    Third: great vid, glad you got past that barrier! I would say playing dusk trilogy after meruru is a good idea considering Lulua may have some QOL features thanks to being one of the newer titles.

      the multiple endings aren't to scary, the generic ones are all pretty easy to get and you physically get to pick which one you want from a menu based on what you've passed the requirements for and the character specific ones become available from completing quests lines (and getting a good enough generic ending)

    I myself also started with the Arland games, although I ended up playing them in reverse order (Not counting Lulua since it wasn't out at the time), starting with Meruru Plus on the PS Vita (I got it when it was on sale and could only afford one game at the time). I ended up loving that game so much, and while you mentioned Atelier games have a low playtime... my initial playthrough for that specific game ended up being around 80 hours, although I was definitely being stingy with time when possible. I did go back and play the other two and enjoyed them both a lot, each one having a different feel, although at this point in time I do still need to finish Lulua.
    Also the ability the Plus versions of the games have to swap out music from older Atelier titles as well as a few other GUST games is something I really enjoy too, GUST has some crazy good music in their games.

      also the music stuff is very robust I like it alot, I never changed the music too much cos I wanted to stay faithful and also I was kinda spoilt for choice but I did swap out the rorona battle theme for the "new" rearrangement of it so it sounded a bit more punchier

      @jclosed2516 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Kraftium Personally I think the Mysterious trilogy is a great one. Especially now it is a 4-part series. You start with Atelier Sophie, and you can choose to play Atelier Sophie 2 after that, or go on with the other games (Atelier Firis and Atelier Lydie & Suelle) and play Atelier Sophie 2 after that. Keep in mind that Atelier Sophie 2 is much more modern in both graphics and game play. Technically the story of that game takes place in between Atelier Sophie and Atelier Firis, but in practice there is not much referring to any of those games, so you can play it any time after the first Atelier Sophie game.
      To react to your mentioning the Blue reflection games. Those games are very cozy indeed, but also have some tragic and sad moments. The story scene animation in the first game is a bit clumsy at times, but if you look over that, there is a very decent game. The second game (Blue Reflection: Second Light) is hands down the best of the two. Many of the things that I think where done very acceptable but also not perfect in the first fame, where hugely improved in the second game. It's a series well worth playing in my humble opinion.

    Even after finishing Elden Ring I still find hard to start any Souls-like.
    Stuff like Dead Rising and Atelier I'm either not fan of the time limit or too much depth into an system like crafting that I fear to fuck up if I don't understand it.

    The Ateliee series is crack. Once I started I couldn’t put it down. I used to play ages ago but didn’t remember it much. But I got Ryza 1 last year and o for some reason the synthesis just CLICKED for me. I spent soooo much time finding and collecting the best ingredients and making and remaking weapons and armor and got so OP. Then I’d do some side quests or progress the story and having that freedom was so much fun. There wasn’t some wild shit happening like the world ending, it’s just some kids who are bored and want some adventure and want some direction in life. Ryza is so likeable. Then I bought the entire Ryza series, Sophie 2, Lulua and then the Dusk trilogy will be next. I buy the Ultimate edition of all of them which gets expensive but I regret nothing. It seems with Ryza the Atelier series is finally getting more mainstream attention in the west and it’s well deserved.
    (Btw they’re on a super good sale now and until Feb 13 ((2024)) on the eshop and PlayStation store and I say this because I never see them on sale).

      @@Kraftium Could say that, but mostly because i have less and less time to play games anymore so that's why i like to save them until weekends if i can and play couple hours then.

      Don't play lulua after meruru.
      It takes place at least 10 years after meruru and it shows in everything from the world to the mechanics.
      I'd wait to play Lulua After at lease the Dusk Trilogy. (Ideally after the Dusk and Mysterious trilogy, but that might be too much)
      You'll get more out of Lulua if you space it after another series.

    also uhhh the atelier ports until Ryza were deeply scuffed AF, for the Arland games get a PS3 they are hella better in that console or if the DX ports then PS4. otherwise good games the crafting is much hella simplified in Ryza (kinda like how crafting in Mana Khemia is "dead simple"), knowing which items to keep for later and when to spend now are also some of the problem solving you need to do.
    for atelier games which are "ok": Mysterious (so far Sophie 2 is the most stable), Secret (all 3 games)
    scuffed AF the first Arland trilogy (I have yet to play Lulua on steam).
    passable but still has issues (Dusk)
    I have yet to purchase Marie remake so.... can't comment

      Oh its ok im aware of the technical foibles of gusts various port jobs
      It took alot of tweeking but i was able to get atelier ayesha looking almost perfect on PC, with a mixture of playing around in the nvidia control pannel and finding a mod that injects basic anti ailising into the game (as well as the good old playing at 4K and downsampling to 1440p to reduce the problems from the missing mipmaps"
      The newer games also have a universal mod called "atelier fix" that improves the CPU optimisation
      Got an extra 15 frames from it in sophie 2 on PC when testing

    "Cozy" and "comfy" have never described me. I've also never really cared for games that have mundane tasks in them, like watering plants or cooking. These games look like brain tumors to me.
    The closest I could get to this is Recettear. It looks like a cute game like this, but in reality it's a cutthroat bastard simulator that forces you to embrace your inner Ferengi. After playing Recettear, I would sell my own family members, one organ at a time, and a reasonable and fair mark-up. It's..... fun?
    If you get a chance, Recettear is on Steam. Highly recommended if you don't mind getting rid of all the mirrors in your home, since you won't want to look yourself in the eye after playing it. You'll do things you can't be proud of, but the profits will speak for themselves.
    Great review.

    • @100Servings
      @100Servings Год назад +1

      @@Kraftium The best part of Recettear is that you can actually skip all the dungeon exploring if you're a shrewd enough merchant. Just keep in mind that a single news announcement can force you to sell all of your inventory at a loss...
      So, at this point you have the following on your list of "Already own, should play":
      Evil Within
      Evil Within 2
