I’ve spent a lot of money on a casetify case for my iPhone 12 pro, and bought some apple accessories, but I didn’t get this or the magcase. Something just told me to wait...I’m glad I did.
@@holygrailrose it’s not bad he’s wrong
You must be the only adult that still does this. Who gives a fuck if you were the first one to watch a dumb video
@@michaelstyer7541 😂👍🏼

Every Content Creator: Wait that’s illegal
😂😂😂
Hahah. They just don’t have anything else better to talk about. They make a small thing into a huge issue and ruin it for everyone else. Go live your life, there more things to worry about than ring gate. Like I dunno not getting COVID 19 maybe?
Yeah... I was thinking this "not safe" was like samsung note 7 not safe....
MagSafe is not safe, hilarious 😂
Obviously slow charging
Wireless charging is not safe
The ring doesn’t bother me on the case, but I definitely won’t be using magsafe without the case
Exactly , a case will get scratches anyways , and it’s easier to replace.
Still awful especially for their 60 dollar case
Eh. It looks kinda good on the case to me
Better to buy the Otterbox MagSafe case, cuz it’s otterbox you can file a issue claim online even a year after you buy it and otterbox will send you a free replacement case
@@bryanmiller476 thanks for that info i will check that one out
This has been an eye opener. Thanks bro
Well, it's obvious that the whole point of MagSafe is that it sticks on the back of your phone, and if people dont like that functionality and wished it worked differently, it's easy to buy a simple wireless charger that dont have a magsafe feature to just place the phone on it and pick it up without the charger sticking to the back of your phone! And there are 2 meters charging cords that's easy to buy from Apple and many other companies!
Wait.. you know MagSafe cable isn’t removable right?
@@ShevonSalmon Yes, but you can plug your Magsafe to an extension that plugs to the wall!
@@oOLinxyOo imagine me doing that
@@ShevonSalmon thats why iphones suck.....everything is money money and low quuality.
@@misaelmuniz7418 Lmao low quality? Yeah okay bud.
Excellent job on this. I'm so glad I found this video. You're very thorough.
Love your content! 😊
Nice video very informative now I’m thinking twice if I will buy MagSafe ... one love 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Excellent video with very legitimate critiques, ESPECIALLY the file transfer issue for when Apple removes the charging port. I still use music files, NOT a streaming service. If I can’t get these files from my iTunes to the Music app, I’m going to climb a clock tower.
Wireless charging is still a long way from being a legit replacement to regular charging. MagSafe, as illustrated by the comments in this video, is further proof of this reality. No one should have MagSafe ring wear on a thousand dollar device, or on its case. No one should have to physically remove a charger from a supposedly wireless charging apparatus. Wireless charging IS the future, but at this point in the game, what are we really gaining? Also, Apple has been selling cords that have been too short since day one. It’s obnoxious.
I just for the first time applied the MagSafe puck to my new iPhone 12. The magnets are not too vicious, it is possible to apply it to the phone gently.
I’m glad u said something cause I was gonna get it once I get my 12 pro max
Did you not get it? I did. Its my main charging method😂 depending on my case ofc, mostly all allow magsafe. Second method is when I’m using apple carplay.
bro my i refuse to charge my phone with a plug anymore. magsafe all the way. is it slower? yeah. is it gimmicky? obviously. is it cool? cool as hell. do i care about potential damage? not because i got the white silicone case and ill never see it. do i think it can actually scratch the back of my phone permanently? the fuck? aluminum at a hardness of 4 is not scratching glass that llitterally shaves copper off of pennies. all in all, i think magsafe is cool, and if you can afford it then why not- it makes for a much higher quality of life.
@@jackatlas4094 ummmm. Thats an issue. Talk to apple support....
You make good videos. Respect. Regarding the iphone 12 series, it sucks big time. No 120hz, small battery, same camera as last year with only software improvements (only the max model has better hardware).
Awesome video dude
You can get an extension wire for the mag safe to make it longer but still it would be better if it was just a long in the first place but there are options.
Dude this video makes so much sense. Super valid points, loved it!
Technically, in the article you showed us Apple warns us against placing credit cards, etc, BETWEEN the MagSafe and the iPhone, not just near it. You can see that there’s a big difference. Having magnets DIRECTLY ABOVE AND BELOW your credit card, magnetically locked to one another with electric energy flowing between them is very different than just being near a magnet. I am not an expert and do not work for Apple, but probably the magnetic snap-on wallet is safe enough. Just don’t put your credit card BETWEEN the wallet and the iPhone!
I agree, this warning is written on all Qi. chargers: don’t place metal objects or magnetic cards between the phone and the charger during the charge process. That’s all, and it’s so logical and obvious !
i agree with everything you mentioned in this video... If i have a spigen thin case (not magsafe case version) will my phone still stick to the magnetic car mounts? like the dashboard or vent mounts? or do i need a magsafe case to make it stick? thank you to anyone who can help
Good information, not sure if I want the iPhone now!
Idk why people are complaining about magsafe, it’s literally supposed to stick to the back of your phone. Buy a non magsafe qi charger if you don’t like that😂😂
Periodt.
People say it charges slower lol
Exactly
Your just nit picking
hello!, so from your point of view wich wirless charging is better for iPhone 12pro, also thinking about that speed charge damage life battery, my old 11pro max I used to charged with apple cube20w and cable , and my battery was 85% after a year
im only buying this tomorrow cause that SUPER satisfying sound it makes when it clicks to the phone then the charging sound it makes right after is amazing and plus im super deep in the apple ecosystem that it only makes sense to buy this product so why not right if it damages my phone I have Verizon total mobile protection so im all set.
I found a way to fix the white ring the charger leaves. Just put a sticky-note in between the phone and the charger. Works like a charm
its safe lol, especially if u buy it for less and save some money :D
Agreed
No it’s bad for your battery health. Your battery degrades very fast with this type of charging. If you use apple brand charger and cable your battery will last a lot longer
@@thecollinzboy Can you prove that?
@@thecollinzboy but MagSafe is apple branded...
Timothy
.......
dude you don’t know anything I’m talking apple brand wall chargers. MagSafe is a fast charging wireless charger that degrades the battery health faster than the wall adapter does. You don’t know the technology behind wall adapters and MagSafe. MagSafe is a lot better than 3rd party cables and 3rd party wall adapters but nowhere near as good as apple wall adapters
I’ve had the silicone case for my old phones and I’ve gotten them damaged so I just take them to the apple store and get it replaced. I’m guessing it’s the same still for the cases made for the 12s.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for this video I’ve literally just cancelled my magsafe charger I don’t want that happening to my phone
😜
And the length Lmao
U really shouldn’t have her dosent know whst he’s talking on
3:24 it’s actually just unsafe if you put that stuff between the charger and the phone. So should be easy to avoid unless you have a case with slits for your cards, then you might need to think about it. But who buys the puck combined with that kinda case? Solid points though otherwise.
I was looking at MagSafe, then realised my current Qi charging setup does all I require. I generally charge overnight, so the ‘faster’ charging of MagSafe is not required. I did not know about the problem with scratching - that is informative
Mag safe chargers do not charge faster than Qi chargers unless you by the Apple 45Watt adapter.
AT&T has this MagSafe charger on sale for 30% off.
I think Apple will enforce iTunes wifi sync aka wireless debugging mode.
Are you using anker usb c pd power bank, anker Nano ac adapter or charger?
Good job pointing this out thanks bruh🙏🏼👍🏼
MagSafe is the best thing I brought it charges my iohone12 from 0-%50 within 30 or 35minutes
My usb c to lightning charges in 20 to 50%. I use the iPad Pro brick. Flawless.
These are such. Non issues! I use the leather case and yes, right after the charge I see a slight ring. But it eventually goes back to normal. As for silicone cases... I don’t know I don’t use it. But here’s some advice. Get a wet cloth and wipe it off.
I frigging love my mag safe. But I’m coming from an iPhone 7+ phone that had a loose charging port. THAT was slow charging.
When I’m in bed using the MagSafe charger I can position the cable so it is out of the way. Can’t do that with a regular charging cable and port. I think the pro’s outweigh the cons.
Good for you man
But you can also use apple’s clear magsafe case to prevent the magsafe mark
does the rhinoshield case work with magesafe?
Any notable damage/observations with charging using the MagSafe clear case?
I dont Think. It’s already showing the ring 😂 but do you know if it’s closed from bottom like the sillicone? It’s Hard for me to see
Cem Ali Filikci Yes, aside from the corners, it is completely open. Drop test?
@@willvee1282 no 😂 i wish. Is my new phone. But thank you. So it’s open from bottom.
Hey man what do you do for a living?
Fantastic video
Shevon, I just read that Backtap *CAN* be used while MagSafe is attached. Can you confirm?
Do you know any cases that can cancel out the magnet, or so the magnet has no affect
when we do deeper research on the so-called fast charging, literature tells that faster puts more stress on the battery (with current technology). i'm not a fanboy btw, z fold4 user
I understand this is their solution to go away from the lightning cable and not use USB-c but it seems like a very tedious aggravating way to charge your phone I have the iPhone 12 black 128 gig But some of my favorite cases won’t be compatible with it so I’m not sure it’s something I’m heavily concerned about at the moment great video though
Yup, anything with a pop socket is a no go. Those things are useful too!
Do what I did, I put a piece of felt over the pad, and not scratches....worked perfectly...
Why should you have to fix Apples product? You can buy a regular Qi charger and not worry about the damage at all.
Damn thats bad the fact that it charges slow and now this omg bro
Brandon Vlogs it’s faster than most current wireless chargers isn’t it?
Userd MagSafe on my 12 pro yesterday it left the same ring on my silicone case had to run it off a little. Not worth the money and it charges my phone slower much more interested about how companies will make MagSafe car mounts
I was concerned about the RFID. That’s not good Apple. The nerve, “just be careful.” I use the 20w charger. It’s fast. I love it. Even though I won’t be using the mag charger just the other day I ordered 2 skins from Skinit. I just like to protect my phone period. I just traded my IPhone Xs for the 12 and the guy at Apple was wowed by how new my phone looked. I always use a case but I also like to use the skins as extra protection especially since they are glass. I liked the size of that phone. This one is a little bit bigger but I needed more gigabytes that one was only 64. With Apple everything changes. You always have to purchase new accessories because the size of the phones always change. I have a Love Hate relationship with Apple.🤣
2:17 How u shake it lol idk why but ever person who shake it so far the phone call off and ur stays on idk if some iPhones or chargers was defected but it’s definitely something to look for
My decision of buying iphone this year is getting less and less as days are passing by seeing so many issues with iphone: Battery life , magsafe issue, weak glass on back, colors degradation from coloured stainless steel borders, no charger , type c to lightning cable. No major update from previous iphones. Apple is losing the vision.
well about the battery, I got one of this phones last week (13 pro max) and the battery life is great, lasts longer that my old s10+, so at least it's a upgrade for me :o
Glad to know. Getting a wood backed case.
The clear cover is good but thank you. I would buy that instead if i should.
Does it workshop with iPhone XR ?
It’s $99 to replace the back if you have Apple care insurance, they can’t fix the back at Apple, it’s a unit replacement
If u buy a Velcro patch and put the soft side on the bottom of MagSafe and rough patches anywhere u want to mount it it works both as MagSafe and a normal wireless charger + u can wall mount ur phone now! ... edit lol just now seeing this was recommended 😰
They don't say it shouldn't be close to the magsafe. They say u shoudn't charge the phone through a card that is also UNDER the magsafe and on the phone
What’s that charging dock thing at 6:47 ? That looks clean!
It’s from Logitech
@@ShevonSalmon thank you so much! Also love your videos! ❤️
I just like the sound it makes when wirelessly charge
I don’t understand why they do just keep the charger part on it like we want that anyway like it’s not eve that big of a deal I thing it’s better to keep the charger part on the I phones ❗️ and it’s easier to use
Are you connecting it directly to a power outlet on a wall? Because mine reaches 15 watts using the recommended 20 watts adapter from Apple & Anker.
That statement you just made has been prove to be false.
My charger is already shipping🙄 is there any way I can return it when it arrives??
Yeah Apple is easy to ship back returns
So does magsafe degrades batery in the long run? My goal was using magsafe to save the charging port wear but maybe its even worse using magsafe? Anybody knows?
Update on ring gate with apple cases and magsafe wireless charging after a year?
Ty
This may be a dumb question but will there be phone damage if I use the MagSafe silicone case itself without using the magsafe charger and Only use the brick for charging?
No, it’s the MagSafe charger that damages the case. This is exactly why I don’t plan on using the MagSafe charger.
From 2022 they have been ordered to move to USB type c for charging. But they brought magsafe so they can remove port for future models.
OH MY THANK YOU!!!!
*guess i’m not buying the “magsafe” charger anymore*
Does it affect battery life?
Mans said magnetic field 😭😂
The magnetic fields can damage old outdated and insecure mag strips but not RFID or chips. So that is probably why Apple was fine about introducing a MagSafe wallet.
Sounds like to me Apple needs to get some refunds going.
Magnets may be attached to it? MagSafe may work on the iPhone itself?
Nobody can complain because in the photos of every Magsafe case Leather / Silicon, there are pictures of what happens to the case overtime from the Magsafe charger.
It’s also a fire hazard the ring gets extremely hot when not using the mag charger.... I had a thermal incident where the phone overheated tremendously Shut itself off while only being 55 charged.... I don’t trust it any longer in the wireless charging cradle of my car
Can magsafe dmage cameras ??? on iphone 14 pro max ?? its very close when i pick up
First of all I’d rather use the MagSafe then plug it in THEN the charging port is messed up . Hope ya have insurance, and if ya have OCD buy multiple cases . That mark is from the heat … great video
Funny how people are complaining that their cases are getting damaged. The purpose of a case is to prevent the phone from getting damaged. Which means the case will take the damage. Cases aren’t pretty anyways.
I’m just looking for something to throw my phone on at night to get a full charge in the morning, plus this thing will damage the leather case
I enjoy MagSafe. Idc what anyone says I think it is an amazing way to charge your phone, and plus, it doesn’t require a cable going straight to your phone, which means that it can charge in what I say, a better way.
It also only on the silicone case I have the apple leather case and I’ve never experienced this spigen is cheap as well
Is it fine on the clear case?
Yes it’s fine in clear case
That MagSafe crap is just good for doing DIY chargers. Works almost well for a car mount that servers as a charger as well.
Has a one problem but not because it exists but because of heat. That’s why it melts slowly silicon case and also itself of white colour. Was trying to see, if it heats but probably it heats pretty much just like every other wireless charger.
One more thing more W on charger doesn’t mean it charges faster. I was hoping they found something new and what I can buy in future so I can be happy even, if I have two wireless charging stuff I can charge on.
What camera do u use
Sony a6400
Bro I keep commenting but dude, I grab my phone and flick MagSafe off with one hand, it looks like it comes off so easily lol
So it was a good idea that I am going to be modifying my case to allow my android phone to use magsafe?
Also a USB C extension cable would help the cable length issue.
Isn't the magsafe wallet magnetically shielded?
It is
i agree with everything you said
Mous makes a desk/wall mount and stand for the MagSafe
Did your iphone has the ring on the back when using the magsafe charger?
It gets really hot while idle if plugged in to a fast charger.
I wish there was a non magsafe option where you could opt in on a slightly bigger battery with the loss of the magnetic charging.
What?
same here
No wonder why my hotel key got disabled FOUR times! Cuz held the room key and my iPhone 12 pro with the same hand, and i guess it wiped my room key.
My biggest concern is that I charge my iphone on the top of my pc case, and I'm worried that the magsafe will damage the motherboard if I stick the phone anywhere else on the case. How is this even legal what Apple is doing?
I feel like a lot of people are complaining about little things with the MagSafe. The ring inprint on the phone/case I can understand but stuff like not been able to use the phone whiles its charging or how fast it charges isnt THAT big of a deal. If I switch back to iPhone next year and get the magsafe id use the magsafe when going to bed charge it over night that way. If I needed it to charge faster just plug it in normally
Yeah but you have to remember Apple is selling us a $55 charger that performs worst than a $20 charger.. if we don’t be hard on Apple they are just going to keep selling us sh!t for high prices
@@ShevonSalmon True but people dont have to buy the chargers and cases from apple there are a ton of good third party options out there. But people wont give em a chance cause it not from Apple. As for the price this is nothing new apple always charge more for what they put out
@@davidcoady next year , it's already expected they will get rid of the charging port altogether, magsafe will be the only option. In its current state not good enough. Apple need to hear about it
@@gucciv1 Why bother putting type C cables in it if they are just gonna get rid of the charging port then? And wont be the only option you have. Third party companies will make other products you can use
@@davidcoady Dude they've just given us a phone without a charger, anything is possible.
As for 3rd party , ya sure but the average consumer is going to trust apple rather than some random company on eBay/Amazon

I’ve been using the anker wireless charger and does not give me that problem.
this might be a dumb question but do you guys think laying your phone on the screen (with a case on) while using magsafe will cause this as quickly or harshly? there would less pressure on the magsafe itself so idk!! what do
y’all think?
I found that putting my phone screen down mitigated the case ring and helped dispose the heat as well. I had noticed my battery health degrading quickly, until I flipped my phone upside down over night. And now I have zero issues with the charger or the battery.
I also use a Rokform case that has a hardcore magnet on the back, so it’s lined up absolutely perfectly every time.
You are so right. Thanks for warning. I returned the Magsafe charger, the brick and the cover for my iPhone 12 mini. As I was warned before I used the items I did get a full refund. Now I use the lightning cable connected to a 20W brick. It charges faster. You could even warn that many wireless chargers don't work anymore as they detect metal between the charger and the iPhone.
So far so good. But I like to add that it is impossible to leave a customer's review on the site of Apple. What is wrong with this company?
Steve Jobs would have tried it himself and sent these highly paid technicians back to the drawing table. According to his biography he would have exploded with anger if he saw how fast this faulty product was presented to him. They probably think that the customer will buy every new product as long as it is expensive.
Sorry, I had to get this off my chest.
