In game 2 between Rubin and Nelson, Brad played Atarka and Steve played Avacyn in response. Then Brad burned off Avacyn and 2 plants with Fall of the Titans/Pyromancers Googles. Why would Avacyn and the plants die? Avacyn's enter the battlefield ability makes creatures you control indestructible (including herself right?), I was really confused when I saw this. Did the judges miss this? I I guess it doesn't matter because Rubin still won that game but I just want an explanation.
+Austin Leach Triggered abilities. While the indestructibility trigger is still on the stack, brad can burn the angel and plants while it is still vulnerable.
How about a different play at 22:58? I was thinking 1 copy of fall of titans target hangerback walker and nissa, another one target nissa and whatever, a plant for example. The next turn avecyn will flip and kill all rubin's tokens and also nissa is left at 1 loyalty. I feel like this alternative play kinda loss to another copy of avecyn. But besides that, a single 6/5 flyer is a lot less threatening than all those tokens given the potential ormendahl incoming. Even in case of another avecyn, Steve is forced to tap out and flash it in, and in the next turn, you get to do the same thing again with whatever burn spell in hand.
In this situation Rubin could activate Westvale Abbey during his own upkeep and have a hasty indestructible lifelinking flier. So Brad's play was probably safer than that :) you could kill one more token and leave Nissa at 3, though.
i think that desicion at 23 min to kill avacyn with fall instead of cracking the hangar back, putting nissa to 1, and forcing avacyn to kill his own board was the big mistake of the game. Avacyn is so powerful on her front side that people both dont abuse her back side- on both sides of the table. Like Rueben would have been left with command that cant do anything, a 6/5 that cant attack into an 8/8, and nissa at 1, so it cant make counters, it puts Brad into top deck mode just with a contained board and a shit load of time.
If Brad had put Nissa to one and killed hangarback, he could have killed at most one other creature, leaving Rubin with 5 to create Ormendahl on his upkeep.
Sorry Brad. Was rooting for you. Of the decks that are good against Bant Company and Humans yours seemed to be the worst against the rest of them. Though you didn't draw all that great. That last game was won but Rubin drew into Gideon, Avacyn, Declaration. Runner, runner, runner
+defilord did you miss the Wizards announcement? There isn't anymore promising players because it's no longer viable to play this game at the pro level
Whats wrong with Nelson? I thought it was just he's Tshirt, maybe a rash or something but it's not. He CONSTANTLY keeps pulling down he's tshirt. Like non stop, he grabs at he's chest by the tshirt and pulls it down. I thought it was just here, prob a itchy or sticky shirt. But after watching other interviews and stuff from different places he always does it. is it just me or does Rubin have one of those heads? Do you know what i mean? Rubin was carried COMPLETELY by his Deck, and his draw vs other decks with his particular deck. They actually need to stop ALL plainswalkers, All legendaries and all stuff like Westvale Abbey, Those silly Dragons and stuff like Ruin Processor etc. It's ridiculous you only have 20 health, and Westvale Abby hitting your for like 9 and Ruin Processor hitting you for 7 or 8 per round. Just do tournaments with Rare and below. I mean guys playing with 4 plainswalkers, others with dragons just sucking up Creatues and life. Silly. Dragon Lord A-bullshit, Dromoka's command. Westvale, Thing in the Ice, ALL of those types of cards need to go. Why can't people just play with normal damage, normal function cards? having players playing with cards with 3 extra functions + damage + defence, plus spawning tokens and clues etc just takes the fun out of the game. One dragon comes into play and immediately you're in trouble, one westvale goes into play and you're immediately in trouble, one plainswalker etc
David Guyette Scrub Lords... "only" commons... "who can/t afford good cards"... are you actual typing these words? Have you even been born yet? Nantuko Husk... Used in most expensive decks, 0.11c, read the bones, 0.20c... plenty of commons. fucking hell i can't believe there are people like you that are allowed to live past birth

Lots of great decks in this Standard
wow how long it took for "the goggles do nothing" pun getting pulled out in this top 8.
shameless and fearless well done Ian... lmao

I love seeing (enter text here) or similar phrases scroll along the bottom every now and then. XD
love to Brad! building his deck
55:19 - Just a salty button.
Why didn't Seth -6 to kill Luis a turn earlier?
+JaceMTG sorin only hits creatures or planeswalkers
Brad you did great !!!

Seth vs Luis is pretty much Duel Decks: Sorin vs Nahiri :)
pero mira como esta esa bandera argentina papa!! se me pianta un lagrimon!
dang after such a great draft too. sorry Brad buddy
Such a pity to see both decks going 3-0. I would have liked to see a little more magic and the Goggles decks just deserve at least 1 win.

+ScrapperTBP Draws mattered a lot, but Rubin is still a great, promising player.

It's a psychological tick brought on by weight-sensitivity.

I agree versing planeswalkers is pretty challenging
