    Reid wins the pro tour finals in three games after all these years, and the first thing he says to his opponent is “sorry about the mulligans you had”. Reid is a stand up guy and more than deserved the win. GG

      ​@@JankyDice96 That was not luck. Benton mulliganed super aggressively for the perfect Scout opener, shipping very playable 7 on game 2. We don't see his mulligan decisions on game 3 but it's probably what happened as well.

    I know Reid is a big deal to the community and everything, but I don't think enough people are giving Benton credit for making it this far. And all while using a deck that very few people are using rn. It's really impressive

      Yeah they were tripping all over themselves to give him props all weekend. 8-0 day 1, into this finish. With a 3 person team (2 of whom top8’d) they highlighted his keen familiarity with the format and reid’s deck. Reid won, but Benton impressed way more people this weekend. We know what Reid can do, we’ve seen it before.

      ​@@briancavanaugh1596deck selection is as much a game as deck piloting. If anyone could have put on a propeller hat and had an Auras deck cart them to the finals, why didn't more people choose it? Clearly he did something different, whether in the testing process or in the games themselves.

    Benton mulling for the Gladecover Scout is correct. Creativity has a lot of interaction and a hand that looks "keepable" is actually useless because of how quickly it gets torn apart.

      Yeah, we can see it in action game 1. On a mull to 5, he almost won and Reid was on the backfoot the whole time, and only won because he drew 3 copies of Fable. That "playable" 7 on game 2 would have been destroyed had he kept it.

    This game felt somewhat poetic, with Reid winning a world championship using a combo/control deck vs. auras, Shenhar is smiling somewhere in the world.

      that game 1 win even felt like that Worlds finals - Shahar stabilized with timely blocks from Snapcasters and Angels back then, Reid stabilized with Fable-tron here, and then a flurry of calculations, suddenly the tables turned with one combat phase. Gave me proper goosebumps.

    Poor boogles, they always kill you with the mulligans in the finals, Reid lived this vs Shahar Shenhar in the Modern Finals agains a control deck, now he is in the other side, just awesome how incredible this game is

    I met Reid once at a PT in Australia. I was alarmed he was so nice to me despite my randomly saying hello on a day he had real things to do, and surely 30,000 other people also introducing himself. Top tier human of magic.

    i think there is always a big expectation for Duke to win, I mean he has been there before, but Benton did awesome, i think the current structure of the tournaments and how you can get to the pro-tour is more accessible now to those who are really wanting to be on the scene. Good job to both of them!!!!

    So happy to see him win. One of the best content creators, right next to lsv, and so good to hear his thought process and admit mistakes when he rarely makes one. Love that he plays such good decks (elves, jund, grixis control back in the day)

    Great to see Reid win.
    Can we also give credit to Benton for his mulligans? I think he was completely correct in both games one and two with his mulligan decisions given what he knew, and it turns out that he absolutely was given what Reid actually had in hand. It takes guts to play something as all-in as Bogles and mulligan correctly like that.

    Such a great match, awesome energy. Reid was in the zone the whole time, and after the triple fable blocker line stalled Bentons perfect mulligan hand in the first game that was when he could tell he might be having some problems. Props to him for being such a good sport. You know coming in 2nd is a bummer but even playing against a legend in the finals of the pro tour is a real accomplishment.

    When I came here to watch this. I was not expecting the “Marshall” announcer to be the Marshall from Wristwatch revival. IYKYK. Not sure how much crossover vintage watches and magic fans have but that was cool
