I listen to Bluegrass and Gospel Music on Sunday Night. I am just now watching this. Give Miss Molly Hugs for Me. My Best Friend has a Yorkie named Qtip that is 12 years old and almost Blind, but very loved.
I live in Northern California. No heat for three winters. Why because Pacific Gas and Electric charges outrageous prices for both now. And they had huge profits last year. Cannot afford to fire up the forced air gas furnace beneath the floor of this studio apt. On very cold days I run the gas oven briefly, much cheaper, as it's already within the apartment kitchen so no ducts needed.
Most likely an open neutral and a loose ground. Your tester read 135-V. You may may have an open neutral in the service to the house which is dangerous. The water ground and ground rod bond to the service neutral is very important in that case provided there are no loose connections in the field or improper grounding. Loose connection or bad splice along the way. The lights flickering could be a loose neutral in that circuit common with the boiler ckt. Definitely the right move to leave for liability purposes.
Definetly a ground neutral fault there. I bet the sparks were from the boiler transformer drawing current. A sparky situation. Good call to have an electrician deal with it.
I agree, it is a broken neutral somewhere. Got shocked from a ground in a light and found the light before the one I was working on in the circuit had a disconnected neutral.
Had a call today where there was no pressure coming off the regulator. Just had a delivery not even a month ago. Found both tanks completely empty. Got a delivery and next thing you know. Got the smell of gas coming into the building. Both units bad heat exchangers. Thank god the third unit is still ok 😮 unbelievable tho what I went through to try and get them going only to find out there useless
That arc was no joke. when he shut the breaker and the lights dimmed I knew something was screwy. 1st thing to do is call power company check street side. If all good then get electrician to troubleshoot.
Smart man Steve, even though you know you can fix it if you don't have liability coverage you can lose everything you work for. Homeowners do-it-yourselfers should walk carefully through the tall grass money hungry lawyers and insurance companies willing to look for any excuse to not pay. Change your electrical panel yourself have electrical fire even though its not related to your work the insurance companies will not pay. If you do your own work higher Licensed professional to check it and sign off on your work cheap insurance.
I definitely concur there's a neutral issue... speaking from experience. Definitely wise to "nope" out of that call, hope the customer called in a licensed sparky to get everything fixed right.
The warning sign for this job was when the guy said the boiler hasn't been running for a year and a half. That tells you right off the bat something nutty is going on.
Better to leave the electrical problem to the electrician. As a mechanic when I see a light get brighter when I touch a wire it’s usually a bad connection to ground. Who knows what’s going on with that guys electricity
yeah good call and a good example to the new guys dont try being a hero. don't take on a liability that can come back and bite you in the ass
You know it's gonna be a bad day when things stot ockin' & spockin'!!
Open neutral to outside transformer needs to call the power company or electrician. Main panel is grounding through the boiler.
And you did the right thing walking away from that Steve!
@@ntsecrets Totally.
@@ntsecrets Miss Molly told him to walk away from that friggin' shit show mama.

Could be an open neutral somewhere. That's how they act. Probably loose in the service entrance.

That boiler should be on a dedicated circuit, it shouldn't be on the basement lighting circuit.

“Do you paint houses?” Mafia guy “no I paint cars”
Drug dealer is more like it. Car painters are usually on drugs.
You made the correct decision to refer to electrician.
Yup got cover you're rear that for sure...sounds like guy got whole other set of issue fix before house does burn down from a electrical fire.
My PParents House was built in the 1970's, They started with Electric Heat in the Ceiling. It was not very warm.

you can see it sparking in the conduit to the right 5 min 46 seconds
And now we will never know
He must live by himself guy will live with no furnace, but a woman wants "Heat"😂 Your video's are entertaining and educational Steve ❤!
Smart move to walk away! Hope the guy gets it done asap
Good job Steve!

Great call Steve
Geez running space heaters for a year would out cost the repairs
Surprised guy didn’t burn the house down with the electrical the way it is
Hey Steve and Miss Molly! Workin’ again ya’ll. 👍👍
Good call
You got a sparker mama
Great Video. Thank you for sharing
Howdy Steve and Molly
Jajajaja . I like this diagnostic.
Loose, fried, or disconnected shared neutral. High voltage probably fried out the new stuff as well. Shit show at it's finest.
I though only Philly had roads that bumpy.

It tells you that the guy is broke, now he is really cold. That is what it tells you.
something queer going on...
A short circuit. Scary situation.
Nice Veto Pro Steve
It’s so odd to see all the electrical lines strung on poles above ground.
Hello Steve!

Have you used the trackless this year?
Where's Miss Molly?
This guy calls back I'd be too busy refer him somewhere else
No more tractor content?
He’s got an open neutral somewhere, smart not to get involved. Electrical shitshow, mama!
I bet thah the guy has somenthing "wrong" in the meter.
Looks like a bad neutral. Not good.
Hi

Good move Steve, bail out, hit him with your service call and have the electrician figure out that job! Keep the videos coming 👍 👌 ☝️ 🫵 💥💯
