- Track limits are a MAJOR issue right now in Gran Turismo 7 - so much so that it's hard to take Daily Race leaderboards seriously. Hopefully Polyphony Digital takes note of this and makes some changes before the next update.

Just to everyone who see this and instantly thinks "cheater", it's not the case. I hope everyone can understand that this was done to expose it to get it fixed quicker. It's nothing to with personal gain. Let's try get this fixed guys 🙏
There is a New Record :) But i feel wrong that i done this :) But tomorrow everyone will do this, if they dont patch this issue. So we need to cheat if we dont want to start back of the grid, because almost everyone will cheat from now 😂

It was really fun before this chasing a board that was really tight (I had 1:43.745 before this shit) I want it to go back to a game that is playable. It's better to expose this dumb stuff now and get it fixed quickly :)
@@dairemccormack8205 We will see tomorrow what will happen, but i think for this week they cant fix this. Maybe they can, but there are other problems also, i have horrible fps on Race with 20cars on the grid, its going below 30fps.
Discovered this recently as well on single player mode. As long as you touch some asphalt at some point, you can cut several seconds off times.
In single player there are not penalties from what I recall unless youre in a license or mission, so you can go ape shit and get crazy times during actual races lol.
You can leave the track completely lol. You’ve always been able to cut in single player gran turismo. In this one you won’t get the clean driving bonus though. But in sport mode it is definitely a big problem
I didn't know I could do that, most of the tracks are fairly linear but on chicane and tracks like Daytona you can cut a footballs field length
Single player you can literally cut through most turns. They don't have penalties enabled

I really can't understand why they implement penalties in this way... The time penalty should be implemented only in races, while in qualifying there should be deletion of laps. They used to have that in older GT titles I just can't understand why they decided to change something which has been doing well.
Yes, it's a shame to loose 2 laps for a tiny little mistake but if they don't do that, it's possible to cut the last corner to be faster at the beginning of the qualifying lap. For example, if you cut the last chicane at Suzuka, you will won several tenth of a second.
What about the micro transactions to use real money to buy stuff..
In F1, cut a corner, lap cancelled, simple...

@@gillesgrindel7985 That can be accounted for quite easily: If your current laptime gets invalidated after a certain point, let's say before the chicane, or anywhere in sector 3, your laptime for the next lap gets invalidated as well.
@@gillesgrindel7985 well, in F1 games its not an issue. If you cut last corner your currnet and next laptime get deleted.
Man I remember in GT6 (or was it 5?) when one mistake meant like three laps were invalidated in advance.

Same here. Almost lost my finger tips trying. 1:48 at Daytona which was pole but thought HTF am I supposed to shave 8 seconds and where for these top 10.

It's to discourage actually making credits through races by dodging the predatory extortion updates and microtransactions. They care about profits not the actual gameplay lol

I almost lost a position cause of this. The guy was right behind me and I didn't know you could cut the corner so I took it properly and he took that shortcut and he almost fish tailed me, didn't get a penalty for hitting me and almost spinning me out either, but I still ended up beating him by around 0.030 to take second.

In my limited experience, track violation seems to be mostly be enforced for the outside of turns, not the inside. I find that really strange. Carry too much speed into a corner so that you touch too much grass and you'll get a penalty, but cut across the inside, fully on the grass, gives no penalty.
Not the same in all corners, but it's an overall theme, in my experience. I keep being surprised at not getting a penalty for accidentally cutting too much, and likewise surprised that I was apparently too far out in a curve. :/
I’ve been enjoying it in races against the NPCs. Finally a realistic game where grass doesn’t bring you to a halt.
Haven't tried out Sport Mode yet, been a bit leery to give it a go since my experiences with GT Sport. Hopefully they get this fixed, cause I'd like to do some legit competitive racing.

Legit competitive racing is a myth on GT I'm afraid. Just takes 1 guy who doesn't want to be overtaken to throw you off and ruin your race
Sport mode can be very competitive once you get past the lower DR/SR lobbies. You still might find the odd greifer who wants to ram you because he's had a bad race
@@drewlewis1620 In GTS I was a solid B rank DR /S rank SR. Made it up to A rank a few times before getting punted off track and reset. I played Sport mode for over a year, and in my experience it was about 60/40 on races being clean vs dirty. I got fed up with having my DR/SR reset every month or two because a few people wanted to ram and shove people off track, and having to climb back up when I just wanted clean races.
I don't agree with the other two posters, I had a number of good races in Sport, and if Polyphony would implement Live Moderating of the Sport Mode races, I feel like a lot of these problems would get sorted out. I don't think it's asking too much either, considering they use Sport mode to entice people with real Cash/Car/Racing prizes. Messing around and goofing off is fine, that's what the regular Online Races section is for.. just keep it over there, not in the official races.
Whoever said GTSport doesn't offer amazing competitive races must have been stuck on low rating lobbies lol

I know some people enjoy the flashback to their youth that is GT, but there are much better ways to spend your driving time.

Track limits have always been a mess, but for the daily race C issue I feel like it would be a pretty simple fix for the devs, just needs to do a check if they get the delayed penalty and not count the previous lap, they did that in GT Sport from what I recall, so guessing these exploits will be patched... eventually.
Just invalidate the lap as soon as someone goes off track
@@constantin4958 And depending on where someone went off track, invalidate the next lap too, just in case the purpose of going off track was to carry more speed into the start of the next lap than otherwise possible.
@@Soonjai Going off track 2-3 times in an online race should result in a disqualifying to be fair
@@istachi I think total penalty time would be a much fairer approach for that. Like i.e. once a player accumulates 10 or more seconds of total penalty time it´s a automatic disqualification, serving a penalty won´t reset this.
Of course longer races should have a higher limit, but the idea would be that rammers as well as notorious cutters would get desqualified more often than they finish.
A lot of racing games has this unfortunate track limits issue. F1 used to have this types of issues especially at Le Castellet where you can just run off track all the way to the finish line. And the run off area is quite forgiving since it's 99% tarmac. They got it fixed in the F1 2021. Hopefully this will be fixed very soon as well.
0:22 i did this to purposely invalidate my lap (to start lower down and make it more fun) and I was shocked when no penalty came up!
This is why I currently stay out of the online mode, except some lobby races that are some great fun to sometimes. Great video though its good some people brings this on because it clearly needs some attention to fix.
The good thing is that you'd get penalized heavily in a race for this, but the qualifying is in shambles

Hmm, this explains the 3 seconds I cannot make up on daily C at Daytona.
I've also noticed that you can cut the exit of the bus stop without penalty also, I made up 1 second there in quali after seeing others consistently cutting it during the races. It's to be expected for a new game I guess.

Ye but its not new game or new track. Its just another game of the series and they should know where is the track limits and how to stop players from a using it. And its really easy to fix, but devs are lazy sht and dont want to do anything
Shouldn't be expected for a reiterative game from a first party studio.. QA testing seems to be a thing of the past, supplanted by consumers paying top dolla to be 1st in line to beta test before patching. It's pure lazy BS through and through.
Totally agree with your comments, PD should have some control over their track limits, especially if it's a daily race. Im still amazed constantly by the cheats. Why? Why? Why?

I found these right away. I hate the steering in this game. I've changed the settings and it always feels like the wheel only turns halfway.
I don’t think it’s fixed. Polyphony is more worried about us grinding to get the best cars. getting all our money through micro transactions is way more important.

Online in Racing Games are always awful.. Somebody crashes in your car with purpose no penalty but when you slide a little bit away from the track you get a penalty 😬😬 so unfair
They also need to fix the reset back on track issue as well. I'll be racing, misjudge a curve go off the road, then as I'm about to get back on the road it resets me on the track. There was no need for a reset I was literally already back on the track when it reset.
I feel terribly sorry for people who do this in online, but me not playing sport mode anymore just doesnt help my case, i am bored of it and it only makes me frustrated
I wish I could just blow through grass like that in this game. Anytime I go off-road for just a second, it’s like suddenly slowing down to 1% of the speed I was going and driving through mud, to say nothing of trying to steer back onto the road. I won’t dare even try to race online against real players because frankly, the steering in this game is absolutely abhorrent. No matter what I do, and no matter what car I use, I can’t negotiate tight spots at all. I’ve looked at my speed, and I’ll be going maybe 10 MPH with my controller’s stick all the way to whichever direction I’m trying to turn, but the damned car only turns at maybe 10°. It’s extremely baffling and frustrating to know I could make these turns better with the crappiest beater car in real life. Guess I’ll be sticking to GT3 after all this time.
Theres an invisible time limit that will automatically reset you if you crash off course, now say if you cut corners within that period of time, then you’re solid… i do think it should be patched.
as soon as outside of track limits annulate the time immediately and next lap doesn't count just like Raceroom :D
bro, i got this game with my dad. we played gt2 back then, and gt sport. really love those games. i watched a guy, not a pro, do all gold on licenses, and im shocked of how crazy i have to try compared to some of their attempts, where they literally drive the turns super unclean. im happy im into driving, so id never even attempt to cut like ive seen in some videos now the last few days :D even in single player, we try to do it all clean.

In Ride 4 if you cross the white line your lap is already invalid. I don't understand why is it so hard for a game with the budget of Gran Turismo to do it.
It's also absolutely pointless to have a time penalty in qualifying or time attacks if it invalidates your lap already. Either give players a time penalty that will be added at the end of the lap, or invalidate their lap, but not both and don't make they carry over the time penalty to the next lap. That's just LAZY coding of the penalty system and track limits.
It's impossible to drive any car without ABS (which would make you have more control of the brakes), there's no assist for a dynamic racing line. No visual car damage, no tire blowouts, no actual engine failures. Dynamic weather is only present in a few tracks, same old tracks, is licensing new tracks that hard? I can't believe they call this game the real racing simulator.
I can't believe they've had all this years only to make GT7 look like an enhanced version of GT:Sport.
they'll probably fix this. what I want fixed is my De Tomaso to be able to steer after I got the brakes. apparently after getting the full custom suspension the car can be lowered enough to break it. but after putting the stock suspension back on it didn't seem to fix it. sucks considering I paid for the car and didn't unlock it.
GT Sport was complained about by people for being too harsh, but I think I’d rather that than this…
I got a track limit penalty during the manufatuerers cup and I legitimately have no idea where I got it because theres not much to cut on the deep forest

A lot of bugs I even had my account wiped out. Glad it’s finally restored but atleast they gave us something for the sever being down
The real crime is not the jumping across the grass to cut time it's the auto transmission what a sinn
They had this corner cutting problem in the "Formula 1" games and France has loads of runoff so people were gaining almost whole minutes of time. Luckily they fixed it in the later games but its funny to go back and watch "F1 2018" clips of them completely abusing the track limits.
All I rlly want is a brand new 992 Porsche 911 turbo S and GT3 and a 2021 Range Rover Sport SVR and some more newer Audis and Mercedes like the E tron GT, new R8, RS3,5,6,7 and RSQ8 and Merc AMG GT 4 door, brand new E63 S, TBA brand new C63 2.0 hybrid, 2023 SL63 and the 2020 S63 coupe and a EQS 63 ( if there is one ) and this one bit ballsy but a G wagon, but this is my personal opinion as I love these cars and own a few of them
Yeah at one point I accidentally went into the grass and the “game” didn’t penalize me so I started crying. I almost threw up for how much I was crying. It ruined the rest of my day. I hope they fix this soon so I don’t feel so dirty.
The daytona one baffles me, cant get through the bus stop normally without getting slapped with a penalty and I dont even touch the grass yet this guy avoids the penalty until the line

after soo many games lately have come out in a buggy state and not fully finished and optimized. i expected gran turismo 7 to come out fully ready and with everything covered. but there have been some teething issues, and this one is massive

I can't get over how the camera looks like it's attached with a pole behind the car. It's like if you are turning you're turning the world around the car. Kinda like how in Pokemon on gameboy the sprite stays in the middle of the screen and when you move you actually just move the world not the sprite.

I found out the daytona glitch a while back and i thought everyone knew about it. How cool to know that i was one of the first people to find out about it.
I do this all the time in career mode as a retaliation for not having grid starts and making it impossible to win in 3 laps when the leader is already 1/3rd around the lap before the race even begins

You’re perfectly describing what has bugged me for ages in Gran Turismo!!
In the 1 round you can drive just straigth through the asphalt part and skip all the turns... its absurd.
GT5 when it came out, had an interesting Bug in the License Tests.
Fail (Go off road, ect.) and you instead instantly pass instead. This was patched later on. So don't worry.
Track limits are definitely a mess! I clipped the last part of the bus stop and got a MASSIVE 10 second penalty. Then I got a 15 second penalty for “hitting another car” when I BARELY tapped the back of someone and they spun off track not hitting a thing!
When you "BARELY" tap a car at its limits in a corner, you make it loose all the balance and there's nothing to be done to control anything. If it happens in the first lap, the victim finds himself 5s behind everyone. And I garantee you, when you started let say 3rd, it's far more than 15s that have been lost.
In this case, 5s is absolutely a joke. You made someone loose more than 15s, the least you deserve is a 15s penalty. Lots of race see people rage quit because of what you call "BARELY tapped". They started in the top 5 and 1 corner later they are last.
I will stand up and clap my hands the stronger I can to celebrate a 15s penalty for hitting an other car and senting it out of tracks. All the "sorries" after the race are disgusting. I would always prefer you carefull instead of sorry. Especially on the Northschleiffe because the guy was keeping its nose in my ass and ended up making a dramatic mistake. It's a complete waste of time to glue the one ahead on the Northschleiffe.

The one on Nurburgring was the same in GTS. If I had to guess, at least on the ring, it's because there is still that hard surface so somehow it doesn't count that as going off track. As for Daytona... I can't defend them on that one. Penalties have always been an issue and honestly there's no surefire way to fix it
unreal, just unreal ..... and yet this doesnt even happen during races. Polyphony was so focused on single player that they decided not to give a rip about multiplayer

I remember in gt sport you got a red lap, so they need to get this up to gt sport standards and hopefully beyondf fast.
Forget the daily races, why does a game calling itself a simulator allow cars to be catapulted into the air in the Rally Challenges just for driving over a small mound. Same with the cone challenge. A 1-Tonne vehicle is destabilised by a plastic cone. Ridiculous.
Monza by FAR the worst track for this. It’s shocking. The 1st chicane can be taken 200 mph+ in top gear, by going straight, cutting the chicane completely and the next chicane almost as fast with the same strategy.
I’ve been saying for years that it’s the best ‘BLATANT ARCADE RACER’ out there. There’s NOTHING ‘simulator inspired’ about this ‘game’ hence why I could never understand its curious sub title “real driving SIMULATOR”
Come on …. Barriers of ribbon can stop a car dead in its tracks, no qualifying what so ever (I only play SP), back of the grid start with about 3 laps to ‘chase’ not ‘race’, zero damage, so the rock solid juggernaut AI can be rammed into at a corner as a quicker means of braking, zero dirt build up on rally stages and original tracks with the obligatory scenery of hot air balloons and wind turbines (why do arcade racers ‘always’ feel the need for these two scenery props? 🤣).
One of my biggest gripes in the game is no pit lanes. There are none!!! What you get is the car going from max speed to an instant cut scene which is the SAME every time and NEVER includes your rivals or any other car for that matter because the real time pits are completely non existent so you haven’t got a damned clue what’s going on with your rivals in a close fought race until you’re back on track … and it literally ejects you back on the track (and in some cases like Daytona infield, it throws you back in the race yards away from a tight right hander 🙈🤣).
This is so funny, I raced against this guy earlier today and he kept messaging the chat to tell people to watch his world record on RUclips. I called him out for blatant cheating and he told me to "stop whining" 😂 Needs fixing asap

Please tell me you finished all the race, gold on everything and platinum, mastered all the courses and probably highest rated Sport driver, what more content could you need only a week later. It’s a good game don’t get me wrong, but the ‘robust’ multiplayer doesn’t make up for the lack of singleplayer events compared to all previous main line titles. That’s the explanation. You can’t cheat in your single player campaign against the A.I because that’s just unheard of. It’s definitely not online only so they can follow your every move and tweak shit like they did in patch 1.07
Hell theirs an issue at daytona if you get to close to the pit entrance it'll glitch throw your car then rest you just before the start/finish line on a new lap

I can't even boot up GT7 on my PS5.. It continues to crash while attempting the first music rally that you need to complete to get to the world map.
Reinstall the game, I'm pretty sure in this technological age this is the first thing most people try. Have you tried that? Don't complain online if you haven't even tried to sort the issue out using the bare minimum troubleshooting.
@@evilformerlys4704 well, I did reinstall the game multiple times, exchanged my disc for another new copy, rebuilt my database from safe mode and reset my ps5 to factory settings, contacted Sony and was told to wait to see if an update would be pushed out since this was a new game. I have multiple ps5/Ps4 games (disc and digital) and none of them have given me errors.
This is basically boosting through grass on mario kart but you're even less slowed down in this game without any mushrooms lol. Nice one Gran Turismo
The cars look like toy cars. Has nobody noticed? They are narrow and tall. Even the promo videos do this. Is this a joke? The emperor has new clothes, OK but who hasn't seen it?
GT7 was the only thing that has tempted me to get a console since the PS2... but then the devs dissuaded me from the idea of getting the console/game entirely with the slow slog coupled with pay-to-advance microtransactions. That crap's no good in any game, let alone a 70 dollar triple-A title.
This is why PC is the way.

Off topic but I was playing Forza Motorsport 4's Campaign and the way invalidated laps work are ridiculous. Drafting your opponents counts as a dirty lap and being drafted by YOUR opponents also counts as a dirty lap. Some tracks when cutting a massive portion of lets say, Top Gear Test Track, resets you back on the track when you reach that square shed that looks like Jimmy Broadbent's shack (Yes, I watch him, funny guy.), Indianapolis Speedway had me pissed where I would sometimes clip a part of the grass before the pit entry. That grass would instantly kill your speed no matter what car you were fucking using, me? LMP1 Peugeot.. Grass slowed me down from around 150mph to UNDER 70mph IN A FEW SECONDS!! I clipped it with my front right wheel, which would have me spinning and caused a pile up. Sorry for this lengthy ass of a paragraph but as an avid fan of Forza who has played ALL of the games, I prefer the Penalty system they had with the first two games. Tracks were fucking awesome too, especially the First Forza. Anyway, rant over. I shall go now, goodbye!

yeah i'll admit there was a race yesterday i was doing where i completely accidentally did this just cuz i misjudged the speed i should have been going and i was like crap im gonna get a penalty but nope... just carried on. felt wrong.
I've noticed in a few races there are people out qualifying me by 1/2 seconds and then in the race, even in clear air they're never able to replicate that time. I was curious if it was a tire glitch/exploit, but makes me wonder if it's this.
It's possible that they ran qualifying times in a different car
It is as simple as that ... its the "I really love cars, arcade simulator"... thats it!
Yet in project cars 2 I can barely clip the edge of the outer side of the rumble strips and get a penalty lol
This reminds me of the time trial problems at the French GP track on F1 2018
From what I'm hearing they may just pull a Forza and put walls up around those places or something
