it's not so much an issue, but the game require a lot of button to play so people are having a hard time mapping the button. The game is highly recommended to be played with a controller, unless you are familiar with Emulator game and can put up with it.
Ya I just played last night and first thing I realized is that there is no mouse option and I had to map quite a bit of keys. It took me a good hour to finally find a comfortable/easy to remember key binds. This could be an issue when the game will require to use a lot more keys during combat so I did purchase a Xbox one controller today which feels a ton better. It’s unfortunate but it’s still worth it cuz.. thighs.

And if I like it and want to collect the other games on the switch or ps4. I love playing RPGs but have never played some of the recent entry of this series.

Thicc thighs and no time limit. Sold. I liked the time limits when playing Arland games but as I've played more games, I like the freedom of taking as long as I want more now.
This was my first Atelier game. While the battle mechanics and alchemy system can seem very overwhelming, a few hours of letting the combat auto pilot while you push buttons, in addition to spamming the "high quality" autocraft button for alchemy, and you'll eventually figure it out enough to play the game effectively. Came for the thighs, stayed for the plot. And by plot, I mean Lila. In all seriousness, the game is worth the $60 price tag, and I don't say that much in the current age of gaming.

You had me at "no time limits". I absolutely loved Atelier Meruru and was set to max out the alchemy book, lvl up, and do lots of questing only to get cut off at the 5yr mark and the fun was over.
Debatable. Iris had a better story than either MK 1 or 2 and Shallie has MK2s combat almost 1 for 1 (mk2 had better frame rates, but that won’t be an issue any more once the Dusk remasters are out) The only thing mk2 has going on is the school setting.
While I support the idea since I really loved the game, I highly doubt (like 99% doubt) they're gonna do it considering how bad Mana Khemia was received in Japan. The PTSD they got at that time was too strong that they won't dare touch it ever again, especially with how kinda badly the "Atelier series" is doing in the passing time. But now that THICCNESS has come to save the day, the chance of it happening may probably rise in the future, probably.
You had me the moment you said "they got rid of time limits" I played a few Atelier stories and noticed that the greatest flaw to enjoying the game was the time limit. The success of the game was always time management and making recipes in a certain amount of time. to put it bluntly it rushed the player into doing so much alchemy and no world exploration. The Atelier games didn't had any time limits for some time now about 5 years now I think, so the games are Atelier Shallie, Sophie, Lydie & Suelle, Lulua and Ryza those 5 games don't have any time limits.

@Final Fantasy XIII They really do look super cute lol. Seemed like the closest art style to a Tales of game at the time I first played an Atelier game
Mr. Rogue in most of the atelier game, there’s time limit in each chapter or when you moved to new main quest. Meaning we’ll be given days/hours to finish the quest or main event. The time passes when we travel to the areas, when battling and also during alchemy. The more complicated the alchemy recipe, the more time it takes. In atelier rorona, the time passes even when you move to the next frame even in the same area. But you’ll eventually be able to create items that can reduce the amount of time passes. In some instalments, you can only choose certain events so you’ll need to choose which characters you want to know more and you won’t be able to view everyone’s story. I’m not sure how the other players feel but it really stressed me out. I feel like I can’t do anything carelessly because I won’t have enough time. I played atelier ryza and I enjoyed the freedom the game give me. I can also feel the depth of each characters because they have many interactions with each other as they traveled together. Each characters are great and I just in love with Ryza. She’s strong willed and fun which is different from atelier’s usual naive mc.
If you’ve played other atelier series before, you’ll enjoy atelier ryza. But if it’s your first time with atelier, I hope you’ll have a good time playing it because for me, atelier is one of my favourite instalments because the concept intrigued me
@@niafarquem5402 thank you very much for the explanation. I haven't played any of the titles in this series but this one caught my eye with all the Ryza for Smash talk lately. The time limit stuff sounds pretty stressful cause I'm big dumb when it comes to deep craft/alchemy/synthesis stuff. lol
No clear meta goal for the first 10 hours, no time limits, more than one character has plot development and the main character is the queen of all thiccs and a tomboy . . . So this game is an anime?
Not surprise the switch was not going to look like the pc and other consuls when comes to details and graphics of the game. I’m still getting the switch version just because these games I sadly don’t have time for when it comes sitting down and relaxing hours of gameplay. On the go fits my life style. Thanks for the review tho!
People seem to always judge games by how long the main story takes, but forget that the main story isn't all the game is. Skyrim's main story can be beaten in like, 6 hours. 10 if you suck. But Skyrim was held, and is still considered by many, to be one of the greatest games of all time.
I have the switch version so I take offense to his remark but i haven't experienced any switch problems or frame rate issues and the graphics are actually very rich I've already cleared the game and I love it honestly and I'm new to the series
Same! No problem at all. Still not finished but lately I play it the whole time since exam phase and graduation is done now and I need to wait until October to start visiting the university. Eldenring will keep be busy too now
The crafting system seems very similar to the mana khemia series. And I loved the crafting system of that series. The combat too! It's like a 3d version of mana khemia!
I played 4 hours into it, and i'd say this game is absolute gorgeous! Always stuck gazing at the clear sky for couple of minutes especially in morning/day. The gameplay too has become faster than before, not as a common turn-based anymore. Characters and plot has more adventurous vibe than before. If you love jrpgs, you have to pick this up.
@@alrrruunoda7955 You can literally even see the clouds moving. Why is that impressive? Cause it even shows up on the explorer map at times how the clouds float over the island like you a actually look from above.
Really happy to hear Ryza turned out well. I'm happy we were able to get 3 Atelier games in one year. Can't wait to play this in a couple hours when it unlocks on PSN. I went with the digital deluxe version.
*insert thigh based double entendre here* But it's good to know this game is great, my wallet is hurting but I'm going to gladly keep it open just enough for this game
I'm glad I saw this review before I pulled the trigger on this game. As of this comment, the game is $30 on Steam, butI wanted a second opinion before I bought it. Will definitely pick this game up now. Thanks for this :)
I think they should be the ones to make a Shield Hero game. The alchemy system could be used for a shield system. He could put materials into the shield to unlock new ones.
I've always questioned time limits in a game series designed for slow and relaxing Game play Hence why I'm a bigger fan of the mysterious trilogy as that game only Had one very gracious time limit due to its open world nature Hence why Ryza is more fun if harder to grasp at first
So many games right now and my backlog is crazy. Still need to finish Control, man of medan, judgment, yakuza 3-4, borderlands 3, assassins creed odyssey, the outer worlds, and now death stranding, star wars and need for speed are coming up this month. Let us breath! 😪
This game has a story? Cool, I'll have to check it out when I'm done crafting. I've wasted hours at a time in this game just making cool stuff. Fantastic crafting system.
Well yeah the game is pretty short since there is more DLC in the imported version I think, but it isn't a bad game though, I didn't really spend the entire time making space for items and still finished everything I wanted to do quickly.
I didn't have footage of the PS4 version. Koei Tecmo provided PC B-roll and I played the Switch version; the entire review is based on the Switch version with the PC version only being briefly mentioned in the graphics bit because it's the one I had footage of. It's good to know that the PS4 version looks almost as good though!
Noooo, whole lot different. Especially with adding reshade. If a game is released multi platform either go switch for the portability or PC for crispiness.
@Lekzie69 everything is fixable on PC. Nier is already fixed a few days after release with Special-K. And no I am not talking about game selling, I am talking about playability x experience : if it is released across multiple platforms, you go to switch for mobility & to PC for fidelity. E.g : Why would I play doom on PS4 when I can play I can experience all the graphical capability on PC or play it anywhere I can on switch?
Whenever you hear somebody say shit like: "nah I go for couch option 10ft away on my 65" oled using a wireless controller instead of staring at the monitor in front of ur face" Just ignore that person's opinion, they have never experienced PC gaming in their lives and are completely ignorant of it. Because you can do all the stuff they just mentioned on a PC with no problem, they are standard features for PC. The only people who don't know that, are willfully ignorant console only people like this guy. So you like your console and don't want to play on a PC? Great. Don't be ignorant of the facts of the other platform you're trying to downplay to justify your choice though. It just makes you look stupid to people like me who have all the platforms. I automatically assign you to the special bracket, for people you talk to as slowly as possible. When you spout such BS.
I wish they would remake Mana Khemia! I know it’s not a true atelier game but it’s my favourite by far! Would love to be able to play it on the Switch!
The grid feels like Mana Khemia, which I really liked. I have yet to play this game and desperately wanted the limited edition, but if I cannot get my hands on it, I'll aim for PC instead.
I play both games u mention. An 'A' rated game. If u have tight wallet, prioritize ur playstyle. Well, if u're jrpg lover u will want both ofc. Savings my allowance after Lulua since I saw Ryza graphics.
As a woman myself, Ryza is a pleasure to look at! I never really liked the look of the past Atelier protagonists, far too skinny for my liking, so Ryza is a breath of fresh air and I think she is the reason why the game is selling so well. I am tempted to get this game asap because it looks fun and I always HATED the time limit of the previous games; I don't like being rushed!
I would honestly say the game feels more like the PS2 era Atelier games. Which I think is too its benefit. It has a nostalgic feeling to it like I am playing Mana Khemia for the first time. If only they'd bring Mana Spirits back.
Got interest cause of thighs, stayed for interesting gameplay mechanics/looks and now I am gonna look if this game is really something for me. Thanks for the review beforehand.
I dont get why a game being short is a negative. Firstly I like being able to finish a game and so it being like at least 60 hours is too much. Secondly I think if the game is fun 10-20 hours still is plenty, after that I feel like alot of times games start getting tedious or the gameplay/story feel like its stretched just to make the game longer. I get some games have alot of story and so them being 60-100 hours feels natural, nothing wrong with that but it shouldn't be the norm imo
Jay I also made the mistake of getting the Switch version when I should have got the steam one, that realization is maxed out when you see the mods that are available :(
Just got my physical copy for the Switch tonight. Hoping all of the stuff that comes with the digital deluxe version will be avaliable for purchase separately.
They said shes not supposed to be sexy... Suppose to been more thick as in hefty from farming, they said they did shorts instead of a skirt cause she can't farm in a skirt.. that said I miss time management
I came by Atelier Ryza when browsing through animes to watch. I was thinking to myself this anime look and feel like a video game and it would interesting to play a game where we find materials and craft stuff..... The surprise I got when I found out IT IS A VIDEO GAME
Is there an actual plot? Like does it go anywhere, or is it more of a slice of life, happy fun time sorta thing? I've heard a lot of people say it isn't a save the world type deal, but no one days what it is reminiscent of.
Well it's pretty difficult to explain the plot without spoiling anything, you don't have a main objective other than exploration and alchemy. The events that happen while doing those are difficult to explain because I'd have to tell you what happens which spoils the plot of the game.
I've been playing this series since the first game released in the usa. So much has changed. And while yes alot has changed we saw the rise of alchemy in the first three then in mana-kelemia we saw the fall of alchemy. And these last games since then how the fall has affected the world and how it was forgotten then it's slow rebirth. Each story is short but the overall worlds story is truly grand. I think I still have the first three games in storage. People should see how the original synthesis system was. That was a pain and more like a slot machine then skill.

Not surprise the switch was not going to look like the pc and other consuls when comes to details and graphics of the game. I’m still getting the switch version just because these games I sadly don’t have time for when it comes sitting down and relaxing hours of gameplay. On the go fits my life style. Thanks for the review tho!
Same gonna get it on my switch
The whole "I wanna go on an adventure" plot that covered most of the first half really reminded me of the first Grandia game.
People seem to always judge games by how long the main story takes, but forget that the main story isn't all the game is.
Skyrim's main story can be beaten in like, 6 hours. 10 if you suck. But Skyrim was held, and is still considered by many, to be one of the greatest games of all time.
100% agree. Skyrim is THE GAME.
It's like a 3d version of mana khemia!
amazing extra thicc waifu aside, this is my favorite atelier game, period
I played 4 hours into it, and i'd say this game is absolute gorgeous! Always stuck gazing at the clear sky for couple of minutes especially in morning/day. The gameplay too has become faster than before, not as a common turn-based anymore. Characters and plot has more adventurous vibe than before.
If you love jrpgs, you have to pick this up.
I though I was the only one staring at the sky in the morning haha
@@alrrruunoda7955 You can literally even see the clouds moving. Why is that impressive? Cause it even shows up on the explorer map at times how the clouds float over the island like you a actually look from above.
Really happy to hear Ryza turned out well. I'm happy we were able to get 3 Atelier games in one year. Can't wait to play this in a couple hours when it unlocks on PSN. I went with the digital deluxe version.
Wait, a couple of hours?
@@sergeanttailsrko4589 doesn't unlock till 3am for me. Actually i mispoke its less than an hour.
@@Makoto03 Oh, thank god, I was sitting here at midnight hoping it would unlock my preorder. Didn't know I was gonna be waiting until 2.
ThiccMasterGeneral made me lol while watching the review!
*insert thigh based double entendre here*
But it's good to know this game is great, my wallet is hurting but I'm going to gladly keep it open just enough for this game
Great review. You are able to breakdown the different aspects of the game in a great way without rambling on. Not many can do that.
This game just jumped to the top of my list.
I'm glad I saw this review before I pulled the trigger on this game. As of this comment, the game is $30 on Steam, butI wanted a second opinion before I bought it. Will definitely pick this game up now. Thanks for this :)
Lord in heaven, look at that bulging shirt at 6:22.
Me looking at this 3 years later basically thinking okay im spending 200 minimum on the 3 games for this series
The first game is on sale in the eshop for switch
Ryza is a snack she's chun Li levels of thigh thickness
I think they should be the ones to make a Shield Hero game. The alchemy system could be used for a shield system. He could put materials into the shield to unlock new ones.
I'd totally be down for a Shield Hero game
@@joeldowell5059 Better not be a fighting game. Demon Slayer had so much gore potential
I am a long time Koei Tecmo customer for better or worse. This is my first Atelier game and I'm shocked just how high quality this game is on PC.
I looked up if I should play the game the first 30 seconds of your video game the answer of yes yes I should play the game thiiiiiiiiiighs
Is she a Paladin? Because those thicc thighs will save MANY lives.
FOR THE POWER OF THIGHS!
I've always questioned time limits in a game series designed for slow and relaxing
Game play
Hence why I'm a bigger fan of the mysterious trilogy as that game only
Had one very gracious time limit due to its open world nature
Hence why Ryza is more fun if harder to grasp at first
So many games right now and my backlog is crazy. Still need to finish Control, man of medan, judgment, yakuza 3-4, borderlands 3, assassins creed odyssey, the outer worlds, and now death stranding, star wars and need for speed are coming up this month. Let us breath! 😪
You should throw greedfalls in there. It was honestly a pretty good game and from your backlog list I feel you'd like it
That is literally how I saw this game. Just pure rule 34 service
This game has a story? Cool, I'll have to check it out when I'm done crafting. I've wasted hours at a time in this game just making cool stuff. Fantastic crafting system.
ryza extra thicc thigh is cool, but how about the brave decision done by koei to let one of the first companion to be a fricking berserker?
Never played an Atelier game before, but you review makes this one sound pretty interesting so ima have to try it out. Big thanx!!!
I'm about 6 hours in the underpowered but amazing Switch verson LOVIN IT!!!!!

Some of those aren't even by Japanese devs, also that is such a generic list of triple-a titles
didn't know you could pick both thicc thighs and thigh gaps
This is my first A.-t game, Once its finished I def wanna play more a.t games
Well yeah the game is pretty short since there is more DLC in the imported version I think, but it isn't a bad game though, I didn't really spend the entire time making space for items and still finished everything I wanted to do quickly.
The ps4 version looks almost as good as the PC version for those wondering considering Jay doesnt bother to mention it.
@@brosplit pretty much.. Rho graphics shouldn't make the game. -_-
@Lekzie69 everything is fixable on PC.
Whenever you hear somebody say shit like: "nah I go for couch option 10ft away on my 65" oled using a wireless controller instead of staring at the monitor in front of ur face"
Just ignore that person's opinion, they have never experienced PC gaming in their lives and are completely ignorant of it.
2:40 yeah, that’s a lot of character. Yeahhh
"There is no time limit..."
No need to go deeper, I'm already sold.
THICC THIGHS IS THE NUMBER 1 REASON I WANT TO PLAY THIS GREAT GAME
I also want the statue.
Just remember that the jiggle Physics only work on the pc Version 😔 so keep that in mind
"practical adventuring attire"
roger lapp wait what?! What about the PS4?!
Finally someone being honest about why they're interested in this series now. Lol.
Never played this series and i bought it today, don't know why maybe because those thigh lol
Last Atelier game I played all the way through was Atelier Iris. And I LOVED it. This one looks pretty good!
20h for game? I could watch Lila-sensei for 20h only :3
I bought deluxe this is my first atelier game so if I like ryza besides her thighs I'll buy the physical and atelier games for my og psvita as well
My tight wallet is split between this and digimon cyber sleuth. Man so many good games for these past few months.
I play both games u mention. An 'A' rated game. If u have tight wallet, prioritize ur playstyle. Well, if u're jrpg lover u will want both ofc. Savings my allowance after Lulua since I saw Ryza graphics.
Thanks for the review mate. Will likely pick it up once I'm done with Ni No Kuni.
Thicc thighs save lives !!!
Pre-ordered the game now, thanks for the review!
Playing it on PC and it sure looks great!
Jay I also made the mistake of getting the Switch version when I should have got the steam one, that realization is maxed out when you see the mods that are available :(
Yooooo! That intro!!
Just got my physical copy for the Switch tonight. Hoping all of the stuff that comes with the digital deluxe version will be avaliable for purchase separately.
Atelier iris will always be the best
When it comes to a Japanese style game and you want to get the most out of the graphics do not go switch. Figure will be common sense by now.
They said shes not supposed to be sexy... Suppose to been more thick as in hefty from farming, they said they did shorts instead of a skirt cause she can't farm in a skirt.. that said I miss time management
I love the track choice you chose to include in this game, it is a true banger
I just bought this in 2024 ... and Lila is ridiculous! I mean, wow. I am enjoying the story already and will pick u I thd next two as well on ps5.
Here watching because I've never even heard of this series, but noticed theres a sequel releasing soon.
THICC THIGHS SAVE LIVES
I will have to check this out sounds like the step for the series.
5:46 this blue blob is too cute to be harmed
Gues your team is made of psychopaths :)
Taking notes 📝
that snippet of the OST kind of sounds like something out of sword art online
Haven't watch the entire video but I already bought it just from the first 10 sec.
Really enjoyed this video! What are the games in the first 40 seconds or so? They look amazing but I don’t know their names 😂
