Great review like always but my question is, is the rane 64 still worth getting because I see you still use it with new software and this mixer came out about three or four years ago ? I'm asking because with the new pioneer nxs2 you can use it now on serato dj and rekord box and so those the rane 64. Maybe you should make a video using the rane 64 controlling the rekord box software.
Berner Salvador The Rane 64 is still a fantastic mixer, but only really suitable for Serato DJ. If using Rekordbox software on your computer, then a Pioneer mixer is a better choice.
Xdj-1000mk2 or the Cdj-900 in 2019? I’m looking to buy standalone players but don’t have all the money to buy the 2000nx2. This is gonna just be in my home studio also not carried around
Yes you can; but that's not how they were intended. Take your tracks, process them using recordbox on a PC or Mac then using Rekordbox export those tracks to a USB stick and then your golden.

The cdj900nxs has not touch, not fast loop section, that xdj1000mk2 has. WHAT BUY? HELP!
Let me put that price into comparison 25 years ago I paid £1200 for two technics turntables and a pioneer four channel mixer, and yes I still have the mixer
Just had my Technics 1210s serviced. 25 years old also. Working like a dream. Didn’t have my 20 year old Pioneer DJM500 serviced. Still works perfectly - Like a battle tank. Hadn’t used either for 17 years due to life situation. Stunned they still work without issue. Cannot beat well built products. Now debating 1000mk2 or Nexus 900? Will never sell my technics 1210s or DJM500.
A new pair of xdjs just arrived here for my small rental business and they just feel cheap. We have several 1210 mk II that are now running for more than 25 years on techno parties in rental. I doubt that the XDJs will live to see a 25th month of operation. I feel kind of dirty to keep buying these heaps of plastic garbage in order to comply with this ill evolved standard. Ps. the 500 and 600 djm were bad mixers even for the time. No headroom, distorting from 0dB on, badly printed and horrible to service. I still have some of them lying around…
@@AsselParty You can't compare anything built 25 years ago to something built in the last 10 years. Of course they "feel cheap". This gear is NOT rental business quality. Its Bed room level quality for a private owner.
@@jgonz3542 yeah you are right, but the Nexus 2 doesn’t feel any better. And both xdj1000 and Nexus 2 are at least here in Berlin often the standard in rental.
if I have to remake the move I would go no hesitation with the SC5000 Prime because Denon still improve their older gears software and not just fixes the bugs like Pioneer do. and the Denon Dj stuff give your more features for your money. Next time I update my stuff this will be Denon DJ for sure.
2 key missing features : physical hotcues, cd/dvd support. For progressive house i don't need them. 2 used 1000 Mk2 is cheaper than a new 2000 nxs2 / 3000. Best budget solution prepearing for a club setup. First few gigs on a club setup after a controller is kinda difficult. A used DJM 800 is cheap and very similiar to the 900 nxs2. For home setup it is just an overkill. You can make perfect mixes on a ddj-400. 300 vs 3000 $
Hey mate, great review! I've just sold my XDJ 700's to buy either the CDJ 900 Nexus or XDJ 1000 mk2's. Do you have any preference of the two models? I really can't make my mind up. I'm leaning toward the XDJ as it sems to have more of the 2000 Nexus 2 features built in to the screen over the 900's features. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Hi guys, I really find difficult to compare these models, they are pritty much similar ( cdj 900nxs, cdj 850k, cdj 1000mk2) any comparison about them would be great! Cheers
Pioneer CDJ 2000-3000 looks to be out of stock and hard to get in 2023. I now play on the XDJ-XZ and not sure if i should wait to get the CDJ 3000 or just get this one ?
Tell me about it brother... I had the DJ808 for months, but Roland had an exclusive review embargo on its release date... Could have released it way back in September. Great work on the reviews as usual.
They would make sense for anyone who may not want to use CDs anymore. I'm at the fence about buying these and moving on to the nexus 2 system or buying a pair of used cdj 2000 nexus and staying with Nexus 1. (Have the dim 900 nexus and it works great)
Two of these players are the same cost as a Pioneer XDJ-XZ, there''s reasons why I'd pick that over the Opus Quad but either all in one controller are WAY better than these old things
ddj-1000 is a great controller. But that’s depending on your taste, if you like to have two standalone media player that will never fail on you or do you trust your laptop with the ddj-1000.
ya i got a xdj1000 mk1 about 3 months ago as i was going to make a set of them, but i desided to get an mk2 as my 2end player to try it out and the mk2 is far more better than the mk1 hardcore. im tots selling my mk1 to get another mk2, they are fenominal players and a lot more better feeling ie less plasticity .
Im gettin pretty pissed at pioneer. Every change they did, SHOULD have been a FREE firmware update for the xdj1000 mk1. Now theyre selling it with another ridicioulessly high pricetag.
+Dan bog And be careful if you buy these,in six months they're be another upgrade.I think the problem these days there's too many upgrades too soon!! Slow down and take it easy! I'm talking to you pioneer!!
:) Well, most of the improvements are requests from the users, and when the hardware/software can't cope or physical features are missing, a new model is usually around the corner. The Mk updates have always come every 2nd or 3rd year and and then a new generation is introduced every 5-7th year . No difference this time, but of course it's irritating if you got the Mk1's just before the release of the Mk2's. Knowing the cycle of releases makes you aware of when it's time to wait another month or two, especially around December-January, when most of the new stuff will be introduced. My 2000Nxs's has been with me for soon 4 years so I got myself the Nxs2's a few months ago. I'm totally satisfied with the new setup, but as my Nxs's will continue to be my travel kit, It would have been great if the 1000Mk2s had been an option then. It could have saved me a lot of money. With the DDJ-SP1 connected and manually adjusting of the jog to heavy, there's nothing I would miss from the NXS2's. The break function is an effect on the DJM-900Nxs2 and for an odd use of CD's I still have my NXS's... I think it's better to be happy about the choices we have and that no matter which Pioneer player you end up having, they work very reliably for years. 2017 is going to be the first year in a long time when Pio will face some competition in the booth when Denon introduces their new line up. Pio is of course very well aware of this and it's gonna be interesting to see what they counter with :) . People mostly talk about new functions and buttons but what got Pio to the top and has kept them there is Reliability, Simplicity and Familiarity. That's what matters in the long run and for pro use. No other brand has even come close so far. I haven't had a single interrupt with my Pio gear ever, and my first setup was the CDJ-500/DJM-500, bought in 1994/95. Still have my second set of players, the 500II's from '96, in fully working order. For 7 years they were my primary players.
dj-peterofficial Thank you for this post. I've been kicking myself in the head trying to decide if I'm going to shell out for a XDJ-1000mk2 pair with a DJM-900NXS2 mixer, or a full NXS2 setup. No one in my area has a NXS2 setup, and the added benefit of getting everyone else to play on the same top-tier system is something I'd like to facilitate (especially all the well-deserved rave DJs above the age of 35). The cost is prohibitively expensive to buy on impulse, but not so much so that budgeting can't make it happen this year. However, even though cooler heads insist I'm not a crazy person for striving for a full NXS2 setup, I can't help but wonder if a 1000mk2 pair would be better.
I defend all my investments (have a boss at home, you know ;) ) by comparing the expected income over the time I can use the gear. A top of the line pioneer mixer will last you for 10 years, which is the age of a DJM-800, that I still have one for the road. Still doing a great job. The players will last 4-5 years and longer if you add the cost of new cue/play buttons, USB interface and Lan port. They may last, but to be honest, these are parts that will wear out at some point unless they are never moved around, except for the USB interface. Since years I do about 100 gigs/year. That means that I take 400 gigs into the calculation for the players and 1000 gigs for the mixer. If I play less they will last longer. Also, this is the gear that I will be on most of the places where I play, sooner or later. It's nice to be able to perform on the equipment provided. If I would half my gigs, I would not have gone for the NXS2's. I would go for the XDJ-1000Mk2 and the DJM-900Nxs2. The mixer gives you more ''News'' and more possibilities, especially if you have a DJM-800, but also compared to the 900Nxs. The day I step down to an occasional gig ''just for fun'' I'd be totally satisfied with the DJM-450. 99 times out of 100, I never use more than what's on that mixer in a live situation. Still, the best with the Pioneer echo system, is that if you can use one model, you can use anyone with a very short learning curve. The little Devil on your shoulder on the other hand will always tell you that the NXS2 is the way to go ;) . It is after all THE best player out there... It's like choosing the rims for your car. The ugly steel ones will do the job just fine but... BUT that little devil will have something to say about that too... :) .
dj-peterofficial So it sounds like I should commit to the 900NXS2 and 1000mk2 setup. I looked at the new 450, of course, but I really want the features provided by the 900NXS2 (and the growth provided by having four channels). Your feedback was much appreciated. I'm not doing more than maybe 10 gigs a year, but I would like to see the mixer get used (and hopefully the players, as well) for our local shows to inspire better continuity and overall performance. I have nothing against controllers (I've used an NS7FX for the last three years), but I would like to see other DJs, and myself strive for the universal standard that vinyl used to provide 15 years ago. You were a big help in making this decision to determine that I shouldn't struggle to obtain the NXS2 players, but be happy with ones that'll do what I need them to do (and do it well).
It’s 2022, and this still seems like a solid set up!
that's what i'm saying...for the money. I want to practice on something club like... i got the XZ, but i'm thinking of upgrading to the 1000 mk2.

I've got two stanton str8-80 setup with Akai AMX mixer and every time I adjust the pitch slider on the turntables or touch the snyc botton on the AMX my bpm will start jumping like crazy in serato dj. what can I do to stop this nightmare, please?
ok so i have a pioneer djms9, am i able to hook these up to the mixer then just a usb with music on it instead of using my laptop with serato?
What cable are using as the pro dj link connecting the 2 players? Is it an neo oyaide?
how can i use recordbox in hdui mode ?
can you beat jump value of 8 or 16 using sp1 on xdj1000mk2?
no
Where did you get the cords in this video? Do you have a brand name?
Perfect for the DDJ-1000 ?
Can anyone help me out here? I'm wondering what's a better setup - 2x Pioneer Xdj 700 with a Pioneer CDJ 800 mixer? or a Denon Prime 4 plus?
Great video. I am looking at these or the CDJ 900, what would you advise?
Whatever you get, make sure it has a USB PORT , I've got the cdj 800 Mk2 and they can't even hook up to a computer, lots of money wasted!!!!
I'm just trying to get back djing was looking at the xdj Rx do you think their will be a mk2 ... I'd hate to buy it then a new model come out
Also I understand there’s no HID mode for Serrato what will it run in DVS mode for Serrato
Xdj-1000mk2 or the Cdj-900 in 2019? I’m looking to buy standalone players but don’t have all the money to buy the 2000nx2. This is gonna just be in my home studio also not carried around
Dracorex
What did you go for in the end?
A Geeza still haven’t bought anything I’m looking more towards getting the cdjs instead their only $2k more
Dracorex
lol proper cheap
Compared to CDJ900NXS, which is the better buy? Pros vs Cons?
Can I only use my USB sticks without rekordbox? I heard it is possible but it takes very long to load the tracks from my USB device?
Yes you can; but that's not how they were intended. Take your tracks, process them using recordbox on a PC or Mac then using Rekordbox export those tracks to a USB stick and then your golden.
Diggin the shirt.
@djcityTV i need your help! i have to buy 1 cjd/xdj because i upgrade my set up(cdj800mk2 and xdj1000) now i have the chance to buy 1 cdj900nx or 1 xdj1000mk2 at the same price. so i have lots of CDs and maybe it's good have cd player, but now i don't know which buy.
Love you review ;)
Can you hook up the sp1 to the nexus mk2?
Does the xdj's have the type 2 phase meter?
Can someone tell me where to buy this cool coloured cables?
xdj 1000 mk2 or denon sc5000 prime? I had my mind set on the denon and was going to collect tomorrow but now im waivering bit
I'm holding out to buy a pair of Primes myself. Dual layer functionality is what won me over
if I have to remake the move I would go no hesitation with the SC5000 Prime because Denon still improve their older gears software and not just fixes the bugs like Pioneer do. and the Denon Dj stuff give your more features for your money. Next time I update my stuff this will be Denon DJ for sure.
Great review MoJaxx, you been able to get your hands on the Denon VL 12 yet, or the Roland TT-99, waiting to see them both.
#MoJaxx FTW!
Vaping Fanatic Soon, soon
2 key missing features : physical hotcues, cd/dvd support. For progressive house i don't need them. 2 used 1000 Mk2 is cheaper than a new 2000 nxs2 / 3000. Best budget solution prepearing for a club setup. First few gigs on a club setup after a controller is kinda difficult. A used DJM 800 is cheap and very similiar to the 900 nxs2. For home setup it is just an overkill. You can make perfect mixes on a ddj-400. 300 vs 3000 $
Hello sir, how to chage bar s will show wave form
does it support serato dj software ???
How would you see the 1000 mk2 in comparison to the 900 nxs (ignoring the CD drive in the 900)? Which of both is closer to the 2000 nxs?
Tobias Koch 1000mk2 is far closer the NXS2 kit than the 900NXS. That's very outdated at this point.
Hi what did u get I’m in same boat now
Hello Mojaxx, can you do the same by using a Reloop Neon & Pioneer XDJ700 together?
Richard Williams Only when using the players connected to a laptop.
Can I connect it with Traktor with it's full functions?
what usb cable he use?
Hi guys, I really find difficult to compare these models, they are pritty much similar ( cdj 900nxs, cdj 850k, cdj 1000mk2) any comparison about them would be great! Cheers
Pioneer CDJ 2000-3000 looks to be out of stock and hard to get in 2023. I now play on the XDJ-XZ and not sure if i should wait to get the CDJ 3000 or just get this one ?
is it workıng wıth traktor ?
In 2018, Native Instruments is working on it
How to hookup sp1 to cdjs
Hi folks. Does anybody know if the full 'moving' waveform from Rekordbox DJ appears on the older models of CDJ whilst in HID mode? e.g CDJ2000NXS
mtaylorfilm No, it doesn't.
Thanks for the quick answer Mojaxx. Great videos as always. :)
3:21 The 900 NXS2 does not have fader start...
Dope! I need to review that thing... lol
DJbooth DJ's I'm still waiting for Roland UK to get me an 808, so, win some lose some, mate ;)
(Have the dim 900 nexus and it works great)
anyone know if theres HID support within traktor for this player?
There is a Beta test happening right now. Check the fourm on NI website for details.
this or a sc5000 for 900?
Million dollar question 🙋🏻♂️ 1000 MK2+DJM450 or Opus Quad, as a first home set up?
Two of these players are the same cost as a Pioneer XDJ-XZ, there''s reasons why I'd pick that over the Opus Quad but either all in one controller are WAY better than these old things
@@WH3 thanks dude, i got both.
would this be better than a ddj 1000 then?
ddj-1000 is a great controller. But that’s depending on your taste, if you like to have two standalone media player that will never fail on you or do you trust your laptop with the ddj-1000.
cool collection on the background, I think I played on all of them or almost all ;]
actually the DJM 900 NXS2 doesn't support faderstart, doesn't it?
ya i got a xdj1000 mk1 about 3 months ago as i was going to make a set of them, but i desided to get an mk2 as my 2end player to try it out and the mk2 is far more better than the mk1 hardcore. im tots selling my mk1 to get another mk2, they are fenominal players and a lot more better feeling ie less plasticity .
This thing or CDJ 900 nxs (i don't use cd slot)
the 900nxs is outdated go and get the XDJ100mk2
Ok thanks
Remember cdj 900 nxs does not have hot cues buttons.
Nice I like it
Great Review... question... how can I hook up an SP-1 to the MKIIs?.... that feature ALONE makes these KILLER and a must have over the 2000s
I'd love to see a XDJ 700 MK2 with Flac & Alac support and DDJ Sp1🙊🙊🙊🙊
Or a XDJ RX mk2 with Flac & Alac Support & Sp1
X DJ-RX with a 3rd channel - for a CDJ to plug into - I have the X DJ-RX and only prob is there is no 3rd channel
FINALY!!!!
You were a big help in making this decision to determine that I shouldn't struggle to obtain the NXS2 players, but be happy with ones that'll do what I need them to do (and do it well).
you can get a cdj 2000 nexus for little bit more money $1300.
What brand new?? If so, where?
Isn't the cdj900nxs2 1200 dollars?!
Emanuele Ferrero The is no 900 NXS2 player, only the older 900 NXS which is very outdated now.
MojaxxVDJ Oh okay tank you very much!!
For that money, better get the SC5000!
