I just bought a new Fuso box truck with a 6.0 gas engine. Has a 1000 series Allison transmission. I had to get rid of my diesel box truck, the emissions issues/repairs were getting out of control. I only drive it about 20k miles per year, so even with the fuel savings I was spending more on repair, tows, rentals, downtime than I was saving. And I didn’t want to go the delete route. Don’t know all the differences that they can come with. But the transmission has a 5 year unlimited mile warranty, so I guess they believe in it.
It's only my opinion but to me it makes little sense to put a 10 speed anything behind the 6.7 Cummins. That engine builds immense torque because it's an inline six. The advantage, to me, in having fewer rations (Aisin 6 Speed) keeps the Cummins in it's torque curve which makes it very happy and "inline" with it's engineering. A ten speed gives more and closer ratios but never makes the engine really work, you rely more on Horsepower than torque. The Cummins 6.7, the HO in particular, loves to work. My 2020 RAM 3500 SRW with the HO and Aisin is a monster and still gets close to 20 MPG driving like I like to drive. Aggressively. Again, just me opinion.

I have a 2002 dodge with the 5.9 in it. It has the stock factory tranmission in it. I have had it rebuilt twice since I have had the truck. The stock transmission is truly not big enough. I have always wanted to put a Allison Transmission in it
Two rebuilds in 21 years and you are complaining. They are a wear item. Your existing transmission can be built to hold that little 5.9 no problem. That transmission was sorted before your truck was even built.

This would be really cool if it actually works like it's supposed to. My buddy tried the same conversion by a different company it was a horrible situation. No reverse lights, remote start didn't work, push button start didn't work, among several other things. The tuning never did get right even with multiple attempts from the company. CAC Conversions offers an Allison swap kit for a variety of different engine options including Cummins. I’ve heard great things about the swap as well as bad.
@@bb502cid Yeah I’ve tried to call those guys several times with questions about the swap and they never answer their phone, that right there, tells me there’s a problem.
@@chadhester265 Unless somethings happened at CAC, their customer service is on point and then some. I called in two years ago to inquire and they spend a good hour on the phone with me answering questions and explaining things. I ended up doing more research and determined there was an issue with this swap. The Allison trans tuning will not work with a high hp/torque Cummins. The lack of defuel between shifts will cause the trans to overheat and fail. However, it can be remedied by flashing a new tune in the TCM. I decided to hold off and last year came across a video from Firepunk in which they were removing CAC swapped 4th Gen Cummins truck for a 48. The trans overheated and failed. Per the video, it was the fourth failure, CAC warrantied the three previous failures and I’m sure they would have warrantied the fourth, but the owner decided to 48 swap instead. If you leave a message I’m sure they’ll call you back, KC is a wealth of knowledge. The only thing I don’t agree with is the TCM with Allison tuning. Because I don’t want to deal with any possible issues with an Allison swap and having 1k hp goals, I decided do a 48 swap last year.
Well now I’m considering maybe upgrading my truck, instead of buying the new 2022 Ram 3500 since they aren’t refreshing the body styling of the newer model like they did for the 1500. Plus I’m still going to need this upgrade for what I’m going to use my truck for

Well, about to find out what ATS is really about. My transmission threw P0700 & P0876 codes. My shop is telling me the problem is with the transmission itself. I’ll update as soon as I speak to ATS.
I can't wait to see more about this. Looking hard at this for my 2003 Ram 3500 HO Cummins w/ 48re. A couple of questions. For the driveline changes are the specs known ahead of time so it can be shopped out while doing the swap? 2003 didn't have a tap shifter. Can this be added? Last question, will this work with an exhaust brake? I would reallllllly love to have this capability towing my approx. 14K pound Alpenlite (lite is an inside joke) 5th wheel.
Just build the 48, not as smooth or efficient, but the engine will make more than enough power with some tuning to make up for the lack of gear ratios.

Just found your channel and great info. I own a 2012 4x4 auto trans. I have 56,000 miles on it. My question is I'm starting to notice on cold starts and when I put it in gear that it seems like it takes about 30 second to slowly move. I called the dealership and they said that's normal. What's your thoughts. Is my auto trans starting to go out or ?.
What about trans tunning when the truck goes through different tunes. The 68rfe is able to be tuned with the same tuner that is used for the ecm. Can the Allison be tuned with the same tuner for the ecm or will two tuners be required?
Need a video asap on comparison or break down of the 10L1000 "Allison" trans. I'm about to spend 100k on this and only trust you guys. Was the only reason I went with gm was the Allison now not there. Do I buy a ram with a Cummins now?
All of this complexity is hard for me to accept. Heavy duty trucks are for work so why can't we have a simple reliable manual transmission option? None of the current offerings are really designed for work trucks.
Hmm got to say you've definitely peaked my interest. I found a 68RFE rebuildable core about 6 months after getting our truck so have been planning on doing something just haven't decided if I wanted to build it myself or buy one already built. I certainly like the idea of getting away from the 68RFE but my question is what's the difference in cost if I'm looking for something that will handle say 600hp? We have a 2008 2500 Megacab 2wd. I'm not looking to race or anything else just thinking about adding compounds for lower EGT's and more power while towing circa 14-17k. Thanks for the information.
You can rebuild a 68rfe 5 times for what this costs. Add a billet torque converter and your all set! I'm at 237k on this rebuild with the billett converter. I like the 68 and I haul heavy weight all over the country. I love the work they are doing for sure! I would love to have the allison...every man's dream but knowing what I know, I wouldn't do it.

Only the 6.7s but any 6.7 truck from 2007.5 to now
@@gabranmitchell9722 I got in touch with ATS and apparently this will also bolt to a 12 valve through a 47RH/RE adapter plate. Time will tell. "A few more weeks" before it's available. But they also said that a month ago.

The 7.3 powerstoke would also benefit from the Allison transmission especially when there over a million of them around.
They typically don’t make enough power to kill transmissions🤣 These are generally focused on upgraded trucks making more power, you’re correct any older truck with a 3 or 4 speed auto would benefit from the better shift splits of a 6 speed auto.
Power stroke ain’t no Cummins though…
A built 4r100 is plenty good and in many ways is better than the Allison and a 5r110 or 6r140 would be far superior to the Allison
@@moparproud3978 The current wait time for a built 4R100 is over 6 months now, for a BTS or Sam Wyse. I'd say there are plenty of trucks that could benefit from an Allison conversion!
Looks awesome! Will the stock exhaust brake work as well?
I just bought a new Fuso box truck with a 6.0 gas engine.
Has a 1000 series Allison transmission.
I had to get rid of my diesel box truck, the emissions issues/repairs were getting out of control.
I only drive it about 20k miles per year, so even with the fuel savings I was spending more on repair, tows, rentals, downtime than I was saving.
And I didn’t want to go the delete route.
Don’t know all the differences that they can come with.
But the transmission has a 5 year unlimited mile warranty, so I guess they believe in it.
Holly hell the amount of money it cost to do a conversation…..🤯
So how does the Allison compare to the Aisin?
@@davidlariviere7784 Hmmmm.... He said its an Allison 1000, which is a "6 SPEED Transmission"!!! Not sure where you got that it a 10 speed!!??

I need one for my 7.3. Better power, performance, and mpg.

How much is it setting you back?
Well in stock form they told me 10300, but im having mine upgraded to handle a 1000 Hp.

This would be really cool if it actually works like it's supposed to. My buddy tried the same conversion by a different company it was a horrible situation. No reverse lights, remote start didn't work, push button start didn't work, among several other things. The tuning never did get right even with multiple attempts from the company. My buddy finally just gave up and got rid of the truck. Hopefully this is a true plug-and-play system that actually works as this video makes it seem. Also hoping this isn't some 15 or $20,000 modification. Hopefully not any more than about 10,000, and even that is pretty high.

Pretty self explanatory to anyone, just look at how much more beefy the internals of the Allison. Crazy when you lay it all out side by side.
Where do I sign up?!? My 68 is ready to give out.
Well was looking into a g56 swap but after seeing this if the price is right, this would be an amazing upgrade, also would there be just the bell housing and wiring harness for sale? And when you say a “stock swap” will drive shafts need shortened or lengthened? And tuning how would that go with it
You mentioned in the banks video that the Allison shifts different from the 68. Will I notice a difference if I swap and go to the Allison?
Gonna shift faster
Would love to see a 7.3 conversion kit for the Allison 1000 next from you guys!
The 68 is a good transmission if you use it correctly. Its single clutch in 5th and 6th and not made for big power.

I bought a 1994 Chevy K2500 Detroit Diesel. This is going to be a 5 year project. I plan to replace the motor as it has some cracks in the head and block. My current plan is a new Detroit Diesel and I'm not sure if I should put an Allison trans or a new 4L80 (the original 4L80 is currently in it)...my plan is to produce around 450 HP and be a daily driver. I do love Cummins, but I've heard it is not an easy conversion for this body of truck. I plan to bulletproof the Detroit Diesel. I am 62, so this will be my last truck and I want it a solid daily driver I'll never have to worry about...any recommendations?

pretty new stuff i think
Plus I’m still going to need this upgrade for what I’m going to use my truck for
RAM in 2022 has already announced to be moving over to Allision for the 2500-3500
Great explanation on the two transmissions for those of us who aren’t trans techs. Cheers from Anthem, AZ.!
Can you do a Allison vs Aisin video
Hello just watched your Allison. 68 swap. Is this just for 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive .will the 4wheel transfer case work with the Allison. What model Allison is this. Have 07 Ram looking into getting into Hot shot . Have gotten some Quotes from ATS on the 68. This is looking and sounds like the way to go. Thank you for reply. Will be making call to speak with sales about swap.
I have a built 48 from ats with copilot in a 03 3500 ho single wheele does great broke the first one by not spending the money for billet input shaft it twisted off taking out tourque converter and oil pump of course they wouldn't warrenty it cause the input shaft was stock so they told me if I bought a billet shaft theyd replace the converter and oil pump but i think I got a billet pump now too so i spent 1100 on that but it was they only way they would check the whole thing out they said if i put a stock one back in for 75 bucks it was what it was so I spent the money had the tranny checked completely it was all good all together i have about 8000 in a 48re and it does pretty well its good for drag racing being a 4 speed with OD it pulls good and is prolly a few thousand cheaper then an allison conversion I bet thats close to 10000 and all I have in my truck is smarty the old one with tnt tune and 125 hp industrial injection injectors air dog 150 and the ats tranny and it was enough to break stock input shaft I didn't think I would but it is a cummins so spend the extra bucks and save the month plus of down time it literally lasted less then 20000 miles before I broke it now its good for like 1300 hp so I should be good for a while and idk how many miles i have on it but its doing good

Sounds like pump failure in progress. Check your fluid levels at operating temp. It will do this if low on fluid.
Can you please post when this will be available?
What about trans tunning when the truck goes through different tunes. The 68rfe is able to be tuned with the same tuner that is used for the ecm. Can the Allison be tuned with the same tuner for the ecm or will two tuners be required?
