Watching an eldrazi deck in the finals, gives me great comfort coz my friend just recently died at 43 years of age and he was an avid eldrazi master in all aspects from pauper to modern to commander. Rest in peace my friend, and know that the blind eternity still lives on.

He uses elemental heroes while i used cyberdragons, then vanguard and finally he started to play mtg with focus on eldrazi. Me i went back to mtg after a 10 year hiatus and started playing standard and modern then focused on edh. We had some epic games against each other
this was WILD to catch live, had me on the edge of my seat. literally stood up and clapped and cheered for jake, even though i was rooting for calcano. excited for worlds!
I just got into MTG two weeks ago, and heard about how amazing these finals were. And i gotta say Beardsley holding the thoughtseize to combo with Dauthi and take Ulamog, and Christian holding the chromatic star to not die to Kroxa was some of the craziest decision making i've seen in my life. I'm so excited as i just start my journey in this beautiful game !
Congratulations to all players from the Pro Tour. They have given us an amazing show. Special congratulations to the eight finalists. My personal admiration to Calcano. His attitude, suffering, having fun but always with lots of respect and sportmanship to the end, clapping and congratulating the winner. A great competitor

They have ongoing series like Unsleeved and Resleevables with the two of them. The most recent episode came out 11 days ago lol. So its not like they moved on or something, they have multiple ongoing projects together and again have been working together and an iconic duo for like my entire life almost lol.

Game 4 - Why are the commentators going on about Jake not saccing the treasures to cast Fable in response to Oblivion Stone? Wasn't the Stone popped in combat, so the mana would disappear anyway?
It's true he can't use the treasure for the fable cast on his 2nd main, but can he use the treasure to activate the mirror breaker that is getting killed by the O-stone?
game 4 was incredible but game 5 was a STINKER. Hate how many of those non-games scam creates, but when its playing more like a normal rakdos midrange deck it creates some sweet games
Love this coverage, but the way this channel uploads and doesn’t even stream is so chaotic. Ruins the suspense and excitement of following the tournament.
The main reason at high level play is to conceal what you've drawn. When you don't shuffle your hand your opponent will know what cards you keep holding and what are the ones you are playing from the top of your deck. Like for example, let's say an opponent thoughtseizes you and sees a lightning bolt, now next turn you top deck another lightning bolt, if you dont shuffle your hand and just play it immediately your opponent will know that you still have one left, if you shuffle your hand first he will probably assume it's the one he saw with thoughtseize. The same is true for cards you expect but dont know according to the deck they're playing and might be holding, over time most skilled players can estimate a range of cards that players could be holding, if your opponent always plays cards without shuffling the hand first you will get a much higher accuracy for reads into your opponents possible hands. So shuffling your hand is a good habit to get into because you want to do it after every draw.
It's a form of stimming. Most mtg players are either on the spectrum, neurodivergent, have anxiety, ADHD, etc. It's a way to give yourself short bursts of sensory stimulation in a tense situation. Also, it feels good...

Doesn't happen every game, Its not good in every matchup and the undying effects become pretty dead topdecks late game. All these factore balances out the upside.
They need to do something to make it easier to see and know the cards on a casual watch, i know people arent fans of watching arena gameplay but paper is actively worse from a spectator perspective
To be clear, for the other 99% of the games played they should be paper for ease comfort and general fun of using your own cards. But for the major main stage feature matches, they should be on arena just for veiwability, ease of interaction, less judgecalls, and general amount of information available to be viewed as a spectator
You cant make this tournament on Arena. Arena is a different Environment with own algorithms and own problems (starting Hand, thoughtseize Bug, set stops and so on...). Magic on Arena is a different game.

Modern is just a fast format! I feel like midrange being good is a sign of a pretty healthy meta, right? And even combo decks know how to get grindy(bear in mind this is coming from a degenerate Hammer player) I agree that it sucks control isn't great right now. Some bans may fix things a bit.

Its more he should have used the treasure to do the Fable copying. That would have left the 3 lands untapped after combat for the fable.
It's true he can't use the treasure for the fable cast on his 2nd main, but can he use the treasure to activate the mirror breaker that is getting killed by the O-stone?
Missing those draws could've easily been the difference between a win and a loss.
Imagine drawing another bolt or something. Potentially huge.
