I've been resisting the digital DJ world for 24 years, and just a few weeks a go I bit the bullet and added a pair of these to my setup. I am exceptionally happy with them, and I feel superhuman on how easy it is to mix on them. Now I'm considering making some extra space by ditching one of my turntables and upgrading these to CDJ-3000s.
@@spceboi Money is definitely an issue. It's crazy that these 700's are $1600 for a pair. My Technics were "only" $860 for the pair when I bought them in 2001.
Hey! I work as a full time DJ and I have many Pioneer setups, from the mid 90's 500 setup to the NXS2 setup. When I needed a easy-to-bring setup the choice landed on the modular XDJ-700/DJM-450 setup, and I can tell that this is the setup that has the best value of them all. The features are similar to the the CDJ-2000 Nexus's but with a better touch search, and after 4 years of use, I can tell that they are very durable. Mine work just as good as when i got them. A few micro scratches on the jog wheels are the only way you can tell they have been used extensively. The day these players need new switches, a new board is quite cheap and will give you all new switches and a new pitch as well. Of course my NXS2 setup is a better setup, but also much more expensive and heavy to carry, and the way I play, the XDJ-700's are enough for me and i do not feel limited. I prefer my XDJ-700's over the CDJ-2000 Nexus, easy choice. I went modular because it gives my more options, like a 4 player setup, and for easy maintenance compared to the XDJ all-in-one's. If Pioneer ever releases the XDJ-700 Mk2, I will go for them before I go for the CDJ-3000's.
Hello there, first of all thanks for sharing your insights. I DJ as a hobby and I intend for it to stay in that way. Nonetheless, after using a S2 mk3 for almost 3 years now, this controller feels, like you said, as a toy right now and I would love to upgrade my gear to start taking it more seriously. Even if I do not want DJing to be a professional career path, in the sense that I would not be looking to take gigs nor getting payed for it, I would love to be able to play in local clubs and parties just for the fun of it, and the standard setup of these places where I live are, of course, CDJs (mostly the NXS 900's) So looking for a home setup I came across the XDJ-700's with the Xone 23c or with an All-in-one controller, this one being the XDJ-XZ. I wont be detailing and entering into the pros and cons of each one, because you most likely are more informed that what I am. You mentioned towards the end of the video, that if one is not looking to play with vinyl's -which I'm not-, going for a controller would be a better idea in current times, but having a modular CDJs setup at home sounds like the right next step to take, but at the same time the XZ layout completely matches a CDJ layout besides it having stacked waveforms. Budget wise, the XDJ's 700 are a bit more slightly expensive but it doesn't make a difference for me. So I'm torn between the 700's or the XZ. Would love to hear your perspective on this. Thanks!
Hi there! Thank you for watching the video and glad that it was helpful. This is just my personal take. I would go with the xdj even though the firmware is slightly older. the fact that you can pair them with any mixer you like is a big plus to me. Im not a big fan of pioneer mixers, I’d not mind them just don’t prefer them. I also like the fact that it’s disjointed pieces where if something breaks I can fix without effecting the rest. I just check the xdj xz, and I think you would save some money if you go the 700 route. Also keep in mind that there is no ‘wrong’ choice here. Whatever you end up choosing I’m sure you ll enjoy. Hope this is helpful!
@@spceboi Thanks a lot for answering! I think I might go with the 700's... modular setup seems too big of a pro to ignore. Both are pretty big so portability it's not something take in mind for either. With the XZ, yeah, you're getting a better mixer from the get go (even if it's pioneer, I like the extra effects it has) but you're stuck with it, and if you want 4 channels, you'll have to spend a whole lot of money for two extra CDJs. You end up spending pretty much the same you would spend for a 2000's NXS setup or similar. Both of them are similarly outdated so it's not that one is considerably newer than the other one. At the end of the day, you are correct that there is no wrong or right/better or worse, both are going to serve me well but thinking about a professional route where I can update stuff how I want to and whenever I want to, I think the 700's are the best option.
