Most of the scenes are spot on to the game. But they added more like the entire day. The game starts when Sarah wakes up at night. The game is a masterpiece, brutal, and heartbreaking. Welcome to the Last Of Us. Be prepared.
This is interesting, thank you for taking the time to inform us! I though I was ready for this series....little did I know the emotional devastation that was waiting for me. I am finally glad I get to experience this franchise though. I have a good friend who appears on the channel and he LOVES TLOU and they way he speaks about it got me so excited to watch and be a part of the fan community. What an amazing franchise this seems to be. I am truly excited for what comes next.
In the game you start playing as Sarah--until the car crash, when it switches to Joel. So that game thing of identifying with the playable character makes you start caring for Sarah. Since TV doesn't have that player/playable-character effect going for it, adding the events of the day to tell you more about Sarah and her relationship with her dad and uncle is here to take its place. And it's really well done.
One of my absolute favorite games of all time. For a premiere, it knocks it out of the park. It helps the games are so narratively driven, but adapting it as a show as well as they did shows how strong the team was for this. I can’t wait for what comes next!
The quality of this episode is extremely high, the time and effort put onto this series is on full display. I am so excited to spend more time in this world.
The first talk show scene wasn’t in the game and it’s an amazing addition to the show because it gives you chills that this might actually happen in real life and it’s real science.
I agree 100%, the beginning was sets the tone perfectly. It establishes this tension that doesn't really alleviate and only gets built upon. I also thought it was brilliant because it is a way to explain what the infected are without having to force a character to spew out exposition randomly. It feels natural during this broadcast and relating it to the parasitic Fungi in Ants was brilliant.
Its scaringly similar to the game which makes me scared for what's to come, however they switched things up beautifully. For instance, in the game you play as Joel and there is long combat sequence where you and Tess fight Robert and his gang and Marlene shows up in the end, in this Marlene and her gang fights Robert and Joel and Tess show up late.
That is interesting, I kind of like the show version better. Thank you so much for sharing that information, I appreciate all of you fans so much. The Last of Us game fans have been nothing but kind to us and we appreciate it!

Thanks for dropping this information! I knew about this but it is so wild to think about that a parasitic fungus like that actually exists in the world. The way the use it at the beginning of this episode really helps to entill that terror in the audience when we see it happening to the humans. Hopefully it stays in only ants...😅😅😅

Sarahs scene in the game and in this episode is freakin heartbreaking. Just the way he tries to get her up and she is already gone absolutely KILLS me. You see animals do that in the wild, they refuse to believe their offspring is dead and keep trying to wake them up.
Hello! Lived your review. I'm a subscriber now! In the games at least, you never find out about Joel's wife/Sarah's mom. It was very accurate to the game, down to clothing people were wearing, special weapons, personalities. It was *chef's kiss. But yeah, you guys did great with the analyzing. In the car scene- You play as Sarah in the back seat, and as you move the camera to see what's happening somewhere else, Sarah moves with you. You are looking through Sarah's eyes until the car crash.

There's so much good in this episode. I'm blown away. The talk show stuff is original to the series, but they used all that content matter in marketing the game and talking about it to explain it all. They use a lot of that background info in the opening credits.

The Last of Us is one of my all time favorite games. The story and the characters in the game were real and very much you get attached to them in every way. The show’s first episode was faithful to the soul of the game and so many scenes were just like the game while changing some things to surprise us and adding more context to some scenes. Loved every minute of it.

I have a real issue watching couples react to this show as I understand about split sharing ratio so copyright issues but it's real tiring wanting your viewers to watch 90% of your big heads to 10%. If we were in a room having a drink without youtube and you ask me to watch your reaction and you showed me this you'd walk out on your own showing. Not even interested in going on further. Just so sad two people who react is such worst than the 1.
Super accurate, they respected the original materiel when it had to be respected and when they could elevate some parts they did it perfectly. The game is one of my all time favourite and I was so anxious about this tv show and it blew me away, all concerns are gone, perfect adaptation.

I mean the episode was 120 minutes long and the reaction portion of this is only 29 minutes of us which features silent reaction shots and banter. It would be a pretty terrible video if I didn't cut out all of the long awkward silences as we watched the episode LOL. Also this is not the volume we are watching the show at, we have the volume pretty high in our headphones and as you can see we watch with the subtitles on so I would say we didn't really miss anything. Thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it!
