  • I fix the AC in this 2010 Ford Fusion. It would stay cold for a few seconds then blow hot air. I show you how to determine if its the actuator.

So, here we are, 4 years later, and this video is still helping people. Thanks for that! My AC started intermittently not working, but then stopped completely By following your instructions, it does look like the actuator (and, hopefully not the HVAC control), so I've ordered one from Amazon which will be here in a couple of days. In the meantime, it's still too hot to do without AC, and I noticed that, when I first turned the car on, with the AC set to full, it would start blowing cold, but then fail over to hot. So, I climbed under the steering wheel, cranked up and car, and then disconnected the actuator before it could go hot. VOILA! Took it for a drive and it stayed cold the whole time. Hopefully that will do the trick until the part arrives and I can put it in. Also hope this helps someone else in a similar situation. Thanks again!!

Thanks so much for posting this video! I also have a 2010 Fusion with the exact same problem. It started acting up last summer, but only when it was extremely hot outside. Now, this summer it started doing the same thing until it was doing everytime I use the car... going to blowing hot after a minute of cold air. Don't know about the info/reset thing mentioned below, will have to check into that. What I did do for a temporary fix until I could get a replacement part is this: With A/C on, fan on, and temp adjust set to hot all the way, turn car off for about 10 secs, then start it back up. Like in the video, gradually turn temp adjust all the way cold, and make sure it's blowing good and cold. Then unplug the actuator and it will stay set in the cold position. Ahhhhhh!!!! Nice cold air until you can get around to replacing the actuator.
    Great video! Thx ☺️

Thank you! Your video was extremely helpful. I was having the same problem with my car. I was trying to locate the actuator and couldn’t find it. Thanks again 👍🏻

Before you do anything or buy any parts to resolve a/c drifting from cold to hot .
Check Your Car battery. The car will start up just fine but will not have enough power to run all the electronics properly.

I have a 2010 ford Fusion. My clutch will not kick in on the compressor. Does the air door actuator play apart to keep the clutch form working? Hope you reply, Thanks,

Wtf. I just did this and it worked for me too. This has to be a system issue.

Was the ac clutch engaging/ engaged when you checked it while it was only blowing out hot air? Or was it disengaged?

Is actuator under dashboard on 2010 ford focus se?

So mine didn’t blow cold for a second it just doesn’t get cold. I used stop leak, no visible leaks. Used AC Pro to recharge, it held pressure, didn’t get cold. Is it the compressor?

It will get hot at the heat setting. But when I get to cold notch by notch it gets cooler but not as cool as it should. It’s a 2010 Ford Focus DE

This is most likely an easier more likely to work fix.

*WARNING: watch this user’s follow up video*
It is hugely irresponsible for you to keep this content public after the “fix” which you demonstrate here proved wrong after a day. I just wasted about an hour of time and about $50 on the part (blend door actuator for air temperature blending), only just like you to find that the real problem lies in the control module.
It is plain sad that you would not even take the time and care to take this video down or at least include the updated information in the video’s description. What you learned a day later, when the AC failed again, rendered this video at best useless.
