    Nice video, i wonder about reliability of a machine with touch screen at this price point. Would you suggest this Bezzera over quick mill Vetrano 2b evo, Profitec Pro 700, ecm synchronica or rocket R58? I really like the option of a shot timer which rocket R58 need a PID with a wire...not sure about that... also the knob of bezzera and ecm are really nice feature... but i heard Profitec Pro 700 is the most reliable...What would be your pick?

      I would not be concerned about the touch screen. This technology has existed for a long time and it is proven, just look at your smart phone, touch screens are everywhere. Bezzera is also the most experienced manufacturer of espresso machines so they know how to build them really well. Its really hard to choose. All of the machines that you mentioned are really nice. With the r58 you do have an external pid which improves the aesthetics in my opinion but you don't have that convenience of the shot timer clearly visible. It is the same with the joystick style steam wands, they are convenient but not everyone loves the way they look. All of the machines are solid and from reputable manufacturers so I suggest going with your gut. You really cannot make a bad choice from that lineup

    Thanks for the video! Would you recommend this espresso machine for a small coffee shop up to 60-100 hot drinks a day (tea, coffee)? What do you think of the Bezzera BZ13 DE, would it be a good choice too for commercial use?

    • @michaelb9479
      @michaelb9479 3 года назад

      The BZ13 is NSF certified which is good for light duty commercial use. Not sure if 60-100 drinks per day would exceed what's recommended for it. Haven't seen anything suggesting the Duo has NSF certification, I just know that Whole Latte Love sells both and lists it in specs only for BZ13.

      It is very difficult to say better or worse. They are different ways of achieving the same goal, great espresso. The other variables have a greater impact. Things like your grind quality, the freshness of your coffee and your distribution and tamping. You can get an amazing shot out of either group

  • @KimoLaChrizz
    @KimoLaChrizz 5 лет назад

    Is the volumetric dosing integrated as such that it maintains the programmed volume even when changing the grind recipe? (which inevitably would change the flow rate and with bad implemented sensor also the output). It is my impression that another machine (BZ07 DE) is not build with that in mind. When I change the grind setting I get a different volume output.
    To find that out measure the volume output with no coffee in the basket and another time with coffee.

    • @iDrinkCoffeeCanada
      @iDrinkCoffeeCanada  5 лет назад +2

      The volume remains the same regardless of your grind. However for example if you change your dose this may result in a different volume of brewed coffee. If you increase the amount of coffee or make your grind finer then a larger amount of water is absorbed in the puck. There is no machine that can compensate for this. Anytime you change your coffee we recommend resetting your volumetric doses for the best and most consistent results.

      Hi, the flow meter is not an adjustable part. If the machine is new I would take it back to the dealer to check it, if it is not you may have some scale buildup, scale can cause flow meters to malfunction

    Can this machine handle a small bakery cafe? How many lattes can you dish out continously? I do like these it is volumetric.

    • @iDrinkCoffeeCanada
      @iDrinkCoffeeCanada  5 лет назад

      Hi, the Duo would be suitable for up to about 40 to 50 cups per day. It's a single group machine so it can only do a double shot at a time. It depends on how you make your lattes but if you split the shot you could do two but many people put a double shot into a latte so it would be one.

    Hi Slavik, thank you for the excellent review! You highlight some aspects others don't. I can't decide between the MN or this DE version. I really want the DE version because of the programmability. Would make usage easier for my wife etc. But I'm unsure because of the group. The MN group being the "old school" workhorse and more mechanical making it potentially less vulnerable. At least this is what is assumed in quite a few forums. Also the programming unit of the DE being a further electrical unit/circuit. Again forums assume a further vulnerability. These statements in the coffee forums are mostly assumptions from none owners. The standard thought is that the more electronics the more vulnerable. So my questions:
    1. Do you think the BZ group is more vulnerable? You mention it's less maintenance/more reliable because no valves etc. (I guess in comparison to E61?)
    2. Do you see the more electronical units on the DE as susceptible to easier failure?
    3. What a few owners have claimed is that steam and moisture collects inside or at/around the screens. The threads I read are a few years old. There is supposed to be an update with better sealing of the around the display... Is this correct. One owner mentioned he installed a vent /anti vac to the tray so the maschine wouldn't vent internally. But I would not want to have to make modifications. Your thoughts? Sorry for the really long text and all the questions. It's just a chunk of money and I really like the machine. Would be a waist if the statements in the forum are somewhat true and the longevity of the device is non existing. Thank you big time in advance!!! 🙏🏽

      @@ED-sg2zg haha.. Funny.. Same thoughts. I bought the Bezzera DE version. Really happy with it. I read up a little more. And you can switch out the group as one part if there are issues. Enjoy!

      @@execatty Hi, I had it for a few year's now. 2 of my friends bought the same DE version with me after all my thorough research 😂. We all happy. Super convenient with the programming. Looks extremely nice if you are into a mix of modern and classic design. The lighting is a "highlight" too. I had the usual small issues that the pure mechanical devices have too... decalcification (Which is nice since it has an integrated digital shot counter that reminds you!) and sealing ring etc. So no major issues or regrets, no internal steam or anything. Being Italian build it has it's edges and differences between the 3 bought devices 😜 but all in all very nice

  • @vrallis
    @vrallis 5 лет назад

    How is the bz group (de version) compared to the E61 group (mn version) in terms of thermostability ?Is it more temperature precise ,does it give more or less clarity to the taste of the espresso?

    • @BensCoffeeRants
      @BensCoffeeRants Год назад

      A bit late to reply to your old comment but technically the BZ group SHOULD be more stable (and quicker to heat up) vs the E61 group. E61 dual boiler groups use 2 PIDS (one in each boiler) so it takes the boiler temperature and estimates the temperature at the group, this has 3 PIDS, an EXTRA PID in the group, as well as a heater in it, so it can detect and correct temperature at the brew group! Smart design.
      I think flavour clarity is more to do with your grinder, and also how you pull the shot.
      The E61 has a benefit of having the ability to add flow control to it (which isn't so intuitive or fun to use, but once you get used to it, it's good to have), this has volumetric dosing, which may not always work repeat-ably (so I've read, but it may also due to varying in your coffee prep and grind size etc), it would be nice if it can be trusted, and you can brew and steam at the same time without having to watch the shot brew.

    • @iDrinkCoffeeCanada
      @iDrinkCoffeeCanada  5 лет назад +3

      The pressure guages are digital on the duo and they are displayed on the screen. With regards to the copper vs steel debate. This is something that would require a lengthy response. Copper is not cheaper or inferior to steel. It actually has many positive properties especially when it comes to conducting heat. It's easier to get a machine temperature stable using a copper boiler than a steel boiler.

    • @NANA-gy7yx
      @NANA-gy7yx 5 лет назад

      @@iDrinkCoffeeCanada True... But prone to scale way more than Stainless steel.

    • @iDrinkCoffeeCanada
      @iDrinkCoffeeCanada  5 лет назад +4

      @@NANA-gy7yx yes that's true but we always recommend using softener, either in line or in tank. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Copper is more susceptible to scale but steel is susceptible to chlorides which are becoming a world wide problem. With steel you have to pay very close attention to water pH or risk pitting/corrosion. This is a major problem in many areas and I have seen steel boilers in commercial machines crack in less than 2 years

  • @MichaelZuskin
    @MichaelZuskin 4 года назад

    Does the display show the pressure, produced by the pump, or the pressure, actually built in the group head? I.e. where exactly is the pressure measured? I can suppose, that in the group head, since the pressure is building up relatively slowly, and then dances up and down, while the rotary pump is supposed to produce the asked pressure value immediately (that's what I have read) and steadily (without those up-and-downs). That's only my theory, but what is in the reality?

    • @iDrinkCoffeeCanada
      @iDrinkCoffeeCanada  4 года назад +1

      On all of these types of machines the pressure displayed is pump pressure. You would have to add an additional manometer at the group to get the extraction pressure
