- Skoolie Sound is the combination of location sound recordist Alison Grayson and her 1990 GMC Vandura mini school bus conversion, Bessie the Land Cow. Check out our little tour of Bessie, and see how to live in a 90 square foot bus!
It's somewhere to live, self contained, and very ambitious. I like it.
Wow! extremely impressive. Your knowledge of solar, waste management and overall understanding of living simple is amazing! It has taken me three years of research to get to your level.
One of the most enjoyable visit of tiny dwelling, because you only told us what was needed and you kept it fun & light, and your voice is liquid gold! Thanks for a great tour (=
Love your Tiny School Bus RV. You have been so creative, not just with functionality but you have accomplished a space you clearly put your personal stamp on, love your décor.
Thank you! It's not for everyone but I love it!
Great job on your bus! Brings back lots of memories. I lived in a 28 passenger bus in the early 70's (yes, I am an old hippie) for five years and never had to pay rent. It was great and you have used a few of the same ideas I did. Course that was before solar was a reality, but I did heat with an antique wood stove. Thanks for the video and I look forward to more posts.
+Michael Bordeaux Thanks! Any chance you have photos of your bus online?
wow very well done video tour of Bessy the bus not bad set up I got a cargo van turning it to rv for my fun hobbies and I love vans full size ones lol keep up the good work
Nicely done! Thank you for the tour!
We just bought the same kind of bus yesterday, for my daughters summer project...it will be exciting to get this project going. Thanks for the ideas!
+Edwin Mendija Awesome! Post photos when it's done!
Really like your bus and your ambition to do all the work that you have done on it, also I think that you are VERY well spoken and you have a beautiful voice. I usually don't leave comments but I'm very impressed with the hard work that you've obviously have put into your bus-RV. Thanks.
This is wonderful hon. My dream but I'm getting old quick. You've done a fantastic job! Happy Trails and always stay safe!
Such a joy to listen to a well presented video. Great little bus.
Very informative. You have really done it right for off grid and environmentally friendly.
love everything you've done to your place! I admire your creativity, hard work, and freedom. Many blessings and thanks for sharing!
Thank you! I just put out a new video if you're interested in the kitchen upgrades :)
You seem like a great person and I appreciate your sharing on here. Love seeing all the possibilities out there and what people have found that works best for them. Definitely gets my creative juices flowing.
I love your conversation, love your ideas. Bless you! C.d.
Allison, you're awesome. I'm so impressed with your setup.
I'm loving your layout. I am based in Washington and I love the bathroom set up. I want a short bus more than a van.
+MissLara84 Thanks! Vans get better gas mileage, but you can stand up in a bus, and they're cuter :-P
Are you going to be making more videos? I'll be mostly on my own when I finally get my van. My van will be a high top. and I'm only 5'2", so I don't need a lot of height. I'll have my daughter with me for short trips. I'm going to have a pull down bed for her, and for extra storage.
Skoolie Sound probably a taste more space all around The perfect size: not too small not too big
I'll be putting out another video soon! I travel for work in the summer so bus life goes on the backburner ;)
MissLara84...me too, but the gas mileage a bus gets worries me. I just don't know if I can afford it & is a bus welcome at a RV park? My friend is a school bus driver & she says they ALL (buses) get very bad mileage, something like 8 MPG! Wow, do you realize just how far you CAN'T get with that kind of mileage? LOL Judie
Nice job on the bus and thanks for sharing your work with all of us! Stay safe out there.
Great conversion! Thanks for the tip on the fringe. Cheers 🍻
Great job! I love her! Thanks for sharing... 👌😊
Your cat looks JUST like mine. With his markings and fur coloring in exactly the same places. Freaking me out!
Your cat must be awesome then!
Good for you!!You are an awesome young woman. What a fun home.
Wow! excellent video..and very nice work on your converted school bus! Take care..
Thank you for this tour! I'm converting a 1967 Clark Cortez into a tiny home and love seeing what can be done with tiny spaces!
Awesome! Best of luck with the conversion!
Excellent video presentation. It is clear through out your entire presentation that you have a great deal of " Self- Confidence" which has contributed not only to your success with converting this mini bus into a Tiny Home but I am certain your success in many other aspects of your life. I look forward to other presentations you may have in mind to make. Great Work ,,, give yourself a well deserved pat on the back!
Very nice. You did a great job. Looking forward to more videos.
I love you set up, looks perfect for 1-2 people. Very cozy and comfy
Thank you!
you certainly have given me inspiration to not plumb my soon to be conversion....love that you speak about details...first video i have found that shares many tips on what to do what to buy. Thanks
Thanks for watching, and happy to help!
Well done young lady. Safe travels. I use to drive a bus just like yours.
Love your outfitting choices and explanations!
Well done! Beautiful personalized bus. Also the video looks great. A relieve I haven't got to watch and listen to those boring cross fades other people feed me with! And ... not to forget: It sounds great! Something almost everybody tends to forget or are oblivious about how important that is! Here one can see that sound-engineering is a profession. I think you record a lot of voice-overs of different people aswell, because your narrating style sounds also very professional. I'm looking forward to see and hear more of your bus-life. Keep up the good working!!
+Serge Götz Thank you! If nothing else I promise these videos will always sound good ;)
You did a great job. And absolutely gorgeous
That is an awesome bus. Cool video.
Great job! Enjoyed visiting with you!
Lovely, nice and cozy. Thanks for sharing. ciao, lol.
Great tour. Really enjoyed it. Thanks
Thanks for all of your tips. I'm considering making a lifestyl change so that I can travel to the Northwest in the summer. My daughter and her husband live in Seattle, and the summers in the southeast are unbearably hot! Your video gave me the most useful info than all of the hundreds of videos that I previously watched. Looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks! I started making the videos because I felt like there was a lack of information available, so that's awesome to hear :)
I had a Vandura GMC 3/4. ton unit, finally sold in 2009. Miss it to this day! Good Luck!
What a wonderful tiny home! Love the kitty popping in too :-)
8:07 I completely agree. I have plans for a 40' bus, but I definitely don't want it to feel like an RV. I very much want people to feel like they're still in a bus when they come inside. This is a refreshing change from many other youtube videos where owners proclaim how much they love that it doesn't feel like a bus anymore.
What a lovely girl and also great job done with the bus!
I love how you have it decorated, very cozy. Nice video
Thanks for watching!
Great video. Thanks for the tour. Cant wait to catch up on the rest of your vids.
I really like what you have done with this bus great job
I could live there for years. It is beautiful and has every comfort with a manageable size!
Nice bus conversion, I really like it
Wow You are Really laid Back and your Mobile bus/home Rocks 👍
You did a great job converting the bus
you have done such a great job!!! I hope to hear a lot more about you in the future.
Just found your channel. Very well done, Both the van & the videos. I look forward to watching more.
Thank you for sharing with us.
+Me&myRv Thanks for watching!
Such a pleasant sounding voice . . . enjoyed listening to you present your home.
Thank you!
Hi Alison, what a beautiful job you did on your tiny home/school bus! It really inspired me as I make plans to make my Ford Transit Van into a livable tiny home as I travel. Thanks for highlighting useful products and giving insights about humidity caused by propane use. I didn't know this. I live in Port Angeles...maybe if you ever head this way or me out where you are we can connect? I'm leaving for Virginia next week and will be gone at least a month, maybe two. Love all the art in your home!
so glad to see someone using the goal zero, we just bought an old rv that does not have a generator and that's what I have been looking at getting instead of a gas generator.
I love them. They're a bit pricier than other options, but you get your money worth in customer service and ease of use.
What a breath of fresh air. You are so real.
Subcribed. Can wait for more Vids.
+48busman Aw, thank you! I'll have another up soon :)
Lots of useful information, really good video.
One of my favorite things in your build is the Philosopher Guild Kafka. Awesome! lol
Very innovative. Thanks for the tour. sincerely, Laura-Lee
Awesome setup. .. I love your little house on wheels. Subscribed :) thanks for sharing
+Panda Monium Thanks! :)
Can't wait to see the wood stove install. Those navigators are HARD to come by and hard to wait for. Go you!
Buying a bus and really appreciate this video, the tips and product reviews.
+Jason and Brooke Northrup thanks! Have fun with your conversion!!
Great video and what a great job you have done on your home.Keep up the videos.A++++++++++++
Lots of great ideas. Good video.
job well done on Ur tiny home.and much respect for a woman who did all of the work on her own.keep up the great work girl.and don't worry about the haters.cause they gotta hate on others who are successful in life.
Indeed, I feel bad for the haters. Having enough time to hate is a definite sign that you're lacking in your own world.
Thank you for sharing Bessie! I've got a ton of ideas for my RV renovation now!
Love the vid! Thanks for sharing your little rv-house-thing.
+Luther Hendricks thanks for watching!
Bravo!
You are amazing.
Great series. Thank you.
Girl, really nice, really nice. Thank you.
I plan on painting my white and green like that too. I like the color scheme!
Nice tour! Some good ideas.
Great job! Thank you for sharing!!
Love the video! Been living in my 1990 class B in NYC full time for three weeks now. Kudos to you and the work you've put in to live in your bus for a year! Got some great ideas especially the Go Zero! Thx and SUB'd.
Awesome, hope you're having fun being an urban ninja!
Great video ! I'm inspired to convert.. Thanks for taking the time to post this it helps a lot..
+Mark Garry (KIDCOCHIESE OUTDOORS) thanks for watching!
thank you for the tour gave me some good ideas for my future build.
"The gas mileage is absolutely horrible, for a bus, but, gas mileage is great for a house!" BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
That made my day! Thank you!
Same here !
I wish I could be funny too. But all my attempts at humor are really lame.
this was ...funny
Which is kind of funny, if you think about it :) LOL
Wasteland Seven I
Man living in a bus looks small but u made it look so easy awesome
Very awesome work! I have considered looking into a short bus. That looks like a viable option. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing. Best wishes.
Simplisafe security panel... I recognize that.
Good choice. Sim based system.
Taught an 87 year old client how to use it & she got it quickly.
Nice use of small space
The inside looks bigger than expected..
love your tiny home
finaly, some one who talks about brands and specifics! :D
I reckon this set of simple technologies really makes or breaks an RV lifestyle for a lot of folks.
For the record the highlights would be:
- Nature's Head composting toilet
- Helio shower system
- GoalZero solar PV system (Yeti 1250 with 2 x 100Ah batteries daisy chained)
- Engel chest fridge
Totally.
This Is Incredibly Amazing
Great set up, I love it!!
love it...precious...enjoy for many years
I am so fascinated with this type of living and so used to living in my condo and I record music and perform and would need to have space to record and live.
I actually just got an art studio space because the scale of my art projects outgrew the tiny house. It's work only and also an amazing artist collective, so win-win. I figure it's akin to having an office space outside of your house, and it's nice having more separation of work and home!
You are sooo so CUTE!! I love your bus!!
You rock! Love the bus and the tour
+Pinki V Moore Thank you!
great work and set up!
Nicely done presentation. I have a similar van, but it's even more simple i.e. lacks feminine inspiration, but does the job. Keep up the good work.
perfectly made video. keep 'em coming:-)
Nice presentation.
Sweet home! Thanks for sharing! :)
+LifeMusicFun thanks for watching!
WOW, you can really tell you work with TV speakers... Your presentation is very professional... Cute bus build, too.
So cosy & a proper bathroom-perfect-😊
Thank you! I kinda feel that without a bathroom you have a camper, and I wanted a home :-P
+Skoolie Sound -I totally agree-living in India I can never dream of the life you lead--so your experiences really make me feel,as of I'm living that life too!! Keep Going& God Bless 💕🐬💕
almost all RVs get terrible MPG, its the weight (duh lol). Theres some good ways to increase it a lil. I use Turfoil (oil additive), i figure if NASA can use it on space shuttle i can use it in my GAS (not diesel) car. Its a high tech lube that cuts down on friction in eng thus makes it run more efficient. I also like the "fuel shark", its a device you plug into your cig lighter that stabilizes your electrical system thus allows smoother operation thus increasing MPG. Yes you will think its really dumb, but independent testing shows it works, so... yay science!
I like your set up
Beautiful job!!!
Awesome conversion
I love Betsy. I wouldn't think putting a wood burning hearer would be safe, but sounds cool. I'd primary use my own school bus camper for visiting my kids and quick vacation and some "me" time later on. I'm 57& completely tied to my home ATM but someday will be able to travel, I hope
The woodburning stove is questionable, I'll be the first to admit it. I figure that if there's a big enough gas leak, or if the fire gets to the gas tank, I'm screwed either way.
Thank god you show me the helio shower , the first time I seen it thanks .
