Hey Mark! Thank you for the tour, my wife and I enjoyed the video. We like how the rig looks and all your upgrades. My wife liked the look of the canvas and snaps. We have a 2003 E250 cargo van and we're making a camper. Thanks again for taking the time to make this video, keep up the good work!
Smart man, sharp van. Great review. I have a 1998 Ford 250E cargo van 3 years living in it. Trying to make it happen. I am disabled, but I use LP cooking and heat . Coleman , mr buddy. No problem. You have to be very very careful. Trying to live right. No drug or drinking or smoking. I only wish it was 4x4. But yea it’s cool 😎 take care dude.thanks for your input 👍🇺🇸
OMG I love that van...I'm a small lady 5'4 I'd sleep in the overhead compartment make the bed area a good size kitchen/table area. I'd get a Natures Head Compositing toilet, glam up the bath/shower area have a cook top electric/sterno s'mores heat...There is so much space to play with...Awesome job! My future retirement home LOVE IT!
Older Coachmen Class B Camper Vans are great. I have one. I was good to see the video about your 1994. I have a 1996 Coachmen Class B on a GMC chassis - M19-RD - (19' with Rear Dinette). Similar to yours, but different in some areas. All original with 50k miles. Still has the "beautiful" green interior. Thanks for you video. I did appreciate it, even though I went off about the propane systems removal.
Nice job brother! The door panels are especially nice! Thanks for the info!!! I am rebuilding a 1994 Pleasure-way! I have had several RV'S so my job is pretty easy but I am going to rebuild all you have and more ! on only a few dollars! My concern is going to be to do as nice a job as you have and more for many fewer dollars. I spent $1,500 on my rig and I gure with another 1500 hundred in dollars and some FUN elbow grease, I will be able to get $7,500 out of mine easy!!!
I actually saw your video before I got mine. Made me want one. It's perfect for 1-2 people. Unfortunately we have 3 so I'm building my own camper this time.
I noticed the front plate step... really great for cleaning the windshield. E40D .. use under drive (Not overdrive, but the gear under with OD turned off, this is 1 to 1) at around town and easy accelerations... and learn to use the OD without putting the foot into it much and never force the downshift, do it by the button. Then use a transmission temperature gauge. Then you can save that trans for a long time. Keep the fluid pink and sweat smelling, never light brown or brown ... I was a Ford factory trained tech back in those days.
Nice build. Only thing be I'd have a problem with is where the toilet sets. Who wants to see a toilet when your sitting outside a beautiful ocean view. But hey what ever works for you.
I don't watch TV when I'm home lol. I hate TV. I use my laptop to watch RUclips videos and that's it. But if I had a TV, I wouldn't have it over the sink. As finicky as these new TV's are, the dampness of having it over the sink is eventually going to cause it to fizz out. I'd also ditch the microwave as I don't use those, either. I'd use the space to get a larger fridge as I love salads so have to have my veggies. But I'd have two spaces beneath the fridge...one for a drawer for a pull out two burner cook top and my toaster oven in a space below that. I'd put a regular twin mattress on the couch base (or have one custom made, I hear they're not that expensive) and just make a cushion for the back and two "roll" pillows for the arms when I want to make it into a couch. What about storage below the couch? I do love the little tub/shower back there. That's my fave thing. Have you ever considered a cassette toilet? It has a removable tank so you can empty anywhere. I love those. Anyway this was one of the nicer vans I've seen. Congrats.
Watch out with the heavier rear sway bar. It may stop body roll on mild corners, but any stiffening of the rear suspension leads to more chance of the vehicle oversteering. The big issue with these generation vans, particularly the 15 passenger/extended models, was oversteer leading to roll overs. It's a balancing act between over and under steer.
Hi. I love your class B Chinook. Question. I'm going to be looking at a 1995 Chinook soon. I really don't want to use propane either because of what you said. I've always hated dealing with propane. Do you remember how much the refrigerator you ended up buying cost? Did it run on electric or battery? The RV I'm going to see has full solar panels on top which I'm so thrilled about. This will be my very first RV to live in full time but staying semi close to home base (kids and grandkids) I will be RVing alone. Thanks. Kim
I always like your videos, so thank you for sharing. I just bought a 2003 e350 extended I am going to convert in to an entertainer/camper van. Trying to decide if I want a high top on it or not, Humm. I hope it's okay to ask you some questions now an then, I think you have some great ideas. So, where did you get the ford extended side mirrors? Bone yard or order them? Off a truck right? Thank you, James-
Nice coach. Great job sorting it out. Dying from a propane leak is like dying from carbon monoxide poisoning. You really have to screw up for that to happen. You can just as well die in a fire caused by an electrical short. In any case, the propane story sounds slightly fishy because propane is a heavy gas that stays close to the floor. It would take a lot of gas for it to reach someone asleep 3' off the ground. And even the smallest spark caused by static electricity will turn the RV into a 1000 lb bomb.
Hey JY, great vids, love your style-However I just bought a '98 version of this rig, coach seems identical- couple questions(2). 1- What is behind the fabric and matting on door panels, something reusable or is just something to use as a template,I don't want to redo with fabric, and 2- Whats under the carpet in the galley area? Any kinda usable surface( i'm thinking on using linoleum) or is it just carpet foam liner on wool, seems flat enough for some type of underlay flooring. Fingers crossed you say lauan in both cases, and not cardboard. Just got rig home yesterday, mind is spinning with ideas- but rain(SoFla) and work(Ma Bell) haven't let up enough to check for my own self. Thanks, Bill
Hey Bill, If i remember correctly some of the door panels had wood lauan for the flat panels but plastic for anything with a curve and I do remember having to pull staples from the floor to remove the old carpet so I think you are good on underlayment for the floor. I heard you about the rain. It's been pouring here for 3 days now. What engine did you get in your 98?
@@JYDOG Thanks for quick response, it's 97 built E250, coach built in 98, 5.4L Triton, 68k- paid 12k. @@mudhole9 We sold ours and built my Box Truck Camper. 5.4 2 valve is a good engine. Sounds like you got a good deal. Here is what I built to replace it ruclips.net/video/z2nzSICDTs0/видео.html
I totally agree with you about propane in an older RV etc... I love propane, but so not trust the the RV ... so I never use it in an older RV, or Travel Trailer either. I also had a friend die in his RV because of a faulty gas stove.
Nice rehab... I say get a gas alarm and leave the propane though. What Roku package did you get that offers Netflix, Hulu, RUclips etc. I seem only to find Hulu.
I know economically propane makes a lot of sense but I don't feel comfortable with it in my house or my RV. Just something else for me to worry about at night. You can just download and install the Netflix, Hulu, RUclips etc channels. Maybe the one you are looking at hasn't been downloaded yet.
I currently had my 99 Coachmen 19RD (5.4 V8) converted to 4x4 with the OEM 3.73 gears changed to 4.10 ratio. Did you find the larger LT265/75R 16 tires lugged your engine? I am wanting to try that same size on mine.
It's called getting a propane leak alarm. Standard equipment. Quite paranoid. Your not going to get much for it between the high mileage and ruining it by removing the propane system. Short sighted.
+Jay Gold Propane tanks have a limited life span and have to be inspected and replaced periodically if they pass inspection they are only good for about 5 years after that. I purchased a brand new safe T alert LP and carbon monoxide detector from amazon and it was bad out of the box. They replaced it free of charge but what do you do the time it doesn't work and you have a gas leak? I just think electric strip heater or a diesel heater is much safer. The hot water heater was easily converted to electric with a $60 kit. An engine heat exchanger is another great way to heat water for taking a shower. We have very efficient 12v refrigerators they did not have back in 1994. You may look at removing propane and replacing it with modern alternatives as destroying the value but I don't think I will have a problem getting book value even with 200k well maintained miles on it. The new class B's start at 80K and go up. This will do the same thing for 8k. I appreciate your thoughts on this but I can sleep better at night knowing I don't have a propane leak.
I apologize for my bluntness. It looks like that you have maintained this very well, I am in the process of buying a 1995 Coachman and appreciate your upgrades and insights. I especially like the Hellwig sway bars.
+Jay Gold I'm putting this one up for sale today if you know anyone who is interested I'm asking 8K the wheels, tires and swaybars have been removed and replaced with e350 parts. I have also re installed the propane tank. I just completed an 1800 mile trip in it to the Florida keys two weeks ago.
JVDOG, you still out there? I just subscribed. I have a question if I may. I have a chance at getting a decent van like yours (1994, or 1995) and I'm wondering what the --- "low and high end" --- pricing might be. As I type this I won't find out until next week. If you could give me a "ballpark" figure I'd greatly appreciate it! Thank you JYDOG.
Regarding propane systems in RV's. They have been used safely and effectively for decades. Are they 100%? Of course not. But what is? However, their track record is excellent. Most RV's manufactured since the 80's have Propane Leak Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Leak Detectors installed in the factory. My 1996 Coachmen Class B M19-RD has both of these. And then there are also Smoke Detectors in most RV's. Did you remove these safety devices from your RV? Lot's of things can be dangerous and cause deaths. RV gasoline generators can leak and catch fire and kill RV occupants. It's been known to happen occasionally. About as frequently as propane leaks that cause death. Did you remove the generator? I've owned four used RV's that were 20 to 25 years old with the original propane tanks. The tanks themselves rarely go bad. It is the fittings and lines that need to be inspected periodically and checked for leaks (use a liquid leak detector on all the fittings or use an electronic propane leak detector). Easy fix to replace fittings and lines. It's called "maintenance". No different than inspecting your brakes and having the pads, rotors or brake lines replaced. Simple and basic "maintenance" like any system in any vehicle (car, truck, RV, motorcycle, airplane, etc.). There are more deaths in airplanes from crashes (more than RV propane deaths), yet I bet you still fly. And 40-50 thousand people die every year from auto accidents in the US, yet I still drive my car, motorcycle and RV. Sorry for the rant but your response to one propane death by gutting the propane systems (stove, furnace, water heater, refrigerator) from from 1994 Coachmen was a definite over-reaction. Resale value was significantly reduced. Did you also remove all of the propane systems from your other RV? The box-camper that you mentioned?
+Dave Wish No problem man, I'm not anti propane. I just don't trust a 32 year old propane system with my families life. There comes a time to to replace a system such as this and I do not intend on cooking in my rv so that eliminates the stove, the hot water is easily converted to electric and a diesel heater such as espar airtronic d2 diesel heater. See video below. ruclips.net/video/hUKeprinFBI/видео.html if you haven't had your propane tank looked at within 12 years of the date stamped on it you may want to look into that. www.propane101.com/propanecylinders.htm#cylinderrecertification Your probably right about the statistics but why not take better route if it is available and you have to spend the money anyway to make things safe? I just want to avoid a tragedy like this in the link below. vogeltalksrving.com/2014/12/father-daughter-died-of-co-poisoning-in-rv/ The box camper i am building will not have any propane I am looking into using the espar diesel heater in it. Great van, I plan to use a Nissan cargo van and convert it to a camper, any advice. by the way what kind of gas millage do you get ? the Nissan will do 15 mug which is not that good.
Yes the 12v fridge is very efficient and does well off of solar but you would also need a battery bank when there is no sun. Diameter? Do you mean length? Sorry but I forgot that dimension and have sold the camper or I would measure it for you.
JYDOG Yeah I meant length or basically was it a full sized bed because I'm 5'11 & a 1/2 as of today & I like those Coachmen's & Thanks for the response.
JYDOG didn't you mean to say your solar provides enough charge to the battery bank to allow the 12v refrigerator to operate on the batteries with no problem.
Use a propane fridge for boondocking. You can run a 6 cubic foot fridge on a 20-lb tank for maybe three months. They basically run on the fumes. Run your stove and water heater on propane as well. Pretty much everything else can be 12V battery power. A 12V compressor fridge sucks up the juice. Drain your battery bank in a heartbeat. And whattya gonna do if you hit two weeks of solid overcast? Rain and snow? You can't keep running your generator indefinitely.
I just got back from looking at a 1995 Ford Coachmen. Terrible. The steering was so sloppy on it to the point of being dangerous to drive. Solid 5 degree turning in either direction non response of the steering. He said "All the Fords drive like that". Does yours have sloppy steering?
No not 5 degrees. It is responsive, but be aware that the more weight you have extended beyond the rear axle on a van will also make it kind of wag. Extended vans with a generator, hot water heater and holding tanks beyond the rear axle will not be like a shorter van. Come drive mine and see what you think.
Does anyone out there in Comment Land know --- "approximately" --- what a "decent" 1994 Ram 3500 Coachmen sells for in 2020??? I might have a change at getting one, but I'm having a difficult time coming up with a "number" before I enter into some kind of negotiation with the owner which will happen in about a week from the date I'm typing this. I'd truly appreciate any feedback!!!
I have 13,500 btu I am wondering if yours would be smaller?? I wouldn't be interested in paying a whole lot for it, but if you would let it go fairly cheap I might be interested, and the stove might interest me too.
+JYDOG no I don't have any of those just '09 Nissan Altima with 85,000 miles on it since it ain't what u looking for I'm of luck, love your camper build keep up the good work 👍👍👍👍👍
Yeah, I agree. It would be better to stick with the propane and supplement with an induction hotplate and LED lighting - the hotplate you could use if you're staying some place with electric, but the propane lets you stay anywhere you choose.
Who needs a 2021 rv? Great content. Love the tv and using the hot spot your phone!

ruclips.net/video/dMBQZCrx40A/видео.html
I still have all of the propane equipment if the new user would like to put it back.
I would have kept the Green, but man overall this is nice.
Sweet! My dream is to one day get me one of these...sigh! one day. Did you sell it yet??
Yes, sorry I sold it a few months ago.
Nora Steel I have one for sale!
Great van, I plan to use a Nissan cargo van and convert it to a camper, any advice. by the way what kind of gas millage do you get ?
the Nissan will do 15 mug which is not that good.
My 94 coachmen gets about 12mpg.
Can you run that 12v fridge off solar panels & question #2 the diameter of the bed for the Coachmen Model? Thanks for the Vid !
It was pretty close to a full size bed. I slept on the middle part that folded out so my feet could hang over if needed. I'm 5'11 also.
JYDOG Thanks..
JYDOG didn't you mean to say your solar provides enough charge to the battery bank to allow the 12v refrigerator to operate on the batteries with no problem.
Hey budd, I have he same one. Where do you find the ford eco olive skinny battery for this one?
I just bought one. Do you know where the deep cycle battery is?
Do those sway bars help in the wind? I have a rt 190 pop.2008
Yes they do. They are not perfect but you definitely can tell a difference when they are off.
Where are you located? I may be interested. I think that this has been maintained for its high mileage. I'm in N.Y.
Griffin GA. 30224
How many seat belts do these have?
R u going to be putting ur van up for sale? Just wondering.
My dream home
do you still have it? are you selling it or have you sold it? i'm interested.
Sorry it has been sold.
How much did it cost you? Thinking about getting me one.
They run about 6k for one with high mileage. The price goes up from there as the mileage gets lower and year gets newer.
how much would you consider if you sell it I have a moderate budget
Here is what I have it currently listed for.

Is the van still for sale. How much? Where are you located?

Sorry but it has been sold.
Sorry man, get a carbon monoxide detector, don’t destroy the resale value! Leave the cook stove, I wouldn’t buy it without a kitchenette!
the tvs made for boats are major efficent my bud has 1 and we can watch shows all night with no prob it draws almost nothing
The
So could someone hook up the fridge to Solar Power instead of running the Generator all the time, to save it for emergencies?
Yes as long as it is a 12volt fridge with low amperage draw. You will still need a battery when the sun is not available.
Hey, maybe I can make a new video about the things you asked about. What do you think?
That's okay. I don't need the video. If we could talk by message and phone thats fine.
Is it still available for sale?
Sorry I sold this a long time ago
Does anyone out there in Comment Land know --- "approximately" --- what a "decent" 1994 Ram 3500 Coachmen sells for in 2020??? I might have a change at getting one, but I'm having a difficult time coming up with a "number" before I enter into some kind of negotiation with the owner which will happen in about a week from the date I'm typing this. I'd truly appreciate any feedback!!!
Probably 12,000-18,000 depending on mileage and condition!
@@Tamarascull Thank you Tamara for taking a moment to reply. I really appreciate it!
Saludos desde México. Cuánto vale
What did you do with that old propane furnace and the stove, do you still have it?
I've still go the furnace and maybe the stove.
I have 13,500 btu I am wondering if yours would be smaller?? I wouldn't be interested in paying a whole lot for it, but if you would let it go fairly cheap I might be interested, and the stove might interest me too.
would you consider a trade for your class b
Maybe if you have a 2008+ f 150,250 or 350
+JYDOG no I don't have any of those just '09 Nissan Altima with 85,000 miles on it since it ain't what u looking for I'm of luck, love your camper build keep up the good work 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the offer, that would probably be a close trade I'm just not in the market for a sedan and thanks for watching.
ok just thought i ask
How. Much i have about 5 k to spend
i want this van.
Revolzz Atrocity I have one nearly identical for sale.
is this video for real brah ???
is it avail?
No Sorry it has been sold.
I stopped at ripping out all the propane.
Pretty dumb of you to rip out all the propane appliances and fridge lmao you ain't gonna get nearly as much cash for it in resale now
Yeah, I agree. It would be better to stick with the propane and supplement with an induction hotplate and LED lighting - the hotplate you could use if you're staying some place with electric, but the propane lets you stay anywhere you choose.
He didn't buy it and customize it just to resell it.
RVbilly
You like to use the word "dumb" don't you?
Would you ever let girls in there?
TV will eat your data on your phone in one hour
Ur camra and upper sleeping bed are very bad
That looks like "Elvis Travels" Lisa Marie....not good ! lol
Can't argue with that. Ha ha
your 1st van was better ...
JYDOG. I sent you a message with my phone number.
You talk to damn much
Very nice set up
Thank you
