Right? I was looking at one this past weekend- $5k markup which apparently is "very low compared to other kia dealerships" and a $600 'paint protection' package that we add to all of our new vehicles as soon as they roll off the truck". I'll pass..
Idk how dealers can just markup a vehicle like that. But if people are willing to spend that much it'll be priced that much. Eventually dealerships should be removed entirely.

Not really offroad ish... I had the 2021 Telluride and I still had to put a 2" levelling kit and bigger tires for more ground clearance. Kia is still sleeping and need to put a proper package like how TRD does the Tacoma.
I wouldn’t buy one because Kia reliability is horrible. It does look great and they’ve def got a hit on their hand. One thing that’s always bugged me about captain chairs is that if you’re using all 3 rows, the storage behind 3rd row is small. So if you needed to hold 5 people for a trip and had a lot of luggage, you’d have to use the third row since you don’t have enough seats.
Such a great vehicle ruined by a horrible dealer network. Seems like every Kia dealer I’ve been to has a dozen chain smoking ex-cons as their sales guys and a big sign that says 2nd chance financing available
By the way when you have alot of leg room for the second row you can forward it to make some room for the third row if you want. I saw alot of reviewers get into the third row without mentioning this information or showing that to the viewers. This makes difference for the buyers who change their decision just for this info.
Is there anything with similar features & capabilities in the $55-65,000 range available from the Germans? I hear that Kia/Hyundai's driver aids (lane following, cruise etc) are amongst the best. True?
I remember seeing some videos showing if you take the Kia/Hyundais off road in slightly rough stuff the transmissions overheat easily and go into limp mode?
Those were the dual clutch systems where it was basically slipping the clutch offroad. This is an old school slush box. This should be pretty reliable with a big lumbering, non-turbo V6 and the old school transmission. The 4 cyls in the other Hyundai and Kia products are the ones having issues.
@@trletts - some 4 cylinders. Many come out with a true 6 speed automatic as well. The Hyundai Santa Cruz is one that has both. The high output motor is hooked up to the dual clutch. The lower non turbo motor is hooked up to the 6 speed.
Have a 2022. Glad I got it and didn't wait. I love the orange DRL's and the traditional gauge cluster. The screens are flashy and cool but I can imagine the screens being an issue before the engine and transmission.
Screens are sold as a premium feature but in reality it is cheaper to program a Chinese screen than it is to design and manufacture real gauges and switches.
Some trendy buzzwords and unpainted black plastic don't really mean much Kia... literally anyone with a Telluride can swap the tires and essentially have the same thing without the goofy name or markups 🤦
I feel “the people” take to literal when manufacturers say it’s “off roady”. I feel people expect them to outperform a jeep or be as capable. But at the same time manufacturers should say it’s “soft off road” gravel or dirt paths and so on it’s obvious no one will take this mudding or rock crawling or steep up hill with loose dirt. It’s an suv for a family. It’s capable to drive on dirt snow mud to get to your cabin or farm house that’s all.
Where did you get the information that Kia was going to increase production of Tellurides up to 120,000 units? Good news, but I hadn’t heard that anywhere else yet. I guess you had the scoop!
Ahh… the videos of these off road on mild trails and dirt roads show wheels with traction not getting power and wheels with no traction spinning like crazy. Might be previous models, but color me skeptical. I’ve yet to see one with functional 4x4 drive. Toyota’s are awesome but they cheat with anti-lock brake application.
Its a Kia lol, they literally don't have a single "offroad" capable vehicle. Not a single thing they make has a low range or actual 4x4.. they're just softy crossovers that can go to the beach ⛱️ big whoop
I love the look and gimmicks (not in a bad way) of these, but unfortunately they don't have any actual off road capability and their transmissions aren't HD at all, similar to Honda and their pilot. It's really too bad that their isn't a hybrid option, 20mpg for a 2023 vehicle is silly

Too much electrification mandate may hay hidden agenda of tracking, and control from there to follow. It's not just catching driver off guard while driving.
I understand why auto manufacturers put a 3rd row in a midsize SUV. But I laugh every time an adult tries to squeeze in there. As far as I’m concerned, save the third row for the Suburbans and Sequoia’s. Just make sure that the second row has plenty of legroom and everything behind it should be a nice flat area for cargo. The third row is borderline pointless because kids don’t stay small for long.
Owned a Kia product once, couldn’t get rid of it quick enough. Absolute Garbage !! Purchased a Honda and can easily say we are never buying a Kia or Hyundai product ever again.
Kia got rid of the orange DRLs, the single most liked aspect about the design. Genius. Probably the same genius that decided to build Kias without engine immobilizers.
Still looks good, but this 'off-road' package seems silly to me. It's like the athleisure of SUVs: got the looks, but hardly any of the capability it advertises.
The manufacturers market these as an off roady outdoor adventure vehicle, and people buy into the image, but they really aren't going to get you very far off the beaten path. Mostly just the image of possibly maybe someday you could go camping is what people want.
They always sell vehicles like this in commercials, but I'm guessing fewer than 1% will ever go off roading in those vehicles. It'll mostly be used for running errands and driving to work just like any other vehicle that's on the road.
The commercials are obnoxious. I pay extra to not experience commercials, and I’m used to you all trying to sell stuff in your videos too. But now it’s just extra annoying now. 🤦🏼♂️
It's just the appearance of off road. If that's all you want the Pilot or Pathfinder rugged look models are far better quality. This is still just a Kia.
Higher ground clearance, all-terrain tires and locking center differential is far from rock climbing worthy, but its still more than "just the appearance" of off-road.
I'm surprised these advertisements haven't backfired on them. If I was the person at Kia responsible for loaning out vehicles, I'd be pretty pissed if they played a Nissan advertisement during a segment for one of the vehicles I let them borrow. I wouldn't be surprised if they start getting cut off from press cars.
In-video ads are hustled in tons of videos. The nature of RUclips is ads and the manufacturers understand that. If Kia pays enough, I’m sure they can be the next sponsor
Kia realized too late how bad people want to turn this into a real off-roader. Give Kia credit, they are trying really hard. The reason people want it to be one so bad is the looks and proportions of the Telluride are amazing. Like a Land Cruiser and Land Rover had a baby. Give it real underbody protection and air shocks to give it real ground clearance to turn it more into a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
They are not trying hard. If they did, it would be off-road worthy vs gravel road and maybe some two track worthy. Anything more and you are going to get yourself into trouble. I like Kia, but I’m not going to say they are trying when this is the product they offer. It’s as bad as Honda adding an appearance package to the Ridgeline to call it an off-road model. A Chevy Silverado Trail Boss is trying. A Colorado ZR2, Silverado ZR2,,,,, that’s succeeding.
Looks good. May not be a great deal compared to it's competitors anymore. It's dual sun roof has limited use and mostly you will keep it close, even if you don't want to. Dashboard is a dull large tablet, which will light up once ignition is pressed. Interior material seems to be mediocre at it's best apart from nice looking seats. Second row seats are not child car seat friendly, if 3rd row has occupants. You will need to remove child car seats before 3rd row passengers could get in/out. Boot space looks decent behind 3rd row seats. Slight price advantage may depend on how many of Telluride buyers are getting it at MSRP? Most of the dealerships are asking for price mark ups and few months' of wait time. Jeep Grand Cherokee L overland may be a better choice though pricier with a more efficient engine option, better/proven off-road capabilities with several modes, premium interior, attractive dashboard, huge functional panoramic roof, much better ride quality (quieter/smoother), child car seat friendly 2nd row and several other goodies like adjustable air-suspension etc. etc., and you may find them at MSRP without any dealer options. Telluride has higher reliability than Jeep Grand Cherokee L, as per different rating sites, however we may get betters stats on that in next few years considering Telluride is there for last 4 years only while 'L' is an even newer vehicle, but powertrain is a proven one, and has been on roads for sometime now. Haven't seen any installed Jeep GCs on the shoulder lane so far, therefore may brush off low reliability of Jeep GC Ls. A vehicle may have different performance when you are testing it in wilderness so will have to see how this Telluride behaves in it's off-road avatar. Nice refresh though.
Hope there's easy trails there though that approach looks terrible, wheelbase is long, and departure isn't very good either. Ofc compared to Jeep in the same class with a real 4wd it'll get slapped but even with an AWD, unibody design they could've done way more :(
Electric cars aren’t junk. But they’re unfeasible purely from the reality that building power plants to provide the energy required to recharge them takes decades. Roman was spot on -- The Jeep Grand Cherokee L and Wagoneer are far more off-road capable, with high clearance, rock rails and all. Maybe a bit more expensive?
@@CrumResearch Jeep has priced themselves out of the family market. I guess Chrysler relies on the ancient Durango for that.
@@plmn93 Great point. Hyundai and Kia seem to be priced competitively, by comparison with Jeep. Granted, the Telluride lacks real off-road capability.
My aunty got one of these a few weeks ago in this exact spec same color she replaced her 2020 Telluride which had 163k miles only thing she did to her new Telluride is put wheels from a 2022 SX Prestige as she didn’t want it for off-roading
Jesus,163k in 3 years?!! That's madness, lol!! I barely do 5k a year.
Great looking, good powertrain, excellent interior, and a 100k/10yr warranty. Just too big for me.
You need that long warranty.
Too small for me. The third row seats are nearly worthless.
@@allentoyokawa9068 no recalls other than the tow hitch harness which has been addressed already or you can simply unplug it from underneath the rear bumper. All cars manufactures have recalls btw not just Kia
Not really offroad ish... I had the 2021 Telluride and I still had to put a 2" levelling kit and bigger tires for more ground clearance. Kia is still sleeping and need to put a proper package like how TRD does the Tacoma.
what is difference between 2022 and 2023 model?
Does this year have wireless android auto?
No.
Just looking at it, I would never take it on anything but a mild forest road. Really bad angles
Simply THE best in class
No future unannounced Japanese 3 row suv (except the pilot) can compete even if no one’s seen it yet
Yep I prefer a bench...but Kia won't let me combine a bench seat and towing package for some dumb reason.
Such a great vehicle ruined by a horrible dealer network. Seems like every Kia dealer I’ve been to has a dozen chain smoking ex-cons as their sales guys and a big sign that says 2nd chance financing available
My 2021 sx has a power tailgate. Not added this year
You should still be doing the "Nathan" test for the rear of the vehicle
By the way when you have alot of leg room for the second row you can forward it to make some room for the third row if you want.
I saw alot of reviewers get into the third row without mentioning this information or showing that to the viewers.
This makes difference for the buyers who change their decision just for this info.

Is there anything with similar features & capabilities in the $55-65,000 range available from the Germans? I hear that Kia/Hyundai's driver aids (lane following, cruise etc) are amongst the best. True?
Seriously, Kia is not missing a beat with me. This time round, i just can’t see an angle i don’t like.
I can't wait till I can buy a motorhome and say "Drive to Disney World, or Yosemite or etc etc" THAT WILL BE AMAZING!
I like the review mirror camera. I don't have to awkwardly look at the faces of my passengers in the back seat while using it.
In my opinion Kia is killing it but one thing they don’t know what to make is a steering wheel all the new models have a weird looking steering wheel
Who else wants Roman to wedge himself into the back of an E30 BMW... :)
No spare, no off road.
Some trendy buzzwords and unpainted black plastic don't really mean much Kia... literally anyone with a Telluride can swap the tires and essentially have the same thing without the goofy name or markups 🤦
Skid plates?
No
I feel “the people” take to literal when manufacturers say it’s “off roady”.
It's still twice as much than the 10mpg"s I get from my 02' Mountaineer. I can't wait to one of these. I still got another 2 years before I get there.
@@ddot236 comparing to a 10 year old vehicle? If you are mall crawling it would be great, if off reading? Not so much
I will consider to unsubscribe your channel if you keep putting commercials even for RUclips premium users. The reason we pay for RUclips premium is to avoid the commercials. Let's not be too greedy.
RUclips is likely the greedy one here, everyone else is just trying to keep their head above water relatively speaking.
It pays their bills. Don't you want to be paid, if you have a RUclips channel?
Eggroll

The refresh made the Palisade better looking and the Telluride worse.
Winner Palisade
Same here. Not sure what its suppose to mean (To distinguish off-road from standard, maybe?), but it looks odd.
@@krane15 agreed
This is a great vehicle but I really don't like the new headlight layout. I liked the LED lights on the original. Also, the engine suffers from a lack of low-end torque.
Does it come with a full size spare tire? If not, you can’t call it off-roady.
Does it come with a fire extinguisher at that price? You will need one.
Ha, ha...this one comes with the V6, not the problematic 2.5L.

Looks like the Tartan Prancer from the movie National Lampoon´s Vacation
A car review channel that takes money from Nissan. Not sure about that one.
Every car magazine in history had ads from car manufactures. How is this different?

Great review Roman, thanks.
120,000 is only 10k a month. It is more, but I don't even think that meets current demand
Love the video but when you mentioned about the Toyota hi lander there is also another version and that is a Isuzu hi lander my dad's family car is a Isuzu hi lander it is very capable it does have some problems but very capable and it is a year 2000 hi lander and got discontinued in 2003 I think but nevertheless love the video keep it up
Too much electrification mandate may hay hidden agenda of tracking, and control from there to follow. It's not just catching driver off guard while driving.
Isn't the most obvious competition the Palisade
They are platform mates. The Hyundai is aimed at a little different buyer, but under the skin they share a lot of design elements.
From the outside I think it resembles the Ford explorer......the older ones anyway
Nissan has been making adventure-ready trucks and SUVs for over 60 years. Learn more: tinyurl.com/232rrsuv
Kia got rid of the orange DRLs, the single most liked aspect about the design. Genius. Probably the same genius that decided to build Kias without engine immobilizers.
Roman with that pose is hilarious! Just needs to add backup journalist squatting next to him in thumbnail.
Still looks good, but this 'off-road' package seems silly to me. It's like the athleisure of SUVs: got the looks, but hardly any of the capability it advertises.
I can’t fathom why you’d buy this over the Carnival if you want three rows, people need to get the stick out of their ass with van chassis vehicles
Thankfully no hybrid as that would greatly push a reasonably priced vehicle out of reach for most
Honestly I think the front looks better
The manufacturers market these as an off roady outdoor adventure vehicle, and people buy into the image, but they really aren't going to get you very far off the beaten path. Mostly just the image of possibly maybe someday you could go camping is what people want.
They always sell vehicles like this in commercials, but I'm guessing fewer than 1% will ever go off roading in those vehicles. It'll mostly be used for running errands and driving to work just like any other vehicle that's on the road.
Is the 2023 Kia Telluride reliable?
Its a new car. Come back in a few years.
I wish this wasn’t a three row car.
Ah when u said rear locker I thought wow thats cool and then u said center locker .... lol
The commercials are obnoxious. I pay extra to not experience commercials, and I’m used to you all trying to sell stuff in your videos too. But now it’s just extra annoying now. 🤦🏼♂️
Too bad KIA doesn't know how to make their engines more fule efficent. I will stick to my Toyota Highlander thanks. :)
The fuel economy is really bad for a v6
Everyone in the comments complaining about the nissan commercial doesn’t know how youtube works and are seriously getting trolled badly 😂
Who doesn’t take advertising in the automotive journalism world?
Its a Range Rover without the drama
It’s based off the old Sedona minivan. Not gonna have much off road ability.
If you don't offroad this in Telluride you've failed as car reviewers.
Hope there's easy trails there though that approach looks terrible, wheelbase is long, and departure isn't very good either.
Ofc compared to Jeep in the same class with a real 4wd it'll get slapped but even with an AWD, unibody design they could've done way more :(
Boy do I hate government mandates. 😭🤣
That lower new add on is hideous! line some car collision shop cut the bottom and slap in a silver crown moulding🤦🏻♂️
That is not an all terrain tire. It’s a all season. Period.
