaust is too narrow. Any ideas?

    • @VirberelloScooterTips
      @VirberelloScooterTips  11 месяцев назад +1

      The rattling sound you hear when revving the motor on your scooter could be caused by a few different factors, including a narrow exhaust, but there might be other possibilities as well. Here are a few potential causes to consider:
      Exhaust Restriction: The stock exhaust system may indeed be too narrow for the increased airflow generated by the 100cc conversion kit. This can create back pressure and cause a rattling sound. Consider upgrading to an exhaust system designed to handle the increased volume of exhaust gases.
      Loose Components: Check for loose or improperly tightened components within the exhaust system. Vibrations from the engine could cause parts to rattle if they are not securely fastened.
      Heat Shield Issues: Inspect the heat shields on the exhaust system. Over time, these shields can become loose or damaged, resulting in rattling sounds. Ensure that they are properly secured and not in contact with any moving parts.
      Engine Mounts: The rattling noise could be related to the engine mounts. Over time, these mounts can wear out, leading to increased engine movement and vibrations. If the engine is not properly secured, it can cause rattling sounds. Inspect the mounts and replace them if necessary.
      Other Factors: There could be other factors contributing to the rattling sound, such as loose bolts or brackets in other areas of the scooter. It's a good idea to conduct a thorough inspection of the scooter, paying attention to any components that may be loose or showing signs of wear.
      If you're unsure about the exact cause of the rattling sound, it's advisable to consult with a mechanic or an experienced scooter technician. They will be able to examine the scooter more closely and provide a more accurate diagnosis based on their expertise. Thank you for watching my video

      @VirberelloScooterTips  11 месяцев назад

      @@veowav A loose bolt or nut in the transmission and a metal-on-metal scratching sound from the CVT could potentially indicate a mechanical issue that needs attention.
      The cost of the repair will depend on various factors such as the extent of the damage, the make and model of your scooter, the labor rates of the repair shop, and the availability and cost of replacement parts, if needed.
      Sometimes, loose bolts or nuts can be a simple fix that won't cost much. However, if the issue has caused damage to other parts, or if any components need to be replaced, it could be more expensive. CVT issues can also vary in complexity and cost to repair.
      If you ear a bolt or nuts sound inside the CVT you could have a broken clutch or broken roller weights for a clutch they will charge you around 200 dollars for a new variator with rollers they will charge you around $140 to replace

    Help my gy6 have a whirring noise. When I try to start it. And I just replaced the Bendix with a new one. But still won't start. Just whirring

    • @VirberelloScooterTips
      @VirberelloScooterTips  5 месяцев назад +1

      It seems like you're experiencing an issue with your gy6, and despite replacing the Bendix, you're still encountering a whirring noise without the engine starting. There could be several reasons for this problem:
      Starter Motor Issues: The whirring noise may be coming from the starter motor. Check if the starter motor is functioning properly and if there are any loose connections.
      Battery Voltage: Ensure that your battery has enough voltage to crank the engine. Low battery voltage can result in a whirring noise without starting.
      Starter Clutch: The starter clutch engages the engine when starting. If it's faulty or damaged, it may not be transferring power properly, leading to the whirring noise.
      Engine Seizure: Check if your engine is seized. If the engine cannot turn freely, the starter motor will produce a whirring noise without successfully starting the engine.
      Ignition System: Problems with the ignition system, such as a faulty spark plug or ignition coil, can prevent the engine from starting.
      Fuel Delivery: Ensure that there is proper fuel delivery to the engine. Clogged fuel lines or a malfunctioning fuel pump can lead to starting issues.
      It's recommended to systematically check each of these components to identify the root cause of the problem. If you're unsure about any of the checks or if the issue persists, it might be advisable to consult a professional mechanic or seek assistance from a gy6 community for more specific guidance on your scooter model

    OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!! REALLY!!!!!!!!!
    I have had this squeaking noise driving me absolutely crazy.....
    I been having problems with exhaust because when I first got new scooter, muffler didn't come with the brackets to secure it and I didn't have a clue so... first problem I had was manifold bolts broke off inside the motor... got one out but other one... well... let's just say I drilled it out but it too big for the bolt so Its attached with 1 good bolt, a shady one and got some JB Weld Xtreme Heat and layered it on like mortar between gasket and manifold lol....
    The new brackets I put on muffler popped off taking the manifold bolts with it again so I redid my "ducktape fix" and then the SQUEAK that would only SQUEAK when I was riding it.... and I thought it was the muffler bracket bolt squeaking or muffler rubbing the post......
    NOPE!!!!!! It was the SAME squeak that drove YOU crazy. The kick start rubbing the center stand...... I even took EVERYTHING out of my seat storage box trying to find it.... lol
    Personally I would have started the video with this "noise" because it's the only sound/noise that sounds "important" but nothing to do with the mechanical workings of anything. The rest were all noises that happen when "bad" things happen lol.
    I bet I could watch 100 "other" videos of people explaining "wierd noises" and not see anyone point out this squeak that will drive you BONKERS!!! lol

      Hello my friend I try to click on the video but I can not see anyway
      The noise you're describing on your gas scooter could be caused by a few different issues. Some common causes of a high-pitched noise that increases with speed include:
      Loose or worn drive belt: The drive belt connects the engine to the transmission and if it's loose or worn, it can create a high-pitched noise when the scooter is in motion.
      Worn or damaged bearings: If the bearings in the wheel hubs or transmission are worn or damaged, they can create a high-pitched noise when the scooter is in motion.
      Worn or damaged gears: If the gears in the transmission are worn or damaged, they can create a high-pitched noise when the scooter is in motion.
      Worn or damaged chain: If the chain is stretched or damaged, it can create a high-pitched noise when the scooter is in motion.
      Worn or damaged variator rollers or sliders: The variator is responsible for adjusting the transmission ratio and if the rollers or sliders are worn or damaged, they can create a high-pitched noise when the scooter is in motion.

    • @VirberelloScooterTips
      @VirberelloScooterTips  Год назад +1

      Based on your description, it's possible that the noise you're hearing is coming from the motor or the bearings on the stator side. Some possible causes of this noise could include:
      Worn bearings: Over time, the bearings in a motor can wear out and cause a grinding or rattling noise. This can be caused by a lack of lubrication, exposure to contaminants, or general wear and tear.
      Loose or damaged parts: If there are loose or damaged parts in the motor, they can cause vibrations and noise. This could include anything from loose screws or bolts to damaged fan blades or rotors.
      Electrical issues: Problems with the electrical components of the motor, such as a loose or damaged wire, can also cause noise. This could be a buzzing or humming sound, or a popping or cracking noise.
      Stator core issues: A damaged stator core could also be the source of the noise. This could be caused by a variety of issues, including overheating, moisture damage, or physical damage to the core.
      or you could have a damaged starter clutch and for the gas leak at cvt you need to remove the cover and see and that can leak from the lower part of the carb area . Thank you for watching my video
