Successfully defended his WWF title against him in May and June 1996.. Won the Tag Titles from Bulldog/Owen in 1997... Won the Euro title from him here. Other than Hogan > Savage, there might not be a more one sided feud in wrestling history!

As others have said, I’ve been looking forward to you covering this one and great work in doing so. I went to this event as a 10 year old and still have vivid memories of it now. It was absolute chaos trying to get into the arena, the security guards were checking every one entering as HHH music hit so my mum dragged me and my sister past the guards to get to our seats as Dude was coming out!
Crazy how this series is so influential, that so many wrestlers are doing their own triple chinlock. Be that as they want their own time on WB, or just as a tribute. Truly an iconic series

I think most people in 1997 were expecting HBK to win, I don’t see how this was unpredictable at all. Bulldog was in the UK but the WWF has a history of people losing in their hometowns. They should have figured out a creative way of Bulldog going over but getting heat on DX.

I was so hyped for this show as a kid. If I remember rightly, WWF cancelled a UK tour the winter before and I think was their only UK show in general that year. But I remember when it was first announced during Raw, with the title match originally going to be between Bret and Austin. That was my favorite feud, so I had to be there (it's a shame Austin never got a title shot at Bret. That was a lost opportunity, but I guess it's all down to timing too). I was 11 and didn't live in Birmingham, so I had a bunch of friends over and had a viewing party instead. What a night - My mam cried at the Bulldog massacre. Awesome, I was one of the 11,000 in attendance along with my brother - I remember we just couldn’t believe it ended as it did, definitely a bold move to let Shawn win in Daveys home country (especially after he dedicated the match to his sick sister at the start!) guess he’d already had his home country win with Summerslam 92, and maybe Davey had pushed his luck with Vince one too many times. Altogether a good finish to a average event but a great experience!

Awesome, I was one of the 11,000 in attendance along with my brother - I remember we just couldn’t believe it ended as it did, definitely a bold move to let Shawn win in Daveys home country (especially after he dedicated the match to his sick sister at the start!) guess he’d already had his home country win with Summerslam 92, and maybe Davey had pushed his luck with Vince one too many times. Altogether a good finish to a average event but a great experience!
