I’ve long been a minimalist at heart but not consistently in practice. In retirement it took me every bit of three years to reach a point where I wasn’t exhausted inside, angry about where I’d left, regretting dumb buying decisions I’d made (even after retiring; you NEED to budget, but I didn’t) and now finally I’m living like I’ve desired. And for me, living simply and buying simply is so important in staying focused; I’m a total scatterbrain and eating, sleeping poorly made that aspect worse. The less you have, the less you find you need. What you keep has value, gets used appropriately.
Thank you for sharing your story ❤️ I know so many of us can relate to the regret of buying especially things we didn’t really even want. ❤️ I’m so happy to hear how much your life has changed for the better ❤️❤️❤️
This was so well said and so true. I've noticed that since starting my minimalism journey I started to practice mindfulness and be more in the present moment. Living with less clutter cleared my mind and I can finally appreciate the small everyday things. I am so much more grateful. ❤
❤️ loved all the points that you made Becky & can relate to them all on on some level. I'm nearly 50, have lost most of my family & have no children. I think sorting through my parents belongings after they passed away & having no one to pass my things onto, changed me fundamentally in realising that almost all that they left behind was just stuff & made me more mindful & intentional about getting rid of the excess, so that I can concentrate on & enjoy the people & things that are most important to me now.
♥ We're all in this together! Decluttering is a form of self-improvement so it makes sense that you'd also start to practice self-care and embrace change.
Experiences over posessions is so eye-opening! Every weekend i want to make a hiking-trip for one day but i always have too much to tidy, to organize, to clean.. that there is no time left..
I’ve been working on this for last 5 years and slowing getting there i want smaller house and only items take pleasure in growing and taking care of plants, art work and cooking!! Thank you for your videos
❤ Wow. Your comment about looking back and seeing how far you have come is such a good one and something I always forget to do. That change is something I am very grateful for now that I have looked back. You have a really nice way of articulating things. Thank you
Thank you for these reminders! Decluttering spikes my anxiety but it's essential to cull items we don't use or need. Empty space will bring calm, but I must de-hoard my spaces 1st! Sending hugs 🫂 to everyone going through decluttering
I started my minimalist journey a few years ago and still working on it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences, your honesty is much appreciated. I started last January to note down daily what I am grateful for, it's helped me too. Clearing out my home has been so positive and gives me hope for a better understanding of what is really important. I'm a working progress. What I'm finding hardest is finding like minded people. Never been a person who would be trying to keep up with the Jones. So many people rapped up in consumerism and keeping up with the Jones. I have been called ignorant and that I may learn one day, well I choose to follow my journey of decluttering even if that means alone. Thanks for your videos I feel not so alone. ❤
Love your content and the honesty of the delivery of it. Congratulations on a great job and I look forward to seeing the channel grow. Best wishes to yourself and the family
I thought about this as I noticed a few times that Japanese people spent an absolutely inhuman amount of time on a certain task or artistic endeavor. One lady picked colored powders, hand scooped them with a tiny scooper, stirred them together, ground them, mixed in a little water or oil, blended until PERFECTLY smooth, then painted with it.... My American brain was going insane. Then Marie Kondo.... I was like, God, I don't love ANYTHING the way Marie Kondo loves (and thanks/appreciates) her items and other's spaces. Maybe I should slow down? But how do you slow down? Minimalizing LIFE, that's what I need.
Hahah I get what you mean about Marie Kondo 😂 I’ve just started 5 min meditations this month on my own just in silence it’s not long but helps to quiet my very loud and busy brain and helps me feel more in control ❤️ hope that helps!
@@minimaleaseI watched/listened to your vid while I made a grilled cheese sandwich. I have food at home. So I saved time, money on gas & didn’t spend extra money. I’m debt free & I want to remain that way. I’m glad I’m subscribed to your channel. And thank you so much for your fabulous videos 🧡
@@minimalease I love your videos! I am on a minimalism journey as well. My current issue is that I donate, and then a couple of weeks later I buy similar things back. How do I break the cycle?
