Didn’t change the lifters?
I am not vibing with the idea of the Over The Air ECU updates. They could remotely neuter your truck if there is another emissions scandal.
Granted I know they have been having issues with the grid heater lately.
I still don't like that they switched to glow plugs.
I mean, banks accidentally came up with a fix for it.
BD has a better fix that doesn't cost a fortune and retains the grid heater.
did he really say emissions are important for diesels? I beg to differ sir
You can have the best engine to talk about all you want, but until you make your truck affordable and not overpriced then buyers might consider 😊
Thank the epa and carb for driving prices up. Increased cost associated with engineering and the new warranty policies forced by the epa means the cost will be passed to the consumer. Us.
I didn't hear him say that if the pump fails the fuel system won't get full of metal shards and wipe your injectors out I sure hope that was the upgrade it's pretty sad if they didn't Especially considering you can go out and buy bypass kits to avoid this disaster if the pump starts to fail.
But will it run for 300k miles without costing $20k above regular maintenance expenses?
Lifter failure is still issue, and 100k price tag I’m gonna keep my 2012
And now they will want 100,000.00 for them after rebates
Dont like the sound of over the air updates. But this does look like a good straight 6... Unlike some released recently. Did they say anything about the 6.7 octane Tim?
They learned after nobody brought their trucks in for the EPA BS.
They didn’t say on octane.
@@Pickuptrucktalk hopefully it makes its way into these trucks!
FYI, either the audio or the video is inverted left to right.
I don’t like the idea of any manufacturer being able to access the software of a vehicle over the air. I do like the filter location.
My guess is the EPA is requiring this now for emission update requirements.
@ Ford & GM have had OTA updates on their trucks for years. There are new requirements for "increased security" in ECM/PCM's when EPA '27 goes in effect.
Still no changes with the lifters
I get you can't trash RAM to their face but to say there was some controversy with the CP4 is like pissing on a man's foot and saying that they had a spill.
Let the Hot Shot and Camper Transport guys decide if they are improved. Then, only then will the truth set their struggling dealerships and over packed lots free!
What about the lifter issue did you go back to flat tappet??
Great video but I would like to hear if they updated the lifters.
I have an idea, make it last more than 100k without having a failure again. That’s the Cummins I want to own. Glow plugs and an all new CP4 aren’t getting me excited. Use a commercial grade Cummins again, quit chasing Ford’s power numbers and make it bulletproof.
I remember the good old days when diesels didn't have an EGR system. I'm doing just fine with all my pre-EGR diesels and this new junk isn't on my list. Keep it.
I'm actually not angry with the manufacturers. I'm angry with the EPA and the rest of the bureaucratic idiots who are willingly killing industry.
Does the fuel pump killer test involve running straight gasoline through the system without destroying the pump? If so that’s good but potentially terrible for the rest of the motor
No mention of the fact the power stroke is still donkey stamping them with 500hp and 1200ftlbs?
I like the new fuel and oil filter set up that’s about it.
What about the lifter problem?
Wow, there is a lot of hate - love here for Cummins / RAM.
Many would buy it again despite a litany of issues and complaints.
Never needed a diesel truck so perhaps I missed something.
Very disappointed they went to glow plugs, one of the things I really love about my Cummins is the grid heater, much more maintainable and works great in the supercool -40
That’s exactly the opposite of what the engineers said.
@@Pickuptrucktalk a Cummins with a grid heater hands down starts better than any diesel with glow plugs. ask any tech that works on diesels how awful corroded duramax or powerstroke are to service.
@ All I’m saying is Cummins and Ram engineers told me the exact opposite message.
@@Pickuptrucktalk All I'm saying is I live in Alaska and most men drive Cummins because they always start at -40
Ask about lifters, I heard they upgraded them
Catalyst next to turbo will kill it fast, glow plugs are crap, aluminum intake will crack.. I just don’t see the longevity in these motors … glow plugs hell after my 6.7 dies it’ll be my last Cummins but I love my 19 but next will be a duramax
I've got a 17 cummins and a 23 Duramax. It has a DOC on the back of the turbo, glow plugs and an aluminum intake lol. Honestly wished for another cummins truck but the 5th gens are mostly crap from the start so duramax it was. At only 56k miles it's been in the shop for a month waiting for exhaust manifolds and up pipes. All are on back order with GM and nearly impossible to get. Seems it's a shit sandwich any which way anymore.
My duramax has been a nightmare since 50,000…. I think they all have to have this crap to meet emissions.
Glow plugs have been on diesel engines for eons because they WORK! That’s stupid point #1! Aluminum intakes and even plastic intakes have been on vehicles for eons with no issue! That was dumb point #2! And the duramax has all the above which makes all your points stupid!
The Duramax has literally all of those things you're complaining about and yet doesn't have issues with them.
You mean to tell me you had the chief engineer in front you and you never bothered to ask anything about the most popular topic on that engine, the biggest failure of the hydraulic lifters??? And you never mentioned it???? Omg!!!! Hottest topic in the entire Cummins world. Lifters lifters lifters!!!!! Com-on-man!!!
Is we need to do an “over the air” delete
it looks like they centered the turbo on the manifold again
Over the air ECU updates, no thanks. Sounds like this won’t be able to be tuned at all now. Even though I’m not interested in a 3/4 to diesel, this will trickle down and I’m not looking forward to it.
It'll be like the L5P where you have to replace all the modules in the truck to be able to tune it.
ford & gm have been doing OTA updates for a while, now.
All this is done for emissions. Glow plugs are a terrible idea .And all that heat on the rear of the turbo thats a great idea ! And an aluminum head way to go !
Head not aluminum that is the bolt on air intake. When you see the back you can see the cast head.
aslong as its not going to choke up on soot and do the usual stupid stuff it will do just fine
cant wait to see the new ram in australia
Would have been helpful and informative to, maybe, show the new external injectors and how all that's routed up top...... Just ya know, throwing that out there
That’s an Iveco w a Cummins badge
Push rod motor?
Thank you EPA for making the world worse, year after year🤡💩
So now you can shut the truck down remotely? And track it?
Thats what we can do with heavy equipment now.
Of course, and report you to the authorities for everything you do. Don't you just love freedom?
Glow plugs? WTF
This guy is a joke. They changed bullet proof straight cut gear for flimsy helical gear that will shred after warranty 😂 like that damned roller lifter and all that for reducing noise level 🤦. Just do something reliable
Sounds like more big tech control to me. I’ll stick with my 12 valve
I’ll take that 85 Prospector with the non intercooled 12V in the background before I’d buy anything with that new 6.7 in it. Not feeling the design of that new one other than that new gear cut.
They need a filter after the fuel pump, or it just junk.
Over the air connection is very disturbing.
The converter being next to the turbo is an LOL...
Yes we know the boost pressure comes from the turbo 😂😂😂
Better improvement is deleted the dpf system.
OTA engine updates? No thanks, I don't want the gov't forcing some emissions update down my throat in a few years with no say on my part.
More heat closer to the engine not a good thing in my opinion
Unless these come with speed of air pistons. We don’t want it
What do you mean by reliable? lol
All those nice upgrades and absolutely no payload on 2500's to do anything with the engine. Ford and GM updated their 3/4 ton payload numbers a long time ago. I feel like Ram took one step forward and two steps back.
My wife's 2024 Ranger has a higher payload rating than some 2500 Rams. Quite sad.
I heard 2025 went back to flat tap lifters, any truth to that??
